Hey DJ Track, nice to see you here.

Some tests I've made:

Both Cronos and Phoenix ended very well to me. The only thing is that I need to edit Phoenix feets to be at the same line, the same I did to Cronos sprites.

I hate to sound rude but I think we should stop with the edited, resized, etc characters. We have such a huge selection of characters who's sprites are perfect for this game. Why go out of our way to get less then average looking resized or edited sprites when we already have perfectly useable ones from other games?

1) because some of the resized chars are most wanted than many of normal size chars. I, for example, would enjoy more to use a char from Golden Axe or Shinobi too much rathen of to have 2 Leia.

2) when the resize ends well, like on the picture above or like Spawn case, I think we should consider it

3) many of the normal sized chars doesn't calls my attention too much.

I do not want to force you into anything, since its YOUR project, neither I want to sound rude, but if those chars are a problem to you, its okay to me. I won't annouce any of this kind of char anymore and I will do the chars for a stand alone release, and people who want just put it on the select screen.

No big deal.

You can do whatever you want, I'm just saying it kind of negates the point. Its like if instead of converting all the bosses from the SNES Mega Man X games for my Scrap Metal Arena project, I decided to sprite edit Castlevania characters instead to fit the style as close as possible. Its like, yeah it might turn out good but why wouldn't I go with perfectly useable material to begin with?

...because I like the other chars more?
or maybe because I do prefer to make some fan favorties chars rather to toss *another* shooter?

MDI, seams that you got upset with those chars, am I wrong? If its true, just tell me and I stop it.
Its your project, not mine.

i tink there is not so much perfect usable material....
a lot of posts here are base sugestions, and 99% dont fit...
and somes fits but have a poor sheet, like blacktorn guy, i cant wait to see your plans to him, because at his sheet he only have 1 attack, even king of dragons chars should be more easy to do....

I don't mean to sound like I'm being a perfectionist jerk or anything, but seriously we need SOME standards and sense of consistency in this game. Otherwise what separates it from some random youtube video of two completely random sidescroller characters in Mugen?

What makes it any different then this?

Anyone can make some random compilation. Yes I said there is no limit to how many characters we can make, but we need some limits as to what we make at least. For a good Mugen project you need SOME discipline.

Otherwise we'd have Mega Man versus Mario versus Kirby with resized Final Fight characters or some outrageous thing like that.

Guys, calm down.
Before it gets ugly it should be settled.
Let's agree on some points-requirements for characters so nobody hates no one.
I made quick list:
- chars in needed size and with needed style, that have moveset not like exact copy of already existing in game character are most wanted and needed;
- chars with needed style that could be resized(/edited) without loss of quality(or perfectly) with mostly unique movesets - 2nd priority and needed for project;
- chars in different style - no go;
- chars with exact same moveset or one move difference from existing in roster - no go;
- chars that looks ugly after resize - no go;
- resized(manually) chars should be nostalgic, while already fitting chars by other criteria - not.
That should keep game in one style, without lame clones and still with enough characters to make... Of course last word remains for MDI, but I think those should suit everyone :-??
We shouldn't trow stones at each other, let's keep it cool. :cool

so far only resized char done is spawn, right?
what you tink about him MDI?
...
anyway i already started luke 92% too...

so to make it clear to me,  Phoenix dont look so good, but why this kronos dont fit to project?

- bad resize?
- bad moveset?
- or you dont want chars from beatnups like golden axe or street of rage?

Honestly I dislike how griffon looks, too messy, but that panther (Cronos, was it? hadn't paid attention to his name while playing GA3, but liked him most of GA3 chars) looks cool resized.

The Panther looks better definitely, but still a bit too pixelated. Still though he really doesn't look all that awful..

But yeah that Phoenix character unfortunately didn't turn out great.

I hate that I'm coming off as some Iron Fisted Tyrant here. I don't want to argue either, I'm just having a discussion here that I had hoped people can understand.

As for people continuously bringing up the variety in moves, characters who don't have much to work with, etc. Really, for a game based on 2d sidescrollers the bar for moves should be a tad lower considering that they aren't going to exactly be as complex as actual fighting game characters.

this is what I've sent to MDI by PM, but just to make the things clear, I will post it here:

I was talking with ZVitor and I will change the way I do chars: I will do anyone I want to, to me.
Its up to MDI to include it or not.

If he wanna include it, that is okay. If he doen't, that is okay too, I will release it anyway, so people can choose what they put on their rosters or not.

I won't discuss about it anymore.

I said that because it seems like I make some comments without any intention whatsoever of causing a ruckus or argument, yet that is exactly what it turned into. I can't seem to express any discontent with something here without people making me out to be some mean dude scolding you all.

And just to clarify, when I said do what you want, I wasn't trying to be a smart arse or anything. I simply want you guys to create content because YOU want to and YOU enjoy it.

Not create something because I told you so and you HAVE to do what I want. This is our project and it is supposed to just be a fun thing.

If I tell you "I don't like this" or "I don't like that" then lets talk about it, discuss it. Understand each other. In the end if we disagree then fine, as long as we had a civilized discussion about it and heard each other out. Don't just get pouty and go OH WELL WE HAVE TO DO IT BECAUSE MDI IS MAKING US. GRRR.

This is seriously not a big of a deal as it is being made out to be.

Why Shinobi and Cronus? They are good...

Once again, I personally don't like the resizing sprites method, but I'm not telling anyone not to make these two particular characters. So yeah, I'll be completely blunt and direct to avoid any more miscommunication.

Create Shinobi. If you can find a way to make Cronus look any better, it would help. If not, and you really want to make him, go for it.

Dude, there is a big error on almost every char (because we had used your chars as a base).

Everytime you called a projectile, you had used:

Quote
Attr = SC, NA, SA, HA

That is so much wrong, because its not a normal attack, its a projectile.
You can see it on the Mugen docs: http://elecbyte.com/mugendocs/sctrls.html#hitdef

This is the right one:

Quote
attr = S, SP
(if the char is standing)

So...almost every char needs to be fixed  :|

Thank you for telling me...now after all this time.  :P
I do refer to the docs, as this whole project is in fact a learning experience for me. I guess I overlooked that.

It isn't a hard fix at all if that is the case. Just a matter of going back and correcting the error with each character. I was actually going to ask you before this conundrum of a miscommunication about my characters in terms of what I should correct so that they can serve as suitable bases for future playable characters.

I am aware that the clsn boxes for the hit states are all but good, and I have a PM regarding what you said about the floor state being misaligned. Anything else?
