I know that. Ive just never seen it used like that before. Is it a recent change in the name or just how they've been identifying that series?

It's how they're identifying the series.

They've cleaned up the animation, had as many of the original actors they could get back re-dub their characters, leaned the storytelling towards the manga version, and cut out all of the filler, which explains why they're already fighting nappa and Vegeta 13 episodes in.

Yeah, remastered in HD and in 16:9. Also, certain aspects have be redone. Take for instance Vegeta. When they land on that random planet, his armor colors were changed, probably to depict the atomsphere they were in, but Nappa's didn't change. In the revamp, Vegeta's colors stay Blue.

Also, episode 16 has new footage clipped in fight between Vegeta and Goku, and there will probably be mroe occurances of that happening.

Nappa's armor did change color...it was black instead of light blue.
So in the remake they kept the armor color the same...interesting  :cool
