Guys, this screenpack is just a prototype. I was a bit superficial when I made that background, so I'm gonna try harder next time.
After and only after Tombstone is done, I will start this new project.Until now I have basics almost done for one of the major characters and I just started another.  BTW, characters  will be  released  separately.  Now about what this project will contain from stages to characters. I will add historical stages with a few X-MEN references from the 62's Cuban Missile Crisis, 63's JFK bent bullet by Magneto to 2013 Rebels Time Portal. As for characters, I'll hopefully add at least 5 characters (I have one more character I'd like to add, but I'll decide in time). Like any game, mine will have a story as well. A time traveler super villain is sent back in time to kill one of the most important figure for the mutant and human race, but the mutant rebels will also send somebody to stop him. Now I hate to reveal work that's not even halfway done, so my advice to you is simple: don't trust me until you see more than half of what I want to accomplish. In this situation I either finish what I planned or I don't finish nothing at all.

Not a bad setup there. very legit cutscene.

You're right! 'In his hands'. I wanted to change it, but I wasn't sure. English is not my mother language so I might have some mistakes here and there, even if I try hard not to. Thank you for correcting my mistake. And if you see other mistakes, please let me know.  I'll have a lot of cutscenes and I will definitely not release this with grammar mistakes.
About the gameplay, I'd want it to be like a story mode, like Acey coded AvX, but at the same time I need to be down to earth. I have no idea how to code it nor time to learn, so everything will be random ish. Oh and not all of them stages will be in different years. If you'd like a proof reader to avoid grammar mistakes, I could proof read for you. Doesn't need to be the actual screen shots of cut scenes, just text in a text file is sufficient.

In MUGEN, you can set the order of characters you fight in the "select" config file where you add characters to the select screen. It's supposed to be the order of difficulty, but you could use that to group characters in a single time era together. But if you want the story to play out in different order per playable character, I do not think that would be possible. I haven't touched MUGEN in forever, so it may have changed.

Are you creating characters for this game too, or is this just a screenpack/story mode and people add in the roster the version of the characters they like?

Thanks! I will search for  you after I finish all scenes. Yes I will definitely add new characters, stages etc... And since I already revealed Daken who will also be the main character, this is how he will look after he steals some clothes lol. Of course I will add different palettes to it. Thank you very much. I almost finished the storyboards, they will look like this one: (http://s28.postimg.org/b24zhet99/Untitled5.png) I stopped posting them 'cause I don't want to reveal too much. I have almost 90 scenes done by now. So it will be like a mini pixel art movie. I also have some cutscenes showing Apocalypse's origins. The only thing I really need is a good stance for Tombstone so I can get him out of my way asap. So if you are interested to help me in animating the stance sprite, just tell me and I'll send you the sprite. It's a real nightmare for me to find someone that can help me. I don't have much hope left now.

To me i would love to see adult Franklin Richards (his nickname Scrapper) and Bishop as a cameos in background stages

I know Bishop was never born in Earth-811, but it would be cool if he accidentally travel here a wrong universe and then he goes back travel another multiverse to searching his target.

This project looks very good!
If I read it right, Daken is sent to 1984 to avoid the Apocalyptic future (the 3 billion deaths and the Sentinel oppresion), just like in "Days of the future past". But, in addition, some other char is also sent to stop him to 1984, reminding Terminator 2. It's really funny.
What I would expect:
- To see Bastion as the second time traveler, or maybe Nimrod (Onslaught might be a proper base).
- That the 1984 X-men stop Daken when he tries to kill Bolivar and a hard fight until they realize that he is sent to avoid his future (I think something similar happens to Bishop when he travel back in time, here, however, Daken will know that the X-men are real and how they look, but the X-men know nothing about Daken (it will be curious how Logan takes it)).
- To see the X-men roster of 1984 in 1984 (Wolverine, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler and Kitty (Jean is already dead and I think Cyclops has left the team)).
- Maybe the plan of Daken interferes, somehow, with some plan of the Hellfire club, and he has to fight Shaw too (this is an excuse to bring Shaw to Mugen :P).

Well, this might be funny, but I have it all covered, except Bastion. I have a more powerful final boss. A boss so evil that manipulates the future sentinels. I might include Bastion in the gold edition of the game, if zvitor gives me permission.
Also, Bolivar Trask is not the one who needs to die. Someone else less important will die unless you stop the evil time traveler mutant or machine (this is also a mistery).

