I thought that I should finally create a topic for my WIP, which is, as you can probably guess Ada Wong  :P

I have gone over her design many times, and I have finally settled on this look for her

Well, there *is* a Leon... not particularly great, but not particularly horrible either.

Also, Ada looks a bit too muscular.

She has many bases, CVS Chun-li, CVS Maki, the walk is from the few sprites of Poison in SF3, a little Rose is in there as well.

And yep, her RE4 dress is going to be in there, but you'll have to wait and see as to how I incorporate it (I already have the sprites of it)

That's great news. With so many bases, I know she'll come out real original. :) At the very beginning of wanting to make a WIP, I was thinking of making Ada out of B. Jenet, so I'm really glad someone is making her. ;D

It's based off the RE2 look which was a Maroon type color like the sprites.

Ada's dress colour seems to vary in RE2. In the render it is a pink colour, but the in game model is red.

I've settled for a colour in between the two and as you say it can always be sorted out with palettes.

well the pink render hurts my eyes, so I'm glad you used the shade that you did. the kick looks great, I only question if it wouldn't be better suited for a mid kick instead of a light one.

I need some advice on how to go about the shading of the skirt. I have three variations of it, but which is the best?

Remember that this is a tight dress/skirt and so the shading should reflect that.

I've settled on option number 1, using Shermie's shading as a base for Ada. It's a lot easier to make it consistent therefore as I have a base to go by.

I'm just going through all the old sprites now and updating them to reflect the change and I'm liking the results.

Thanks peeps!! At the moment I'm still trying to find a good head as I feel the current head doesn't look like Ada. I'm also doing the get hits, in which Cammy is playing a surprising large role, as well as a few fun sprites, in which Shermie is great at, although editing her sprites is a huge pain!!! 

I'm going home for a week in two days time, and I'll be leaving my computer here, which means no progress, but afterwards I'll still have 2 1/2 weeks of free time!!

It does now face the other way as I agree it looks better that way. To fit it in MUGEN I cropped it a little bit an resized it to fit the standard portrait size, so in truth this isn't the actual portrait, but merely the completed picture I've done for the portrait, if that makes sense.

So while I've been away from my own computer this week I've been thinking about what sort of specials and hypers to give Ada. She has got to the stage where I need to start on these. I have had a bit of trouble thinking of what moves to give her. Her basics at the moment are a Chun-li/Cammy/Maxi mix, so they involve some originality and I want her specials and hypers to reflect this.

So far I have planned:

Specials: Pistol shot, Machine gun, Grapple swing (think Spider-man's web swing) and maybe a few acrobatic attacks, not sure what else, any ideas?

Hypers: This is where I'm a bit stuck. I was thinking a Rocket launcher, seeing as in RE2 she just happens to have on available to whoever is fighting Mr. X, but I'm thinking this may be too similar to Jill. Any ideas peeps?

Also I would like some help in ripping some sounds for her, especially get hit sounds from RE2, as I have other sounds mostly covered from youtube rips. Can anybody help me with this?

P.S She has a new head, a much better one than CVS Chun-li, which I feel suits her much better, I'll post some screens next Saturday for you all to see. Just hope some Resi fans are looking forward to her (recognition leads to motivtion  :P)

Try to have in mind all of her movements from RE4 for some ideas.

For Hyper attacks you could have her do an attack with a machine gun, a fast attack with her gun (With the Punisher gun from RE4 maybe?)  or something like that, or maybe with a Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle like the one she got on RE4.

Another idea I have in mind is an attacks where she evades a zombies/dogs/crows or any other monster you got in mind or maybe an hyper attack where Mr. X or the T-003 appears and try to attack her, then she avoid the attack and your opponent receive the damage (Like the "Look at the pretty white light!!!" hyper that Jill have. ;*))).

Also...
You could make the Rocket hyper attack but try to make it with its look from RE2 or RE4 to make it a little bit different from the one Jill uses (RE and RE3).

Hope that helps a little bit.

PS: I will see what can I do for some voice clips.

I have an idea for a hyper. How about Ada inject herself with the T-virus?
She turns monster/zombie and attacks your foe with some blood thursty
attacks.....Just though of a super, have Ada inject the other player with
the virus. This will cause the other player to move slowly like a zombie.

I'm liking the Sniper Hyper, would it be possible through coding to have her aim a reticule before firing?

sniper hyper (lol) sounds awesome, having it automatic would be enough,no need to make it aimable. los plagas/ganados as stikers would be awesome.

When I was thinking about making my own Ada (really huge fan of RE4), I was thinking of using Jill's hyper with that monster that comes out of the light (don't know who it is) and have it pretty much the same but replace him with a Garrador. I think that would be really awesome to see. Not to mention what blunted suggested about including the Ganados/Los Plagas. :) In any case, can't wait to see progress on her and that sniper hyper should definitely be good. :thumbsup:

The rocket launcher everyone is thinking about is not what RE char use. They use a rocket propelled grenade or RPG which is very different. So I can't see how that would be similar to the rocket launcher Jill uses.

