True dat! I actually beat the first NES game back in the day, and my brother still doesn't believe me. Just thinking about those damned jetbikes makes me wanna cry.
After that, the toughest I've played would have to be Super Ghouls & Ghosts, Contra, and Ninja Gaiden.
One game I haven't seen mentioned that always gave me fits was The Immortal. Just try the areas that require you to use the flying carpet or the worm detector and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I agree with GX (although I did almost unlock everything in that game), Contra, (IMO the hardest, game EVER specificly 3), Ninja Gaiden, Super gouls and ghosts (Got to the part where you had to do it all over again, immediatly quit.)
But really? LOZ2? it wasn't that hard. I beat it, yet I can't beat the first one.
EDIT: okay, I lied, I never played the original, however, Ijust did now.
I was able to beat the first level, first try, without dieing once. meh. Comparing that with contra 3, where I have never last longer then a 5 minutes in the first level, this game ain't too bad.
EDIT2: Okay, second level is a serious pain in the butt. WHat, does this game's difficulty increase exponentially or something?

definitely!!!!!! i've played the series on snes so many times, but i didnt finished it (the difficulty was to hard)

friday the 13th (nes) i have yet to finish that game.it is a nightmare to play when jason powers up after the fourth time beating him lol
super ghouls and ghost: that game was made by the devil himself!! I was so happy when i finished it then my heart was broken when i found out i needed the bracelet to see the real ending and i have to play through that horrible game all ove again!! SMH.....
megaman 9 & 10 wow........ ten i haven't even seen a boss yet lol!!! wow....... part nine i'm stuck on the first wily stage. i don't think it can be beaten once you get to the fire part.......
castlevania (nes) : if you somehow manage to beat shin akuma (death lol!!) the next stage in the start has you fighting the first boss many times across breaking platforms!! WTF is that?!!
driver 1 ps1 : the first game i ever played where i had no choice but to cheat LOL!!!!
the last stag was never meant to be finished!! the fed cars with their pit bull ai was an abomination!! Truly more of the devils's works in the gaming industry hahaha

Hell yeh on castlevania nes. Frankenstein was the worse. i didnt beat that game till i got it on emulator in my modded xbox when i was 27 years lol. Even then i barely beat em. happy like a lil kid when it was over.

Dead Rising too, I guess.. because before i got the shortcut from the one scene after beating the clown with the fricken chainsaws I had to run people across the mall OUTSIDE... when those stupid idiots would keep showing up in their stolen jeep.. it was like.. wtf... I killed you guys! o.O#
Lol, but after you rescue the guy being held hostage by the clown, he shows you a shortcut from there to Paradise plaza so you can avoid going through the park. The whole respawning convicts thing was dumb though. :P

Mike tysons punch was another sweat out to beat. Super macho man & mike always made me nervous as hell lol.

The TMNT games?? wow :|...dude i JUST beat that 1st one for nes like in 2004 :DxDie :DxDie. when my modded xbox was still working i beat it on there and i barely did that. The first time i ever got to Shredder one freakin time and died epicly was when i was in the 9th grade. I got to em the game glitched up and turned toxic (as it always did with nes sooner er later). I couldnt really see sh*t cuz of the Glitchey screen and the dude shot me with the Mutagen and every body in the room said "....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!!" o.O#
i never played that game again since my late 20s :( lol

Love Hina: Gojasu Chiratto Happening - Seriously WTF!!!! Are dating sims supposed to be this hard? This game will make you damage you analogs trying to get pass the challenges.