It's on. I have a lot of cutscenes done and the game story is looking quite well. I will probably reaveal everything when I'll have the basics done for all my new characters. I took a few quotes from the X-MEN DOFP movie.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:
The first character for this project done and suddenly this thing has become from mission impossible to mission doable.
I will not reveal it just yet, because I want to have at least 3 chars done before showing more. But I will give you a few clues about this char; I don't expect many people to guess.

-Never mugenised before
-He/she is a heavy hitter
And I think if I tell you more, I'll make it too easy.
Even tho, this char is from the X-MEN universe, it has nothing to do with the original DOFP story, so I'll have to come with something original to fit in the story.
Guys, hope you won't get this the wrong way, I don't want to mock you or something, but I am so proud I have the first char for this project coded and ready. And btw, a major villain is being sprited. As soon as I finish the sprites, I'll send them to my coder.

Hhmm .. It's not as easy as you think. My guesses are Random, Forearm and Warpath ot Thunderbird, though they might not be neutral. I would like it to be Sebastian Shaw or Donald Pierce, but they are even less neutral.

Yeah, I've been studying the Hellfire club (the real one and the comics) a lot in the past months. I even visited the real Hellfire club HQ in Montpelier Hill. I also started to read every comics based on them starting with this:

I feel the same excitement as X and Hyper above!!!

Some ideas for him:

*When he absorbs energy, he can move faster and attack the opponent. Also he can release the energy back!!

*U can do some fists attacks!!

*Since he absorbs power u can make his damage meter slower because that will give him an an advantage against his opponents. Also he can have extra advantage against telepaths such as Proff X or Jean Grey because he can block their powers

I'd suggest to go with a more recent look for Sebastian, basically his Hellfire look minus the coat. Or even just with the white T/tanktop but the pants from the Hellfire outfit (similar to what he wore in the aftermath of Messiah Complex where he and Gambit battled Sinister)...

This is so great! I'm a fan of the Hellfire club too and this is a super-great piece of news. Thank you for working on him.
My idea for him might seem boring for someone but fits the character: make his attacks very basic, nothing athletic, everything rude, and with moderate damage. His main feature would be a Statedef -2 state that increase his power level quicker than usual every time he is hitted (an extra power add besides what the Hitdef could add). Thus, he would reach higher power levels and perform his hypers quickly, which would be based on grab attacks and would be really devastating.
- One grab attack might be based on Colossus spinning throw, as Nx-men suggest in his last picture.
- He might also be helped by Harry Leland in one hyper or special, where Leland increase the oponent mass and make him/her bend and stay undefended for a while, giving Shaw the chance to get closer and perform some other hyper, special or basic attack.
- One level 3 hyper could be an invulneravility state for some seconds, like Arkady's Luke Cage or Apocalypsis have.

I would say Sauron is only 20%. Atm I am more focused on Shaw. Sinister is in line after Shaw. Then I will have to choose between Daken and Sauron who's next.
Regarding Bishop, he is not mandatory for me, 'cause we already have a great one released, but if I'll have time after I finish the essential characters, I will probably give him a chance as well.

And Sauron! This would be so cool. I would add a telepatic attack to him, something that daze the other figther. I think I saw it in an old comic drawed by Neil Adams.

I imagine Gambit in a dark street, full of drunk men, prostitutes and dangerous mafia men, maybe in France, in Paris probably, to make it easier to identify.

And for Rogue, I can see her in some lonesome place, maybe a lone old town or a wood house in the mountain, where she tries to escape from society in order to not hurt anyone again.

Hey, man. Of course you can skip. The cutscenes last for at least 25 minutes and that's only the intro. I also have an ending and post credit scene.

This stage is not 100% done as I wish to extend the left side with the entrance to a cave or to have Garokk there somewhere.
I'd also like to mention this stage is for Sauron.

Since I could not figure 2 or more bases to mix for Shaw, he will be mainly Tiger. Therefore I have to improvise a lot to make him different from Tiger.
I already made some moves using Geese, Sagat and others.
Here's a custom win pose where I used Demitri as a model. I also have two more moves that I am going to borrow from Demitri.

You know yourself there are different interpretations of a character in comics, same as in mugen. I choose to approach a more intimidating look.

I can't imagine any mate that might help an unknown mutant "terminator" from the future ... but another mutant "terminator" from the future which appears through a time portal only to aid him a couple of seconds before vanishing. If that doesn't sound ridiculous for you, the couple would be anyone, like a future Colossus or a future Beast. You can use the looks of "The age of Apocalypse" comic-book for inspiration.

It's pretty good. Congrats :)

I would add some animated rags hanging from above (I think SNK games have those)... the Batman Returns SNES suspended scaffolding too... some semi-transparent candles in the foreground (aka MK3?)... some light beam effects from the damaged ceiling.