Not necesary zombies that Jill summon...
They could be police zombies, scientist zombies and other zombies with a look from the RE2 game.

I think I had some sprite edits of zombies that doesn't look like the ones Jill have on MvsC2 made by ThePizzaman.
I'll look for that pic and send it to you when I can so you can have an idea about what I mean.

Instead of the dogs you could add the licker (Red or Green one), giant spiders, the big crocodile or even the plants could be other options for different strikers.

And for hypers don't forget Mr. X or his T-003 form and we also can't forget William Birkin and all of his different forms.

Lol, well thanks very much. Ada is a little slow at the moment due to a little turmoil at home, but she is coming along well. Most of her basic attacks are done, which didn't take long at all. She looks a little different to what is shown here due to a new selection of bases as well as a new head, but believe me, you won't be disappointed.
With Mr X, I may consider it, but it depends on my other Resident Evil projects and how they come along.

(I'm typing this slightly tipsy so if there are any mistakes with either spelling or grammar then don't blame me lol)

Trust me your reply came across just fine Dead-x no complaints here and as for being disappointed with ada if the one you have in the works is  anything like the one on display here disapointment wont even come into it well at least not from me anyway pesonally I think she looks just as good as Jill if not better.

One other thing I wanted to mention was that I to have been trying to make more of the resident evil characters and make improvements on some of the ones already released as well  by using fighter factory heres a list of what I have done so far (note that when I say near complete I mean there sprites as I have not figured out how to change, Rip or add sounds to characters yet)

Wesker in his code veronica uniform (very cool looking) about 20% complete edit of the current wesker

Nemesis about 50% complete edit of the current nemesis

Jill with remake look shes done but for some reason her sprites get stuck in the game sometimes and I dont know why :-??

Thanatos second form (from outbreak) and Bandersnatch (those yelow things with the streachy arm from code veronica) both Tyrant edits and both routhly about 25% complete

Alexia first mutated form edit of pshylock and about 70%complete shes not that far from being completed now

Mr x Edit of a character called Q who is quite simlar in more ways than one to mr x however Im haveing trouble making this guy because Im having to make some parts of him from scatch mainly his head because Q wears a hat  hes about 10% complete though

Spider (the normal yellow coloured ones from the first game not blacktiger) I have only just started this but its one of the easier ones to make so it should not take me to long to finish it

Hunter edit of the green guy from darkstalkers (I forget his name)  I dont think Im that far away from finishing this either

Ada canceled after seeing yours trust me yours is superior by far =D>

I was thinking of makeing Jack krauser and claire redfield as well but I dont know who to use as a base for claire and I am spoilt for choice on weather to use guile or rolento as a base for krauser  :-??


I will finish them all eventually however and will also email any or even all of them to you and any one else who wants them once they are completed consider it as a thank you :thumbsup:for making ada and any other characters from the series that you decide to make in the future.

oh and one last thing before I go just in case you did not know there is a leon being made at the moment on this website MugenBR forums under the mugen wip section and its looking good (just thought you might like to know).

I might just do that ATICE but I want to do a bit more work on them first and Im still learning how to do things at the moment like ripping changing and adding sounds for example. I would like to share them with everyone else  Im just not ready yet thats all.

Thanks. I hope to have her done in the next few months. However this month is way to busy for me (For the next 4 weeks I'm basically a teacher that doesn't get paid, so I've got lots of work to do)
Just remember that the sprites shown here are early sprites, and I have updated them, so they look much better, with more detailed shading and the like.

I do have one question for you, Dead-X, and that is if this char will be small sized in MUGEN (like most of the DBZ chars) or will she be normal sized??
If by normal you mean Capcom vs style, then yes, she will be.

I'm in need of a bit of help here. I have a lot of the basics done except the stance. Strange, yes I know to leave the stance so late, but I just am struggling a lot with coming up with a good one. Any ideas? If anybody wants to have a go at making one for her just PM me and I'll send you some sample sprites so you can see what the new sprites look like.

I'm sorry for the lack of progress recently but I'm very low on spare time (try being an unpaid teacher while still doing assignments)
After this placement however I will have practically finished the year for Uni (there's no exams on my course  :w00t:)and so I will have plenty of free time to sprite Ada.  :o

She can't use nothing but guns, it'd be odd. Look at Jill from MVC2, she's a Resident Evil character and she uses more than just guns. And from RE4 it is quite clear that Ada isn't to be taken lightly when fighting her. Plus her RE:UC profile says she "has undergone rigorous special training in firearms and acrobatics, making her a real pro." I assume she is therefore able to hold her ground in a fist fight.

But don't worry, she has guns and she will use guns. Ada is all about taking the opportunity no matter what it is. But as they say "Nobody knows the real Ada Wong"

This is her final look, a cross between her original RE2 outfit and the reprise of this outfit in RE4 as seen in Mercenaries mode.

In RE2 she had brown flat shoes and black trousers on, cutting off at her ankles. She had brown hair and brown eyes and her dress was slightly pinky

In RE4 she had red heels and brown tights on. She had black hair and green eyes and her dress was a dark red. And she had all the new accessories, such as the gloves which I haven't used and earrings that I have kept.

