Yeah, spliting in half isn't very good-looking, but some explosion will do it fine.
Some fast firework-type animation with round particles will suit it well, I think.

Good idea's.  I was going to make him move his eyebrows but for some reason it's not saving the stance animation, I'll have to look at it and try and figure out why.
