(WIP) Thunderstrike
« on: June 29, 2008, 04:32:08 PM »
Hi everybody!

After downloading and enjoying the work of all of you extremely talented people in the Mugen community, I decided that I needed to give something back.  So here, I present my 1st project, Thunderstrike!

Some of you may recognize him from the arcade game Avengers Galactic Storm.  I recently came across that game for MAME, and while its not very good, it features some characters not yet featured for Mugen.  The game uses graphics similar to Killer Instinct, so the characters have a 3d look.  He looked pretty blocky, so I used Gimp to blur the pixels a bit to give him more a 2D look, and I used his 2d lifebar pic for his face since it had more detail, and to make him look more "cartoonish" like the Capcom fighters.
Since this is my first WIP, I'd appreciate any tips or criticisms to help me improve.  Mame doesn't have any features for turning off backgrounds, which makes taking this guys sprites out a very tedious process.  Does anyone know of any alternative arcade emulators that might have more options for this than Mame?

Edit: Forgot to add this link for those who don't know of Thunderstrike or maybe forgot him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Masterson

Not sure the bluring works i think you should either create it as it is intended to look or edit Capcom sprites to become Thunderstrike.

Maybe if you post the unedited sprite, it would give a better idea of what youre working with comparitively. Wish you good luck either way though.

I know that game. The chars are all well done and them look a bit 3d but not much. anyway if i can help you, i wanna tell you that exist a program that names Artemony. With this program you can capture the frame animation from game and is not necessary to take off backgrounds from sprite, but i not tried never, my friends told about this, and i believe it's a little hard to use
