= FreankExpo.net shows us the Avengers Vs X-Men Contest ! =

•Goal

The goal of the contest is to make a game about the epic Marvel event : "Avengers Vs X-Men".

• Rules

You can use all MUGEN versions.

The game must be like the Marvel Event. But you can customize the backgrounds and stages.

The main events must be recognizable.

It 's possible to work with a team.

• Delivery of Games

The Games must be added on the website of free indie games : FreankExpo.net and in its description write : AvsX-IMT (the download-link must be a direct download or on a free hosting website like MediaFire oe RapidShare).

• Deadline

You have until December 10, 2012 (the day included).

The deadline can be moved later on the needs of users.

• Awards

The first place will be advertised in the SlideShow of FreankExpo and with a video Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/RetroGamesIndie[/youtube]"]Free Indie Games

The second and third place will have a video on Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/RetroGamesIndie[/youtube]"]Free Indie Games

I'm sorry but just..no. For so many reasons, just..no. Let's go through a short list here..

1) You're asking people to make you a game. First off, it'd be more of a compilation of characters than anything else since the timeline is 16 days.

2) These would all have to be open source characters/stages or else they couldn't upload this said "full game" anywhere without the permission of every given author of any characters/stages used.

3) On top of those things, you clearly want the story to come through and all. So, it's not a simple compilation either. There'd need to be a lot of work put in just to make it passable, as well.

4) All of this trouble just to be mentioned in a YouTube vid...?

5) Why not just wait for the actual full dedicated project that's being put together here about this very story line.?

Unless I'm missing something truly huge here, I just don't see the point to this or why anyone would even attempt this, honestly.

You're doing it more complicated than it is.
It's only a classic theme-contest.
We organize several contests (like this) with other communities about rpgmaker, game maker, etc.etc. and i had the idea to propose one here with mugen.

The video on youtube is of little importance.
Users usually participate to have fun with other developers.

You're doing it more Simplified than it is.
so in end we will have several avx games made by different people?
12 years of mugen, and we only have 2 released mvc like games with marvel hereos (xsc and eoh).

right now some members are doing a hard job doing one avx game and you come with:
"hey lets just put chars and stages at one mugen folder and its done"
maybe i didnt understand correctly...
you have links to other community (rpgmaker, game maker, etc) contest? im curious to see how it ended.

RPG maker and Game maker works much differently.
In RPG maker's case you using default system or making your own, use scripts made by someone else(and there's a large library of them) or making own, then writing plot and mapping, used graphics could be ripped or again from already done stuff and there's not large amount of it - map tiles, enemies, characters, portraits, title, menu + maybe cutscenes. So in month it's very possible to make beta, or even full game.
In Game makers's case you aren't limited in genre, it could be a platformer game for example, coding system there needs knowledge, but there are ready to use systems,which could be adapted to game needs, plot there isn't that important, graphics could be ripped from other games or drawn. If not something very complicated - full game in a month could be done.
As for mugen - it's pretty much what zvitor said, to say it in simple way - compilation is easy and worthless(at least without major tweaks to unify everything), full game takes a lot of time and effort and "a lot" means A LOT (

), time limits is not really mugen thing, you may say that mugen's philosophy is "take as much time as you need, but make it good" which is opposite for time challenges. Let's just wait for IMT's AvX project will be done and enjoy it, game would be great, but it needs it's time to be great or else it wouldn't.

About rpgmaker we're collaborating with the Alex d'or (the national contest of best french games made by rpgmaker); the RPGMkr.net with a contest about anime ; with Makerando.com (the nationl contest of italian free indie games made by several tools) and we're organizing another contest with the admin of a very important forum about 3DRad.

Game Maker and RPG Maker aren't so easy to use if you want create good games. This is a valid thing for all tools.Both Mugen and 3drad, ogre 3d,rpgmkr, multimedia fusion, game maker,etc.

I did not come on this forum to say this. But 'couse i love to make a games and i love to play to the free inde games. Also fighting games.

Make a mini-game with few characters and stages is too easy then create a complete game with 100 characters, many stages,etc.etc.
You can use graphics ripped or again from already done stuff.

Help me to rewrite the first post and create a good and easy contest where the users can interrupt their great games to do , if they want, a simple game to have fun.

Sorry man, but this won't work for us. We're already hard at work with our own AvX project, something that we've been working on from quite some time actually before making a public announcement about it. Why would want to participate on producing what would amount to be an inferior product.

We @ Infinity already catch enough flack from other communities saying that we already produce inferior product, why would we want to perpetuate that stereotype?

I'm not saying that you can go do your thing, what I am saying is that We as a collective are out. I mean no disrespect, but we're not going to attach ourselves to your event, we've got enough on our plate.
