Ripping Sprites From Unselectable Characters?

I'm just wondering, how do I rip the sprites from unplayable characters? I'm talking about Marvel vs Capcom 1... in that game you select 2 players, then you get a random 3rd partner. How can I get the sprites from a unplayable character, like Thor or Jubilee?

look at the sprite thread there are a site with sprite sheets of them

This is tough, but not impossibl;e. Basically, i did this for X-Men arcade's White Queen.

Basically, fire up your animaget when you get to the character (if he/she is a boss) or when your about to call out the striker. Then, disable the backgrounds (if possible) and let animget take the screenshots like you would the character you're playing as. The only downside is you can't control the one your actually ripping.

It took me several playthorughs to get White Queen's sprites, so it's rather trial-and-error.

You do know that those chars only have like 10 sprites right?

Yes, I'm aware of that  ;). Strikers only have their animations of running in and performing their attacks. If developing a striker into a full character, some animations would need to be sprite edited.

White Queen only had 50 sprites in X-Men arcade. I sprite edited many animations for jumping and crouching attacks (looking back at them they may not be the best edits, but they get the job done. ;) So in the end I had about 149.

lol I had no idea... I'll play around with aniget and see what I can do... about how many animations would a wip need?

lol I had no idea... I'll play around with aniget and see what I can do... about how many animations would a wip need?

depends... A good char needs 500 sprites or more