And yes I realise her hair is the wrong way around and the longer side should be facing us, but then you couldn't see her face so I swapped it around

I feel that doing a mix was the best way to go so that she still retains her original look but with some aspects updated to fit the newer look (like in RE:UC where she has heels/green eyes/tights etc)

And I personally prefer the heels, it makes her seem more sexy and kick butt at the same time, which is what I believe the direction that Capcom was pushing her in from RE2. She was a new woman after that incident in Racoon City and she needed a new look to reflect this.

I think you should rise her right arm from where it is now, to look a little bit more like the edited version that you are using on your avatar.

Or maybe for something different...
You could try to make her keep or hold a gun on her right arm.

I see what you mean Dead-X I never noticed those differences before I was thinking just resi 2 Ada but now that you have pointed that out I can see why you have gone for a mix so Im happy with her again now not that it was a big deal anyway it was just something I noticed that was bugging me a little bit thats all

I've taken the advice of Eclipse and gone over most of the sprites making sure the arms are consistent, as well as taking ATTICE's and adding more ticks so the attacks are a better speed.

I do have a slight dilemma though. I was wondering if I should add the seams on her dress. E.g

I think you should stick to the design you have now until you release a beta. Once you do that, you can go back and add the seams if you're still interested in doing it. I personally feel the seam one does add more to her design. Believe me though, if you keep going back to add/change stuff on her design, she'll take many more months to release. I personally know this.

No, not dead. I just had to take a break due to things. She is moving slightly slow recently due to it being summer, and the fact I have 2 other WIPs I've just sort of started.

And with Ada, you can never tell if she is dead or alive. Remember in RE2!   :D

Whoops. I forgot I removed the palettes.

Should work if you copy the first palette and rename it ada02.act

Or go into the def file and change it to:

pal.defaults=1

I would make a fixed version just now but I'm just off out

Hello again Dead-X I was just wondering if you still have your origional Ada sprites you know where Ada's shoes were different its just that I have a thing for her resi 2 look you see and I personally prefered your origional sprite of her that had her complete resi 2 look to be honest (nothing wrong with her new look its just my personnal preference) I was wondering if you could PM me a sprite of her with origional look for me to copy off for my own personal Ada please (I have fighter factory)  I have tried to do it myself but I cant seem to get it just right but yours was perfect so could you help me out please. ^:)^

(just an after thought) would it be possible to have two versions of Ada one with the red high heels and the other with her origional complete resi 2 look? only if you still have your old sprites though
I wouldnt expect you to redo her sprites from scatch again.

I'm glad you like the stance. It took me ages to come up with what I thought was a fitting stance for Ada
It's a slight modification of her RE2 outfit to include heels as most recent depictions of Ada have her wearing them(Her RE:UC scenario for example, which takes place just after RE2)

Ada is not dead, she was merely acting as such. She does that a lot you see, only to appear when you least expect her   /:O

I've been reviewing her basics recently so she is much more of an original character sprite wise, and also much closer to the actual character of Ada (no more chunky thighs or bulging muscles)

Although it does mean she is slightly smaller than Marvel vs characters I do believe it is a vast improvement over the overly muscular previous sprites. Also by using Shermie it just makes things so much easier with the skirt and she only needs a quick change to fit the vs style!

So here is a preview of what sort of size she is going to be with her new light punch

Really nice sprite work you've done there. Also it's great to here Ada is alive and well.
About the new light punch, I'd have to agree with daraku. The final sprite shows a
stance of power. If that makes sense. To me your new punch looks more like a
medium punch.Sorry if I sound like a jerk. Best of luck in the future

The old looks better because it seem more like a standed punch but the second is better in my oppinion cuz its an more original punch but it doent feel like sumthing Ada would do tho.

About leon : Basically i'm almost done with the sprite revamping and addition of new basic attacks. Still need to make new supers/hypers/intros/endings.
But right now this one is not on the top of my wip list, for different reasons. Basically my health is not that good since the end of last year, and i don't have a real lot of time and some really important things to sort out, so i made a pause in spriting the last weeks (except for pocket chars) to try and not burn myself.
Right now i wouldn't expect him before havok, a few pocket chars and a secret co-wip with a friend are released. Still he will be worked and finished.

To deadX : no problem man, you mentionned from the start you couldn't promise any deadline about your part of the sprites. I don't want to put any pressure on you, i just hope things are getting better on your side, and just take as much time as you need. There is no rush, your life is a priority. As for me i won't start the work on the above mentionned things until i'm totally ready for it, so that's really no problem, just hit me by pm when you'll have some time.

Now unto the subject of the thread, the new light punch is a total improvement i think : Looks weaker than the last one, better sprited and more Ada like.
I don't see how it looks like a medium punch ^^ Anyway, good luck on her  :thumbsup:

Woah, talk about a major bump.

I didn't like the direction I was taking Ada so unless otherwise stated, she is pretty much canned. Plus I have other things I need to concentrate on currently

Nice WIP though, albeit a bit too similar to Jill.
