From the looks of the big screenshot, Marvel: War of Attrition takes places during The Civil War.

Yep, I was JUST about to post that I've decided to go with the Civil War era because of it's depth, multitude of characters and storylines, and overall popularity.

I to am not feeling the Cival War angle. The idea of heroes fighting heroes & goverment registration makes me wanta puke. Maybe a storyline ussing the Secret Wars would be stronger & could include everyone. If not then an original storyline would be the right way to go about this. @-)

Well, so much for my campaign ideas  :-??

I'm sorry, I really liked your ideas and boss suggestions, but I was really hoping for a game that would encompass the Marvel UNIVERSE and not focus on one specific rivalry or comic book. The Civil War allows us to remove the black-and-white heroes vs. villains and gives the game more personality and a whole lot more to work with. I can understand you,Electro, when you say you'd rather not see heroes fight other heroes, but this story has so much to offer and it's so captivating that I, and others, thought it would be a good idea to explore this avenue of character development. I honestly get tired of the heroes fighting the villains, then they win, same-old same-old routine, and I think this game could be an excellent way to change it up, much like the series did. This Era also allows us to use a variety of characters from different comics and groups like: New Warriors, Heroes-For-Hire, Masters of Evil(7th incarnation I think, not sure),Secret Avengers,etc....I hope that this storyline selection doesn't deter people who were once interested because I actually think that it's a GREAT Idea and something new to try. I also don't want anyone to feel like I didn't respect their opinions, because it wasn't just my opinion on this and I really DO appreciate the feedback and ideas of the community...Thank You

i'm keen, and i have a lot of marvel wips at the moment, some which you would might want for the game, there's another ideas you probably want also is extended stages, think of having a stage that stretches fairly longand deep and would incorporate multiple rounds, almost like a BOR stage, but playable in mugen, game like this needs the stage to be alive also, e.g the stage of asgard = Bifrost (rainbow bridge) directing to, into Asgard, or Jotunheim, or back to Midgard,
it would play with more than just VS type characters, and more a mix of BOR and MUGEN, other stages can be the X-mansion(with its different levels),
NYcity = subways to (manhattan, hells kitchen, Yancy street, Morlock tunnels) FFbuilding(with its different levels), Shield Hellicarrier (with its different levels)
so on so forth, one small stage seems boring, branch out into a bigger epic arena

Like I told you in PM, I'll share with everyone else, I think this is a really good idea  :w00t:
Would be more work, but that's not a reason to shy from it...any opinions from the community on this idea?

^^(PM)^ Right Now, I'm working on the character list, trying to get something finalized to send to the group, so any suggestions would be helpful. I'm also gonna be working to find all of the different resources we'll need for the characters when it comes time to code such as comic book effects, sounds, portraits, etc.

Looking for talented spriters who are interested in making unique characters that have yet to be "mugenized" as well, PM me.

SN:Always open to ideas and criticism, just post it all here!!! :)

making unique characters that have yet to be "mugenized"

This right here is what is truly needed. i support that right there man.  we already have a ton load of the same ole faces and the ones that have been done new to mugen could use some more working on them. but updates come as they do. but if you can pull off bringin to life characters from the marvel world thats never been done and the gameplay is tight and fun then it should be all good. Our crew have a nice size project as well and alot is using bases and editing them into new characters never been done and even ground up work.

So believe in your project and when you come across avenues that might not work cause  i had a feature i wanted would have required basically reworkin the engine to pull it off so ....nahhh it got scrapped on that idea.  But do take the advices from vyn, acey and others and formulate what can and cannot be done based on the engines design and its possibilities so if you hit a wall then have a backup plan and improvise well bro.

I wish you well on your project homie and i definetly wanna see alot more fresh faces in your project to be mugenized.

take your time and stick with it. ::salute::

^^(PM)^ Thanx man, that really means a lot...I agree that mugen needs new characters and it's time that some old ones got the justice they deserve. I hope to be as successful as Acey,Vyn, and the rest, because their work over the years has inspired this whole project. I appreciate your kind words and support and hopefully in time, we'll both be successful in or efforts to give more to the mugen community!

No problem homie.  i like to see new fresh stuff comin into mugen world. its what helps keeps mugen alive and as well brings some keen innovational ideas to try out. you never know if an idea will work until you research it, get help and feedback on can it work and is possible and as even more so.. try it out. lol
I really wanna see what characters will pop out from what you guys have planned. there are TONS of marvel characters not yet tapped into mugen. i am still waiting on a Shatterstar to show up. lol. might have to make him myself one day. lol .

as for those character tranformations you plan to have, i have something similiar but just to certain characters and for only their Hypers that they do have it for. and as was said tho, one would indeed have to sprite an entirely seperate 257 blah blah moves for it.  So if you do even plan a shortcut route ,  a hyper transformation would be cool and easier to pull off. yeah its a lil less work and not as flamboyant but it can be applied out the box  style depending on how well you wanna make it flashy. Buty hey man... go all out ! Nothing ventured..,. nothing gained. and since your project doesnt have a release date set that gives you alot of elbow room to manuever. which is great. using the same method myself. lol . but hey if you dont have it , i have the transformation code . I have to get it off one of my usb flash cards so ehh its my lil contribution if you dont have it already. ;D

Yeah That's probably what I'll end up doing as well, along with utilizing the pallete system of mugen 1.0, it was a nice idea, bit it's too much work on the spriters and would take an crazy amount of time, lol
And I would really appreciate that code, just send via PM whenever.

Soooo Many Characters have Yet To Be Created And We Plan To Contribute Quite A Few New Ones So Stay Tuned ;)

NP bro. when i get on the other cpu i will load up my files on my usb and will try and zip it and mediafire it to you.  your still gonna have to do some of the coding work to get those transformations to trigger right or whoever your coders will be.  but def i will search it for  you in my files unless someone here as well has it. check in the Open Source  section here to see if ones available as well.

Hey I'm in the midst of coming up with concepts for the arcade mode and I thought it might be a great idea to throw in a few scrolling stages that pit characters against rioting citizens, Shield agents, and the Thunderbolts....any comments or ideas???

Didn't know how to update and ask this question without "double posting" so sorry

But I'm trying to come up with an effective BOSS...I don't think it would be enough to face characters against Captain America or Iron Man..... almost want to add my own small part to the storyline, tha would fit in perfectly, and allow me to have a more unique and special BOSS.....

what do you guys think??

stick with the story and use Iron Man?
or
make a small addition to the story and use a better boss?
