Spider-Man 4 Info

NEW YORK, New York -- Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary Jane Watson, "Spider-Man 4" producer Todd Black told the New York Post.

The star will rejoin director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker's love interest in the latest installment in the popular superhero franchise, which is slated for May 6, 2011.

However, don't expect wedding bells for Mary Jane and Peter - Black told the newspaper that he was unaware of such a subplot. At the close of "Spider-Man 3," the two had an emotional - but ambiguous - reunion after the film's events drove the lovers apart.

Additionally, Black hinted at the film's villain, shooting down online rumors that pegged comic book character Morbius the Living Vampire as the latest member of Spidey's rogue gallery.

Instead, the producer told the Post that the villain had a significant connection to the Big Apple.

"We're just coming up with who the villain is now," he said. "We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York."

In past films, Spider-Man has faced off with the Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Venom and Sandman, leaving a number of famous villains who could make their silver screen debut in "Spider-Man 4."

Among the popular options are Kraven the Hunter, Chameleon, the Hobgoblin, Mysterio, Venom offspring Carnage and the Lizard, whose human alter-ego, Dr. Curt Connors, had a role in the previous two movies.

Another potential foe could be New York crime boss the Kingpin - however, the character appeared in 20th Century Fox's "Daredevil" and would likely require a rights acquisition by Sony Pictures.

But the crime lord would give the film a New York connection - and would also be Access Hollywood film critic Scott Mantz's top choice.

"The Kingpin is grounded in reality, and that's the appeal of Spider-Man," Mantz said, adding another suggestion to the mix - femme fatale the Black Cat. "I'd like to see the Kingpin and the Black Cat, to stir the pot with Peter's relationship with Mary Jane."

Not the biggest info, but it mentions that Morbius won't be the villain and that the actual villain will have something big to do with New York. Seems like Kingpin would be the best bet by this info, but I'm still really hoping to see the combination of Carnage/Lizard. Hopefully with Black Cat in it as well.

Well, when they talk about the villain being connected to New York, I feel like it's nothing more than empty information that is not false but not important. I would put money down that it's not the Kingpin because the only link to the Kingpin is the New York comment which I feel is calculated to be misleading.

i hope they don't throw too much out there at once like they did with the last flick. They had too much much going on and no way for it to pan out. I'm sorry folks, but I seriously think we need a new parker. I mean he was not that much of a dork after he got the powers. They got away with it in the first flicks, but now Parker needs to grow up. PLUS we need a hotter mary jane cuz this salad eating chick ain't cutting it. Yeah I said it!! I would like to see the shocker or the vulter make some kind of appearance though...

Yeah... no! Your crazy. The general population had a really hard time with 3 because of venom. We dont need to throw clones into the mix now too.
(maybe after the realyens or whatever they are called actualy prove they have cloned a human and it becomes a hot socal issue again then i could see it working but right now the fear of cloning isnt in the forfront)

Regardless of the villain, I read that Stan Lee is one of the writers for this installment so it's gotta be amazing in the end.

I'd rather not see Kingpin, but instead Chameleon or just someone with powers. Morbius, the Living Vampire was actually someone who would of been interesting to see. Sinister Six would be pretty epic, but won't happen.

I can't wait though. I enjoyed part 3, maybe not as much as the previous installments, but I liked it regardless of what others say. Especially now that Stan Lee is helping write this, I'm even more excited.

Carnage and Lizard is who I'm most hoping for, but seeing some of the suggested villains, I'm thinking Hobgoblin stands a good chance of being in it. No particular reason, actually. I just like his...ORANGENESS.

Carnage would work right just because he does come after Venom, it make sense, he could be what was left behind and also even though he's rated R, the film doesn't have to show it's nasty side to be true. Suggestive violence is more intense than actual violence believe it or not. Just look back at Scarface the movie starring Al Pacino; the chainsaw scene got it a very bad rating but they never did show the chainsaw cutting the guy, it was suggestive. You don't give your imagination enough credit, let it blow stuff up out of proportion and you'll be a happier geek

No, after the explosion there was nothing, not even a body. So venom is still alive.


Carnage is a horable idea, it also requires venom still being alive to do. Carnage is a slasher villan, and it wouldnt work good with the studio. If venom even makes an appreance again he still wont be the main villian. The main villain is defently going to be a classic spidey villian.
I think Norman Osborn is going to come back after prooving he faked his own death.

why? when Raimi was asked about the Venom movie a month or so back he mentioned Carnage, thats why.

Now honestly i know i said this is bad news but it could be good news.. cuz hopefully in the Venom movie they'll go all out, maybe make it an R, and have Carnage in all his murdering glory.

Although TDK's Joker was spot on in violence and insanity and it was still a PG-13 movie..a very violent and disturbing PG-13 movie, but still PG-13

Well people say its horrible because.... it was horrible. He was supposed to be the green goblin, not new goblin or hobgoblin. He was supposed to wear his dads suit and ride his dads glider. Not wear a crapped out power ranger suit and ride on a hoverboard from back to the future 2.

Another thing I hated was in the movies they depicted Mary Jane as a whore. She starts dating Peters best friend, then she gets engaged to Peters boss' son, then she finally gets with Peter, only to go back to his best friend.

I really can't believe they had the balls to put in Gwen Stacey in Spiderman 3. I always thought they put in Mary Jane in the first movie because all the kids are more familiar with her. What they should have done was made Gwen in the first movie, have her killed off, then Harry would be angry at Peter for Gwen and Normans death. For the 3rd movie they could have brought in Black Cat/Felicia Hardy instead because it would have made a bit more sense, rather then making everything backwards.

To be honest, I don't even want a Spider-Man 4. The directors will obviously find some way to mess the series up even more.

If i remember correctly, i beleve the studo pressured to have venom in due to large ammounts of fan demand. If Sam had it his way, he never would have been it, and he would have kept strictly to they "classic" spiderman villans.
