I don't know where the whole "7 years after MGS4" thing but the series having had it's plot end I doubt Hideo would pull a new Snake out of his as-ohwaitnocursing-arse. I think this would be a prequel, and Solidus was the "perfect clone".

Most newer stuff sucks, though.

there was no perfect clone, there was only the closer clone and that was solid snake not solidus, this one from the pic appears younger than solidus as well.

there were 8 clones, all of em died except 3 (solid, liquid and solidus) so he could bring more clones into action.

If the next game is indeed a prequel, then why not have a younger Solidus?

And I may have not played MGS4, but I've seen a lot of footage of it, including the fact, at the very least, Solidus was more closer of a clone genetically to Big Boss.

Besides, Solidus was a commander (or something to that extent), as well as Big Boss in the later stages of his life. Don't know how good of a fighter he was without his suit, but he may have had a worse case of what Solid went through.

solidus did train radien and all but he was old when he lost his eye in mgs2, still it's a known fact that snake was the closest clone and not solidus, the new game might might play in 2 time periods making you play old and new chapters, so it's still might involve big boss, raiden and gray fox.
there was a raiden look alike in mgs3 as well but i don't remember his name.

I know he lost his eye in MGS2, but you know how screwy Hideo is.

And I've heard differently about the clone thing. I've heard Solidus was, genetically, the best clone of Big Boss.

i haven't played 4 yet myself but i do know that kojima stories can be very messed up at aimes with things appearing out no where.
i do know hat solidus was a balanced clone like some sort of a solid liquid combination, maybe that explains his extra accelerated aging cus he was already old in mgs2 while snake was much younger, that actually makes more sense regarding solidus being a closer clone considering the aging factor.

(please no mgs4 spoilers ppl)

Didnt they say in mgs 1 that liquid was the perfect clone and solidus was supposed to be like an enhanced clone and the inferior of the 3 is solid

The raiden lookalike was Raikov

No, I don't recall any mention of Liquid being the superior clone. Even the MGS1 ending basically said, if I remember correctly, that Solidus was the better clone.

If u got the right ending there was a conversation between ocelot and solidus stating that the perfect one lost the battle

start listening @ 6:33 it says that hes well balanced in the video also probably implying that hes supposed to be like inbetween the two but he also stated in mgs 2 that he was enhanced with more of big boss's leadership genes because hes supposed to be more of a field commander enhancing his charisma which is why he gained the presidency so easy

oh and hideo isnt conceited enough about his franchise

i thought it was big boss too but it turned out that this is not big boss, it's said to be the perfect clone of big boss or the real son of big boss which means that he is entirely a new snake not mentioned before yet it's said that he played a rule in the classic mgs games, and mgs4, raiden is still might be the main character in the upcoming game but the one from this pic isn't raiden as well (it's said that this is "gray fox" and not raiden) making gray fox and raiden look like clones is off imo, if raiden even looked like gray fox then i guess snake would have noticed it in mgs2 or mgs4.

i'm down for gray fox even if they made him look like raiden.
said to take place 7 years after mgs4, it's getting really inserting tho

So wait, okay that's gray fox?
That would actually make sense then. With Solid Snake finding that one bandanna @ the end of MGS1, and after playing MGS4, my guess is that's not big boss, cuz Big boss was old as hell in MG1, and Gray Fox wasn't a cyborg ninja until after Solid Snake had defeated him in MG1. It has to be solidus wearing a eye patch to fool people. So this has to be a sequel to either MG1, or MG2, but it's definitely a prequel to MGS1.

it's called metal gear solid:rising starring raiden, too bad it wasn't gray fox tho, also according to ign the game is exclusive to x360 at the moment (they removed the exclusive part of the comment) , ps3 is likely to get a big boss game if it's not getting this one.

Oh that sucks. A prequel explaining Solidus' origins would have been cool.

yeah i read that today, that sucks even more, cus it's said to be a true mgs sequel to the story of big boss and it's only for psp.
mgs: rising is coming to ps3 and pc as well btw, and calling it Lightning bolt action instead of Tactical Espionage Action makes me think of a ninja gaiden starring raiden lol

It would be messed up if they revealed that Naked Snake's motives were ultimately caused by that one dream he had. I'd turn evil too.

Metal Gear Solid: Hook Monster Made Me Do It.

But, seriously, I don't mind the exclusivity (Not mostly because I have none of the systems). And I was a bit surprised at the fact the teaser was meant for 2 seperate games.

Still, I'd like to know when MGS:R takes place. I really hope not after MGS4. Hell... who knows... maybe it takes place during MGS4.

The reason why it's called Lightning Bolt Action is cuz Raiden translates to Lightning Bolt.
That explains Raiden from MK's name, and Raiden shootin lightning in MGS4.

I do think it takes place after 4 cuz of the bandanna over his eye. I think this whole thing is just retarded cuz Raidens supposed to start a new life with his wife and kid. Also this game isn't being done by Kojima so expect nothing as spectacular as MGS3 or 4. However the guys who are responsible for 4 are working on the psp game. I wish I had a psp right now but whatever. I guess I'll have to settle for the crappy MGSR game... watch it be a rip off of Ninja Gaiden. lol
