rap is one of the four elements of hip hop

rap is just a piece of it

Hip hop is the main deal haha

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T_fKNk3HQQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2Zfj5_Se5c

dont blame the south...well just not texas

just find songs you like do a mix between "bad" and good

for me i got double the "good" songs than the "bad"

but they just tryin to feed they families so i cant hate even if they are fake as f()ck

All I ever hear from rap now adays is how big someone's private parts are or how much money they can waste on fancy cars, women, or just tossing it arround to show off.

Rap has potentical, it could have been lots better, but all i ever hear from the people who blare it on their oversized car speakers is how much girls want them and how much cooler they think they are then everyone else.

Whats the point, it seems like its all about vanity and lust.

Me, ill stick to rock.

I believe we are all stating the same thing, and Alexiq you are correct and very observant about the underground resurgence. I loved early gangsta rap as that is the era I come from, I lost revolutionary feelings about hip hop after we lost Pac, & Big and the rest of the rap world seemed to fizzle out becoming watered down version, from the Wu to Jay Z, hell even q-tip. I began to listen to 80's rock, and some 70's, I fell for bands like fleet wood mac, and air supply. There are a few rappers that display good lyrical skill, even if their content is questionable. I personally think the combination of the two Rap&Rock is the inevitable future of both genres. As Rock encompasses the idea of the artist in the instrument, and Rap the artist of lyrics. Perhaps once rap develops from this dance craze we will see the competition of real lyricist continue and we can be back to the rap we all knew and loved

I don't listen to the new stuff. I think most of it is trash. I prefer to listen to hip hop from the nineties and old school hip hop.

90's for me and other rappers that helped Adult Swim out with the music bumps.

Snoop Dogg
Ice T
Eminem
Beastie Boys
Linkin Park

Those are the only people involved in rap that I'll listen to.

exactly i think artists like wayne, kanye, T.I. have evolved as artists and u cant define their music as just rap now no disrespect to the classics but you gotta move with the times when biggie and pac were out every one was bitching about how the content of there music wasnt like other rap " this aint real hip hop" then came the late ninetys eminem and then all the way till 50 cent came out "this aint real hip hop" and every new artist especially now lil wayne "this aint hip hop" what hip hop aint supposed to evolve it aint sposed to change hip hop was built on change, it was engineered from disco i mean whatever it decides to be is what it is. I get that musically if you respect the lyrical content and production values of an era thats what you like but you cant say what it is now sucks because your shunning the very change that what you listen to was built on. sorry for the rant but as an artist myself i just get tired of everyone saying "rap today sucks" no disrespect to anyones posts i just felt that had to be said

And thats exactly wat it is
its hip-hop now adays
rap is (well in my opinion) has to be a lyricist in a way
Have you ever compared the lyrics from lil wayne to the lyrics from cassidy

(Lil Wayne)Swagga like us
No one on the corner has swagger like moi, Church
But I'm too clean for the choir
I require, but I desire, I got stripes, A-di-das
Mami scream "Papi no mas!"
Run up in your crap just me no mas

(Cassidy)aim for the head
nd I’ma grind cuz im shinein' on the strip steel
And I grip steel, still keep the clips filled
Everything I spit real
Everything I spit ill
Everything I spit sick for real my shits sick

i think cassidy and a couple artist i know are way better rappers than lil wayne
i take the lyrical contents
but there underrated or not in the spotlight

I think rap these days are more based on making money and not  sendin' out a message!
The reason most people like these songs is because they think they will be made fun if they don't like(and I'm not talking about all the songs these days, some of them are really good)Some people i know think i'm crazy cause i don't have Lollipop on my I pod, and when i ask them why they like it some of them actually said they liked it cause everyone else did.....That got me very angry cause i hate when people act... well fake
Right now i'm listening 2 some eminem songs, and i don't care if they aren't in style right now!!!!!!!

For real, my ipod has nothing but Lil Wayne, and it gets passed around my whole damn school, you should see the play count for Lollipop.
