How add characters to infinity mugen

I followed the instructions the wiki told me but no character other than karate man is showing up, it says the vselect is suppose to make it easier but i don't know how use that either would somebody please how the hell this thing works, cause i've been at this sense yesterday and see can't add 1 freakin character to this thing.  \-/o
