Setting the level of the AI:
Open venom.cns and look for this line "sparkno = 2", the 2 is the level of the AI, Change
that number to the desired AI Level
0 - No AI
1 - Easy
2 - Normal
3 - Hard
4 - Tough
5 - Random Levels(1-2)
6 - Random Levels(1-3)
7 - Random Levels(2-3)
8 - Random Levels(1-4)
Any value above 8 will set venom at "Tough", for the "Random Levels" the AI will be randomly
chosen between the listed AI Level's at the start of each round....
Example:
If your AI level is set to 6 (Random Levels(1-3)), at the start of each round the AI level
will be set at either Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3.

I personally like fighting against this Venom more than XCB's. This one sports more of a challenge. Finish it soon, Mmm'kay?
But, really, the AI on this Venom is pretty good.

Yo, Sludge! my fellow Californian! dude, this venom's pretty wild, he definitely looks like a comic book character in comparison to the original, good AI too, did a quick match with spidey against venom - venom is pretty solid man, congrats. nicely done

I'd have to say this is the best Venom out there, he's just amazing and I love the combo system. I'd love to see you make Spiderman Sludge ;D Awesome Venom and awesome work Sludge, I hope to see more ;)

I do like this Venom but IMO i think you should make this venom as close to MVC2 as possible but add more moves cuz i do think it sucked that he only had 2 hypers. but otherwise great venom

Posted an update of venom, refer to first post for the link..
Not much is new, the venom web hyper received a small change (pauses), and the reason for the update was to add my new AI system into him, just like i did with jill. He's set to level 7 by default...Enjoy!

wow I like this venom it. It plays smoothly as if its str8 from the arcade. Let me ask you, can you adjust the AI of all characters the way you adjusted yours?

only if they were made that way, besides some of my character's the only other one i know of is seth's spiderman, which is where i got the idea from.
Forgot to mention i have gotten rid of that ugly "hippy" pallet and replaced it with a brown pallet.

this venom is godd all im asking plz plz get some other sound for his punchs and kicks it dont sound right with thuos poping and cliking sound but other then that its goood the best venom ever

The "pop" and "click" sounds come from your screen pack.

yup, my characters use your screenpack's default hit sounds, and yes i do vary them. I guess you guy's are just spoiled with some release's that have their own hitsounds like wonderwoman (and thor... i think)

I haven't touched him in a while, i see a few thing's that could use some touch up's, but nothing that would dramatically affect gameplay. If you have any specific ideas then run them by me.

Yeah, touchin up. The black pallette seems like it's lost some definition, not enough lines to seperate shading or something.

Yeah and? I read that on page one. I'm just saying the black pal could use some work. But like he said, that does not affect gameplay. But if I had to choose, I'd use XCB cause the detail is clearer.

anyway, hope do go make some characters with great AI, sludge man, you frickin' ROCK, you're a MONSTER when it comes to creatin', love it. you're the guy who can bust em out at an incredibly fast rate and it's awesome. love fighting against venom with the AI you've made, it's great.

jus wondering will venom have more hypers? I hated mvc2 for making him not have any real venom-like hypers. I mean like its venom and hes 7 feet tall but the best he can 4 a hyper is venom web and the thing with venom snakes on the ground. He needs a truly creative move that makes u go whoa now thats special.

To bring this thread up to speed again, post up your idea's for another hyper that venom should have, DT might be willing to do some custom sprites for him.
I'll also be going through him and tightening up some game play aspects. PS: I'm always on the lookout for hyper bg's (custom one's).

have Venom say "we wanna eat your brains" then he jumps on the opponent and bites on their heads then a black out screen then a re appearance having the opponent on the ground out cold.

how bout venom webs down the opponent like his hp grab then proceed to beat the crap out of the opponent or u can the web the opponent up idea except have it where he stays in the web for a long time but you do ur own combos on the ground but the web doesnt get knocked back of course. sort of like a webbing but with a time limit on it so u better get in as much hits as possible. how many hypers are u willing to add to venom?

Essentially, i can code just about anything, only thing that is a limit to me is the sprite-ing (because i can't sprite). But the hyper has to fit the character. Basically there is no limit to how many i would possibly add. Like i already said once, be kinda fun to give him spiderman's maximum spider hyper.

