Title: Green Goblin
Post by: Acey on August 21, 2008, 06:14:01 PM
Well, nothing's perfect, and I have 4 specific issues with Green Goblin I just havn't addressed yet, one being when he fights other characters who has no Dizzy animation, another being when he air combos and ends up off the top of the screen, fairly easy fixes but I just havn't gotten to it for a month so I figured why make everyone wait because of my lazyness, he's pretty darn good anyways.

I need to express a huge thanks to god_king for the custom vocals he recorded for yet another character. He is a god send and he has also been faithfuly follow the progress of this character. Thanks Dave!

I know people are going to think I'm just being biased because Ive kinda gotten into it with God King b4, but I really dont get the new sound file at all. Ive never heard Greeney depicted that way, and while the sounds are decently produced I think the old voice was by far superior, and sounded true to form.

Anyway no disrespect meant, but will the old soundfile work with this version?

One of the reasons why the release was delayed was because I never had a chance to do the screen shots for this post (since I'm at work), so I decided to just use the old video for this release.

Yeah no offense but I think the previous voice was also far superior than the current voice. I mean imo this voice just doesn't suit the Green Goblin. Also, the sounds themselves are really low in volume. And one other thing that is wierd is Aunt May coming out to help the Green Goblin in one of the supers. Err why would she help the Green Goblin after everything he's done? Everything else seems good.

PS: DOES the previous sound file work with this version? And if so can someone post it because I deleted it. :(

well the popular ones were the green goblin, hobgoblin, and demogoblin.
there were other ones too but werent that important.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Goblin#Other_Goblins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Goblin#Other_Goblins)

they name a couple there, like grey goblin and protogoblin
but never really heard of them before.

Hi Acey,

Okay got around to playing him here is my input.

First of all GREAT stance and dash animations!

His crouching style looks very cunning, fantastic it makes it seem like he's really lowered his glider for evasion. The hands and/or arms could use some changing for down hard kick (machine gun fire move) they resemble Spideys hand gestures.

The new Goblin Lazer attack looks tight. There is however room for improvement. While Goblin is shooting the beam he should be facing his target. Also here is something alot of Mugen creators forget to add to MvC beam users, their hitsparks.

(http://img205.imagevenue.com/loc97/th_68410_Beamspark_122_97lo.jpg) (http://img231.imagevenue.com/loc32/th_73407_Beamspark2_122_32lo.jpg)

Adding beaming sparks to Goblins Lazer will make it look prettier. ;) If your looking for a crowd pleaser this is definitely it. Plus it feels natural since this particular spark animation is in most MvC titles.

Probably the only thing that seems a little off is the Goblin intro and I suppose the super as well. Canon wise the Hobgoblin and Green Goblin are supposed to be mortal enemies. Besides Darktalbain is working on a Hobgoblin and I like his Goblin as well as your Green Goblin... I often pit them against eachother to see who will out last the other. :D I don't know, I guess what I am saying here is I prefer them both as being seperate characters, same goes for Demo. Demo is actually my favorite Goblin, Maximum Carnage PWNS! Although I respect Green Goblin more for his villaness accomplishments in the Spidey universe I always thought Demo was the coolest Goblin. But hey, if you wish to still keep them in that's fine by me just letting you know what my thoughts are.

However if ever you do decide to replace 1/2 of the above Goblins then I got a couple of choices for you. One would be Jack O' Lantern (Jason Philip Macendale Jr.). In addition to him there is also the new Hobgoblin from the mid 90's who was featured in the Blood Brothers story arc. During that time Ben Reilly was working Peter's job taking care of business as Spider-Man. I remember that version of Hobby dealt Ben a brutal thrashing. I think that Hobs is different from Roderick Kingsley isn't he? I forget what exactly Kingsley was doing during that time period but I'm almost certain he wasn't involved in any crimes in the clone stories, he may have been on vacation.

Here is a picture of him:  (http://img215.imagevenue.com/loc218/th_73408_Spider79s_Prey_122_218lo.jpg) (http://img215.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=73408_Spider79s_Prey_122_218lo.jpg)

Just a couple of more things to add here. The super jump looks like it needs a different animation and Goblin Barrage, when blocked, the sparks only are only active above head when they should be right on the target person blocking. Throw could be a bit more creative. Other than that everything is good, The Green Goblin seems further along in development than The Human Torch.

Hope this helps! Best of luck to you Acey.

Yeah with Hobgoblin I tried to go with the angle that the Goblin's really don't like each other . That's the way I remember things in the Spidey universe . So with Acey's permission I have Green Goblin in the intros & Hobby is fire missles & things at him . I think it adds something extra that our characters are linked . If your fighting Green goblin with & my intro with Green Goblin comes up . It would still make sense because The one you are fighting could be Norman & the one in my intro is Harry . Acey could use the same reasoning with Hobgoblin because there were a few of them . I think both our characters have taken a life of their own & seem like different characters when you play them , but yet similar enough to know that they both use the same technology . Just like in the comic .

I don't know if I told Acey or not , but I will take this opportunity to do so . If she wants to use Hobgoblin in anything with the Green Goblin character to link the 2 even more , she has permission to do whatever she wants with Hobgoblin . Just don't kill him is all I ask  :DxDie

I agree , something long where they talk back & forth  to each other or something . Who can code it ?  :-"

hey Acey

love the Goblin in fact i love all the goblins but i got to ask u somin?

I no someone already asked u this but why is there a darker green goblin in ur intro/ hyper?

Is its sapposed to be Hairey's dad or son?

To add more depth to the chacacter insted of using a different form of the green Gobs y not use another over looked but popular Goblin like u have with Demo.

Try Jack-o-lantern =D>

I no dat u r far in ur development process but the ideal was some bite to it.

 >:-(-|

your recent sprite edits i r done quit well, perferct 4 the standard mugen. I would really love to c ur work in high res.

Ur still one of my favorite creatures. Keep it up :)

Personally Ive changed my mind on the sound file. While I think the tone is a little deep for Gobby, I totally understand the desire to give him a custom snd.

I was thinking you might want to give his Lazer attack the traditional sounding MvC blast sound when it hits. I uploaded the wave file for you.

http://www.2shared.com/file/3925659/7037e773/Blast_Noise__when_hit_.html? (http://www.2shared.com/file/3925659/7037e773/Blast_Noise__when_hit_.html?)

It's up to you whether you want to use it or not. I highly recommend it if you want a realistic hit collision on the lazer.
