The Suggestion/Insperation Assistence Thread.
« on: June 20, 2014, 09:27:26 PM »
Why this topic? Because sometimes you want to make something, but are not sure where to start, artistically speaking.  You don't know what art style to do it in, or what bases you should start with if you want to edit sprites and not do work from scratch. (Also don't just reply to people who want ideas with stuff like, "figure it out for your self" or "just do it from scratch," you'll just get someone frustrated.)
Or if you want move ideas you can post in here and openly ask.
Or if you just want to put stuff out there, but you don't think you'd be able to do it, you could put that here too. [/color]

To start things off, here's a thing I've been stuck on for a bit in my brain, (to separate it from the topic's rules, ill put a spoiler up first.)

I don't know if this particular question belongs here, but I have to ask before I start trying to make/ characters.

Which style(s) in your opinion is the most accessible to beginners who can draw well?

I usually say MVC style. Its got a simple but nice looking shading style, and there are a lot of bases you can work with. But even easier would be to go manipulate some 16bit sprites, like from the mega man or the x games. Mega Man was what i first learned to sprite edit with.

Cool. I was procrastinating on a style to learn as a first attempt for a mugen character.I'm thinking when I learn enough i'll go with the CPS3 style, but looks so difficult to execute properly, lol.

I'll keep the MMX style in mind too. 'Sounds fun
