Amaterasu MVC3 WIP
« on: January 24, 2019, 12:30:42 AM »
This is my first time posting any of my works in progress.  i have slowly been teaching myself to code, and here is the result.  there is still much work to be done, but he is to the point where he could be a playable beta, and i hope to release a beta soon.  i hope to have more updates soon.  I could not have achieved this character without all the sprite help from Bwwd and Blade.  i am very lucky to be working with such talented sprite artists.  Thank you to both!

HERE IS A VIDEO OF THE PROGRESS!!!

There are some pixel artifacts in the outline as if some animation tool was used (rotsprite or that software Ilu uses for Sword Man). It's more noticeable as a zigzag (in the rear leg, for example) and inconsistent pillow shade.

Nevertheless, it's pretty dope and interesting work. :)

Thank you for the feedback.  he does use an animation tool of some sort.  I have noticed different issues of this sort too.  do you have any suggestions how i can fix, or clean up the problem?  or is doing it by hand my best bet?
thanks again.

Yes, he use the same tool as I use. Probably he will clean it later.

There's not really much you can do for an easy fix...
You can create patterns to help you clean it up manually... but it will still be some level of work.

If you want to fix it, it may be annoying in the beginning, but eventually you will be doing it naturally, just by eyeballing the sprite.

Do you have a stance sprite of the character so I can have a closer look?

here is the stance animation, however this animation was done by hand by blade.  is there a different animation that would better illustrate what you are looking for?

@shanri:
What promise!  Opting to tackle one of Capcom's unique versus series entrants is the sort of respectable venture I can get behind.  It's safe to say that I'm eager to observe her (Amaterasu is female, by the way) progression.

The both of you are off to a great start. 8)

I dont know if this is your first WIP but for a first it's pretty promising.

I do think the fire could use a more natural flow though. Like during the backwards walk, the fire tail should move opposite from Ammy like it was in her forward walk.

thank you.  i have a handful of wips that i have slowly been working on as i learn more about how it all works.  thank you for your advice.  i hope to improve the smoothness as i improve my own spriting capabilities.