Why don`t you make a hyper based on Spidey`s Ultimate Web Throw with Venom style?
You hit the web,then venom starts slamming the opponent arround the stage and finish it with a huge "bite" attack
you don`t have to sprite a lot(maybe the initial web and the finisher) and it looks really cool imo :)

Ideas:
New Hyper: venom the madness (transforms to this venom to do a hyper combo finish): http://www.virtualtoychest.com/v/venom/venom.html
and/or:
when defeated on final round and has max level, you see eddie laying on the ground while the symbiote gets up (like on spiderman 3) into this giant creature that shrieks (ressurection code but only gets back 1/4th of life with double the defense) and you will have to "neutralize it" (by fighting it)((ai only move)).

i guess for one quick and easy hyper u could give that maximum spider hyper except dont make him kick. maybe make him do venom fang animations across the screen with the last one biting with the words CHOMP as he closes his mouth. as another hyper it could be a hyper venom web and you can have him slam the opponent all over the place including the ceiling walls and floor until finally throwing the opponent away.

What's the deal with The Venom with all the extra little Venom's on his back ? Was that just done to sell a new toy , or did that happen in the comic somewhere ?

It was in the comics. All those symbiotes were. I got that venom and that riot at my house lol. i think there were 2 comics that incorporated either or....venom: the madness AND planet of the symbiots. most of those new symbiots were in separation anxiety comic also.

couple things I never liked about venom.
1.venom was always known to be a brute, he could focus his strength to take on large opponents and go hand to hand with folks like the hulk, it would be nice to see venom throw an actual punch rather than throw his symbiotes all over the place.
2.venom doesn't have web ball, it would be cool for venom to shoot his web in the traditional 2 fists pointing down pose much similar to acey's black suit spidey.
3.some crazy move involving venom's tongue
4.I support shinra358's idea of venom's last ditch effort as anything spiderman 3 related is awesome, aside from vemon getting blown up. ;*))
but these are just ideas, you don't have to listen to me, I'm the crazy lurker who loves venom. lol

I also agree with you I have been thinking the same thing for a while now I think that he should be more like he was in the 90s spider-man cartoon series I mean in that I never once saw him do some of the moves that he does in mugen he never really used his symbiote that much he was much more of a brute like moonmaster1

MVC is more about exagerated moves . Look at all the characters . They are designed to be exagerated with things that they wouldn't do . They already had brute characters . The Hulk , Juggernaut , etc ...
I think it was cool that they added the symbiote twist to venom .
If he jusy beat the snoy out of people , he would probably be a pretty boring character to play with .

As far as the attack sound's he uses whatever designated sounds your screenpack is using for hits. I need to find stronger hit sounds for his venom web hyper, anybody got any?
Among other little thing's tweaked to him his web slam move's have been re-done, it's not mvc perfect but close enough. Wondering if i , should slow his attack speed down a little to make him more of a mvc port or leave him as is, any comments on that?

hey Slulge i got a great idea for a special move or a super move, you could make a move where he shoots a web string at you and does a Scorpion, "Come here like attack"(you kno how scorpion throws the spear, well instead venom throws a strong string of web at the opponent) and then he reels the opponent in and punches them hard butt hell with a haymaker with like a slow motion like thing goin on.... And then the opponent goes flying across the screen... now i kno Venom is ment to be average but this move could show off his tremendous strength.. just and idea.... i kno it can be done ,cus he has that web throw attack

in venom's first appearance in spiderman #300 he does web spiderman "scorpion style" into a haymaker, then ties him up to the bells in the bell tower they fought in. so the idea could work as long as it doesn't get anymore flashy than it already is.
venom could be boring should he be just a brute, and i'm not saying get rid of the symbiote altogether, but i think he should be just as cruel, ready to throw punches, and willing to eat anything in sight.
cause well.......thats what he does. if not for a super, you could have dirt nap run across the screen and eat the enemy causing some damage *everything doesn't have to kill, especially after taking meteorites bazookas to the head* but I think this part may have gotten deleted, so here is a quick wiki article, tell me if it already got posted, again silly little ideas from a fanboy.

I just released the updated version of Venom. Everything is essentially the same as before, some move's got some tune-ups, the web slam move was re-done, and the venom bite hyper was removed (though it's still there for those who want to activate it). Also the problem with mugen crashing when certain character's were caught in the venom web hyper should be solved.
Ðshiznetz supplied me with the VS portrait and i lifted some hitsounds from the dc vs marvel template. There never was an additional hyper added but he is open source for whom-ever to do whatever they want with him.
