Some sad news today. Past Saturday, on May 13th American voice & former '90s TV star John Cygan Passed Away after a battle with cancer. T
Cygan played in many different television productions, animated movies and video games over the years.Cygan is best known for playing Paulie Pentangeli in "The Commish," the ABC police dramedy that aired from 1992 to 1996. Michael Chiklis, who also starred on the series with Theresa Saldana and Kaj-Erik Eriksen, mourned the loss on Twitter.
"Impossible to adequately describe the magnitude of his loss to my family and I," Chiklis wrote. "We started our friendship by playing best friends in The Commish... Sometimes art does imitate life. You are loved, adored and horribly missed Johnny. I know this... Heaven just got a lot funnier. RIP brother."
Cygan, a New York native, got his breakout role on Bob Newhart's sitcom "Bob" as the head of Ace Comics. Cygan also appeared on "The X-Files," "NYPD Blue" and "Modern Family."
In later years, he worked primarily as a voice talent for Pixar movies like "Cars," "Wall-E," "Monsters University" and "Inside Out," most notably voicing the green half-man, half-insect action figure Twitch in "Toy Story 3
The New York Daily News reports John Cygan died Saturday at his home in California.
Cygan also contributed to video games, voicing Dash Rendar for several "Star Wars" titles and Iron Man/Tony Stark for Marvel games. His credits include "Halo," "Grand Theft Auto," "Final Fantasy XV" and he will be remembered for his awesome performance of Solidus Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. His most recent video game work was for Mafia III.
He's survived by his wife, Cathy, and children, Jack and Annie.
He was 63.
