I've decided to start working on a new project. Yellow Devil will be much easier to sprite, not only because his sheets already have a lot of stuff, but also because since he is a boss character, he won't have much of basic moves regular characters have. What he really needs is some basics like intros, winposes and taunts. Any idea is welcome. Like Darkman, I'll only sprite him.

On a side note, I'm thinking on resizing him to be a giant boss character, to keep with his size from the old games. I'm also adding some stuff from the Green Devil and the Shadow Devil.

YES.

I'm a big Yellow Devil fan, and I'm all for making this character the best it can be. Now, I'm not much for coding, but I can give some ideas for attacks, winposes, that sort of thing. For instance, an idea for a winpose could be that he turns into little blobs that float away, or he could simply flex his arms and then go back to his normal stance with a roar. For an intro, you could have yellow blobs appear from behind the player, form into the Devil, have him roar or say a line, and then jump to to other side of the arena in his stance.

If you meant the move where he turns into several small balls, it was the first thing I've edited. It was something that the Power Fighters YD lacked.

But in all seriousness, he also needs to have a teleport. I remember fighting the Green Devil, and he always used to seep into the grates on the floor, while the eye floated lazily in the air to his new spot. Think that'll help?

Hm, the wave should be edited more, since the Green Devil was more of a "gelatin" type, whereas the Yellow Devil sorta looks like clay or something. Otherwise, I think it should be edited. :-?? Also, great job on the Wily Machine. :thumbsup:

Black devil made me give up on MMX5, I put it on easy, and he's still nigh impossbile. The only way I could beat him was with the ninja armour with X, and he's still pretty damn hard.

I used the FLIGHT armour,I just flew over most of his attacks.

I had to used this cause the boss is too hard with Zero, he does massive damage and his weakness requires you to get to close to hit him.

the black devil is way to easy if you didnt realize... if you play Megaman1 which you will encounter the yellow devil in wily's castle... the same attack to defeat it by using elecman's power... in x5 by using squid adler's attack same as elecman's

The Shadow Devil isn't hard, just ANNOYING AS HELL!  \-/o To defeat him is just a question of patience.

An idea that may be hard to sprite:

He will be a giant boss: slow moving, tank, no combos, no basic moves, cheap.

As for the Wily Machine, he will fall down from above the opponent to damage him (like Kintaro or Sheeva)

The sprites of Magma Dragoon look more bigger on his signature !

Yes, those are the normal version sprites, from Power Battles. Laspacho sent me those sprites.
Then, I saw that is a resized version of it (Which I don't like too much).

I've spoken with Magma and he said that maybe the normal version could be playable and the bigger one the boss, and its up with Laspacho to decide.

Well, if we are ganna making it playable, its okay to me. But its codes are already beeing made into boss style (no block, only the eye could be hit, custom state moves won't hit - like grabs, and so on).

Yellow Devil is big and the bigger version could be GIANT on the screen. I can code both, but...just on this style.
I will code the smaller and if I have time, I will code the bigger (its the same code, btw, just an AI). Or someone can simple change the sprites to make the bigger version.

Right now for RMM's first release purposes I think we can go with the small version of Yellow Devil as just a boss character, like O is doing.  Once that version is done we can always change the sprites and make some modifications at a later date for the bigger version.  I think the bigger version could be utilized in the future with maybe a custom stage that is zoomed out, since Yellow Devil is so big.  That would be fun.   :thumbsup:

On the topic of either the large or small Yellow Devil, the larger one WOULD be more proportional to the others, but the small one is fine for now. :thumbsup: Everything looks greatly coded for him as a boss character right now as well, nice job, O. :)

maybe, because this would give me much more work to do. On the original game you can't hit him on the body, just on the eye.
Plus, normal sized chars can beat it easily, because the eye is on a position where almost every char standing punch can hit.

ABout preventing the enemy getting close, he has 3 already:

- Eye Laser (which will push the p2 back)
- Yellow Grab
- Giant Slap (which throws p2 against the wall)

I know how he worked in the Megaman games, but it worked like that cause you only had one way of offense, but here you have more than one.  Not only that, but a sadistic AI maker could give him an AI that makes him use ONLY the safe, keepaway attacks, minimizing your chances of victory, but who knows?   :D

He's looking pretty awesome. Do think the bigger version might look better in comparison to the rest of the chars, as long as it keeps the same quality in sprites and all.

Any chance we'll be getting a transparent green pal for him like in Mega Man 8.? A transparent yellow one would be cool too.

I know how he worked in the Megaman games, but it worked like that cause you only had one way of offense, but here you have more than one.  Not only that, but a sadistic AI maker could give him an AI that makes him use ONLY the safe, keepaway attacks, minimizing your chances of victory, but who knows?   :D

I understand, but he isn't so hard to beat. As I said, a normal sized char can beat it easily.
Since we are using Mugen 1.0, I don't need to make tricks to get the Ai activated, so he just picks a random move by itself, like a normal char do.
the difference is in Mugen1.0, it works better, and I removed some normal actions, like crouch, jump, etc.

So, it picks a random attacks at his will, no pre-programmed attacks. Just in Walk state he has something to randonize the attacks, but nothing triggering the p2 position, attack, etc.

He looks great so far. I always loved fighting the Yellow Devil.
Will he have that move where he breaks apart, travels across the screen, and then reforms on the other side?

He's looking pretty awesome. Do think the bigger version might look better in comparison to the rest of the chars, as long as it keeps the same quality in sprites and all.

Any chance we'll be getting a transparent green pal for him like in Mega Man 8.? A transparent yellow one would be cool too.

that transparent green one could actually made quite easy

(i used vectors here, but any other programme can draw one big circle for the body and 3 for the arms +1 one for the hand...even beginners could animate it)

Yeah, I think It'd make more since to use the red gel like substance of Alpha's body for the pallete instead of his gray because the way I see it Alpha is made of the red gel, the gray stuff is just the armor and not the main attraction.

Plus the red substance that makes Alpha seems similar to Yellow Devils structure.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't make sense to use the gray for an Alpha pallete because it's not as recognizable as a red one would be, I wouldn't have known it was an Alpha pallete if you hadn't have said so.
