Title: Best anti-virus software??
Post by: Lord_Waffles on March 16, 2012, 05:32:05 AM
I've asked a few friends about which brand of anti virus software is the best. I keep getting different answers for them. So, I would be thankful if you guy could let me know which brand of anti virus are you using.

Trend Micro. Before AVG (one for my first and old laptop) and Norton (my old PC).

Instead of asking "What is the best antivirus software?", ask yourself "How much am I willing to pay for antivirus software?".

All free antivirus software only offer basic protection, the best they do is move a virus to quarentine and leave it there. The best picks for free antivirus are still AVG, Avast and Avira, but they all have their own share of flaws. The reason is because of a common practice amongst any software developer: they let you use the most basic tools on the free version of the software, so if you want all the advanced tools you must buy the paid version. Now, if you really want to buy a antivirus, you can pick either Norton or NOD-32.

AVG is actually the WORST antivirus program I have ever encountered in my life.
Get yourself Symantec Endpoint Protection... Even buying it is worth it, bro.

P.S. Spybot S&D works wonders too & it's free.

I have both SEP & SSD on both of my computers and they work amazingly.

^You have to manually update this program once every month or so to keep it updated, by the way.

To tell you the truth honestly, I was recommended by the Geek Squad to use Trend Micro and it's one of the top ten anti-virus. Trend Micro is not a bad anti-virus after all. They installed it to my second laptop which I'm using already.

Lololol. Since when does Geek Squad know what they're talking about? LMAO!
My school used to have trend micro for a while, and it didn't do crap against viruses. Spybot S&D is your BEST bet as far as free antivirus software goes.

Either Symantec Endpoint Protection or Norton360 will work great, if you're willing to pay for antivirus software.

Maybe I forgot about what they did or said, but I do remember they installed it in my second laptop. I'd say it happened 2 years ago.

Anyway, my cousin came to my house to install a different antivirus to my brother's laptop yesterday. I don't know if the download's finished already. BitDefender. I don't know about it.

I use PrivacyProvider.exe to remedy any danger towards my computer.
Don't know where it came from but works pretty damn well.
