Title: "Stop Online Piract Act", or, Goverment Censors Internet
Post by: novasod on November 17, 2011, 11:43:12 AM
The "Stop Online Piracy Act" is a bill that the Congress has been going over and debating since yesterday.(Nov 16.) Want to know just what this bill is? Well, read the link below, if you will...

http://www.publicknowledge.org/e-parasite-stop-online-piracy-act?gclid=CIe7vNeMvqwCFY3JKgodF1pdoA (http://www.publicknowledge.org/e-parasite-stop-online-piracy-act?gclid=CIe7vNeMvqwCFY3JKgodF1pdoA)

This Act, if passed, would be a serious blow against democracy and the freedom of speech, and the internet as we know it could possibly be forever changed. (At least, until everyone realizes just what situation they're in and do something about it...)

Thankfully, there's hope; while there is (unfortunately) support for the act, there's also widespread discontentment towards the act, including 9 big companies such as Google, Twitter, Yahoo, etc., and much of the internet is speaking out against the act. And considering just what Infinity MUGEN does here, (MUGEN and all the copyrights that go into the the characters and stages and etc,) Infinity is at stake as well.

So, if you disagree with this act, search online, do your research, and then speak out against it; you'll feel better if you do. ;)

So how is this bill getting around that first amendment then? I'm confused on how they can even do this with that amendment in place. What are they just going to be like "Oh, that... Yeah that never existed. We made it up blah blah blah."...  o.O#

:-j That hasn't stopped them before

What's really horrifying is that Americans are just accepting it like it's normal or that there's nothing we can do about it and that it's just the way it is.

The direction this country is heading looks to be heading towards a very different America. A lot of folks out there are starting to wake up to it while many others refuse to come to terms with it.  %-(

There will definitely be more stuff like this to come. Prepare yourselves!  XD||

I know this is COMPLETELY off topic, but that quip reminds me of when they blew up the moon in Sonic Adventure 2 and after than they just acted like that never happened.

But about the bill, I wouldn't worry about it. I have a feeling this bill is gonna get crashed in a major way

The Constitution is the Law of the Land, and the First Amendment shall never be superseded by this blasphemy they call an Act, for it is an Act of Violaton rather than an Act of Justice for all.

The Grand prize here consists of what companies believe to be our American Jobs and what the people believe to be our Freedom of Speech. This is Unconstitutional, and we have the right of Free Speech at this moment. Let's use it wisely while we can.

I think IMT should do this:

http://americancensorship.org/ (http://americancensorship.org/)

We'll put a banner over our logo to promote the awareness further. We may be 1% of a gaming population, but we can dream big, and fight strong.