Some pigeons/doves would be pretty John Woo too. And if you want to go full weeping angel mode, there are some giant statues in Charlotte's stage. Heck... you could use skulls from Gen-An's stage too for creepiness.

It's hard to tell just by imagination, best is to try these and see if/how many fit the stage concept.

We have a finished Saint Dumas Cathedral for Azbat and I am glad we didn't use mostly the same bases :D

@O about the floor colors, idk, I feel I can do better. Also, if you see the two angels at the edge of the stage, they need work too. Thanks very much for the feedback. Very helpful.

Usually, when I am working on a character, I leave the stance animation for last. Shaw is about 75% done, so I tried to design a stance for him. I did not animate it yet, 'cause I'm not sure it will be the final stance.

Looks nice...I guess it all depends what you're going for. This stance tells me feral and he is ready to tear them limb from limb...now if you want one more similar to his cocky/upstart attitude I would keep torso and legs the same and and flip the arms palms up...change his grimace to a smile. ..palms up like he is saying "come on with it." I might match a little better to the marvel game with some flair...the stance now is awesome but more suited to either a feral, trait activation, 50% life, or a round two like wucash's darkseid...

Pretty long winded, but at the end of the day I wouldn't fault you for sticking with the stance you have now. The sprites are dope

wrong thing to do my friend, stance should be first, either way u have to make sure all his moves from it, will look good, so many times we need transition sprites. anyways, things looking cool man. keep up the good work

I agree with Verz on that. Because 70% (or more) of the edited Mugen characters has issues with transition sprites - from idle to attack or even idle to walk.

@warecus Yeah, it was supposed to be a grappling stance, but your Darkseid idea is not bad. I have a winpose with him looking like that.

X:COTA Omega Red has all those weird crawling movements that we never saw in the comics or tv shows... so I guess it would be ok to give some weirdness to Shaw.

Just checked that one and I don't really like it.
Here's my concept. It's an early wip, so I'm waiting for suggestions.


Palette is  bit off on the Angels & Church's pews (Seats).

I'd add light shining and a busted railing in the foreground.

Will the doves be animated? If so, I'd add low/soft Pidgin sound effects (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_9HJL_bQ1o) and a Church bell  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p_4Gs-d9NI)to the latter half of the BGM.

If you don't know how to do that, I can do it for you  :)

I agree with you man, a little bit of artistic freedom works as long as it doesn't drastically throw off the character.  I can see Shaw standing like this when he's on his last straw and wants to absolutely wreck someone stomping on his joy.

How much different are the stance from the walk and other attacks? The walk animation is always the worst (to me anyway) to do so it might be easier to play around with the stance a bit more. I'm assuming the walk is Tiger's from MM? Does he have any transition frames that you could use to edit the stance slightly but still make it flow together? Love how crisp the sprite looks though

Yes, it is Tiger's walk I used for Shaw. But looking at the stance and then at the walking, even if I have a good transition between them, it won't work. See, this stance is a 'ready-to-rip-some-heads-off' stance while Tiger's walk is a 'I-mean-business' stance lol. Don't know if this makes sense. So I decided to use a resized T-Hawk for his walk. Obviously with a different torso. And I'll put the old walk to good use; I will use it for Jason Wyngarde hyper.

About 80% done with Shaw. I just need to go back and fix some sprites and add his hypers.
So I'm in the middle of this hyper where he summons the Inner Circle and I already have an idea for it, but I would like to hear what you guys have in mind for this. Or should I even bother with a team hyper? I know some people don't fancy it too much. What members should I use and how this hyper should look? Any opinion would help.

I think the classic hellfire team of Shaw, Black Queen Selene, White Queen Emma, Harry Leland, and Donald Pierce would be great. You could substitute Mastermind Jason for Emma Frost since they both have mental powers. Mastermind or Emma could cause the opponent to enter a dizzy state, then Shaw jumps toward the opponent. Next Leland makes Shaw very heavy while he crashes into the opponent followed by Pierce firing an electric blast from his cyborg arm. Finally Selene can finish the opponent off by draining their life force.

Or something similar. OT how is Tombstone coming along? He looks great from the previews that I remembered.

Thanks for the help man. I just did not know where to fit Leland in this, but you gave me a great idea.
I initially had something different in mind, but your idea is better so I'm gonna go for it.
Tombsone was almost done and coded by Arkady. Last time I spoke with him, I sent him a few extra animation but then he went mia. Anyway, I'm not really happy with the sprites either so if I have time, I will probably revamp it.
