well i will start posting edit from now on.. i hardly like to do this but its cool and helps you get better.. so lets start with a dc character and who better than superman... maybe i wip him when i finish doing marvel characters and start with dc.. jk. lol!!!!

I even love the color hues chosen to shade him. gives some pop to the character and not flat. Something Batz told me to try as well so i still got lots to learn about adding some touches like you guys do with ease. lol .
he looks like he would be an official wip . ::salute::

Man, it's going to be tough for me to match these. That last sprite was just amazing! I liked the Superman sprite, but the hands and head needed to be sized down some, then he'd be good. By the way, how is the Gotham Knights project coming along? I know you cats have been pounding away at that thing for a good while now, I'm just waiting for Batman and Robin. :Terry

wow, i think the only thing that needs resize its the hands.. i didnt do it for been lazy.. ill fix some things later on and post it here..
about the project, its going.. but im focusing more on msh2 to be honest..
by the way im open for ideas on who else to sprite.. i got some good choices but its good to know who else might be good for spriting.. any dc or marvel only..

Cool Hyperion edit Verz! :thumbsup:
Suggestion for spriting.... You can change a few things for a new sprite edit with the current/modern Hyperion that's part of the Avengers now.
Marvel always trying to do a poor analogue for Superman, there's so much versions of this Hyperion character along the years until they replaced this role with Sentry. And now that Sentry was killed by Thor... Marvel started to develop again another Hyperion, there's a new version on the Avengers books now that's pretty cool actually.

yeah tom its urien based.. that one its obvious.. i think it fits a move for some majic thing.. maybe in the near future ill try some new moves for a doom character.. also found some things that can work for more punches and basics.. so yeah thanks for the support guys..

Yeah I always thought Doom needed more magic attacks. He's one of Marvels top sorcerers after all!
A slightly revamped Doom would be cool for MSH2. Perhaps not as extreme as Cyclops but with a few magic moves.
Always will be amazed how closely you are able to make any base look like a Capcom shaded character. They are always so perfect, especially considering some of the bases and scratch work you used go Cyclops!

dev... it was but not so sure now.. to be realistic here, i would love to have so many cool characters but if we really want to release something soon, we gonna need to cut down the size of the roster.. right now loganir and i are focusing on electro at the moment.. after that one we need to see what we do next but lets talk about that later.. this here are some of my early works plus whatever else i sprite that i can share here... im not that type of spriter that like to do so many edits.. i like to spend my time in making characters. but once a while why not, i can do an edit here and there... anyways hope you guys like this ones.. ill try to make more in the future... :)

Now that's a lot of cool epicness, verz! :) Though Thanos portrait isn't finished, he looks excellent, but will look more excellent when it's done! BTW That Thanos sprite version of yours looks way better than what Capcom did though.

thanks for the support guys, I just want to say for those here that don't know that warmachine is a wip.
he got a lot of things done. I just finished with a big head sheet for him. he got a cool smart pallete that will allow for many armors. he is not just a recolor copy of iron man like Capcom did. he got many different basics, specials and hypers. with the new head and few things edited, he looks way different than iron man. I hope to be able to make a video soon to show..

Looking at our left, his should seams to move out of the place, like it is detached from the body.
I suggest you to transform the border, which is plain, in something like a slope. Dunno if you understand me.

hey O, I see what you saying about the shoulder, I made it like that on purpose. I though that its like a regular shoulder that if you move your arm up or down, it should have movement too. so you think it should just stay put and don't move? I can change it and see if it looks better. im going to give it a shot, not too familiar with how armors work, so thanks for this feedback bro. im still learning animations. the other thing you saying I don't understand. if you can show me, It will help me and thanks man.. the goal here is to make it as natural as possible :)

been working some more on good old doc.. here I bring you what is going to be his arcade intro port.. will make a hyper port too something like this but different torso and the tentacles directed towards the opponent. hope you guys like it so far, its still a long way to go with all the details I need to add.

about warmachine, I got all taken care, thanks. he has a cool smart pal and a new head. just need to make few basic attacks that I been working on and some new cool specials and hypers.. im replacing heads slowly and making that smart pal on the sprites..
about my big ports, im just showing some of the work. but I wont be posting them finished. ill make videos and show off my stuff. if I post them finished, I know they will make their way into some guy we know port pack with credits to him only...I have many more that I been doing. basically 1 or 2 for each of the characters that im working on.. did a cool warmachine one that I still need to finish too.
oh and thanos, yes I always wanted to make one with better sprites, you can tell Capcom did not do a good job on him and it shows in the lack of shading.. a cool shading thanos with few new things would be awesome I think..

Lol!!!! It's not marrow. It's crane I resized her a bit and did the boots like rogue style. I added many details to make outfit look shinny. And yes I recovered all my work, thank god. Will work on my wips all together. Not going to concentrate in just one for now. For spider woman I got a lot of cool stuff for her. I want to show her fighting side since she was trained by taskmaster. Won't be showing much do to the you guys know.

Verz bro! This is very well done and detailed! Cool pose for her and I really want to see how you roll with that idea of her fighting mechanics via tutelage from Taskmaster. That should be some real deal moves for her in skills and not a usual spider clonage we done seen around used. You do great work bruh! My favorite marvel sexy lady!! ^:)^

Is there a reason why you haven't released anything recently? Some of your work on these characters is amazing but I can't yet experience it so it's like it's not real. I could die any day now having never experienced any of your new work. Maybe it's time to release something even if it's a broken mess.

thanks for the support guys. I always work on something. im on the art side of things and that's why I like mugen so much.
@ electro, im not sure what im going to do with my work. I do this for self enjoyment and from the things that are happening and going on I have lost some of the excitement of releasing anything. still im going to keep working on my characters and the game I been working on. ill try to put together some things when the time is right and show videos of the characters for you guys to see. but im not sure whats going to happen so lets see what the future will hold. as of now I consider my work private, will show a sprite or 2 but no animations unless is thru videos but for that I rather wait till I put characters together and show them off on videos.. mugen is too much fun and I think I will always be around. I do miss the good old days when there were more cool and original characters coming out.
@ lando, lol!!! cake is the best......... I want to show her as sexy as she is and can be.. I hate the new custom that marvel gave her.. they messed up.

There is no more how to control content mugen unfortunately. Or you accept the changes, keeps private or retires.
I feel a certain nostalgia for the old days, when there was scruffydragons, The wips to loganir and its partnership with him, pity that good things ending.

Beto, this problems were back then too but most sites would help control this and the fans would also help. The community was more together. Now u got many people that just want more characters on their roster even if it's just a recolor of another one. there is no critique like before and we even have a site that will ban people for just saying anything that is not how great the character is.

for now any work on him on my part is on hold.. I have few wips that have a lot of progress and my free time is not a lot this days. got too much work to do and not that much time for mugen. so I think is better if I work on the other wips for now. in the future i can keep working on him..

Uche, I don't like to give % on my wips because it depends how u look at it. For example I'm remaking cap Bucky with many new stuff at the same time I'm working on a smart pal for him. So it's hard to put a % on that. But I can tell you that I been working mostly on doc ock, spider woman, cap Bucky and war machine. Those have a lot done and a lot of the ideas are also semi sprited. For now I have no plan on releasing anything so I rather work on all at the same time. I'm remodeling my house myself and my job keeps me busy so I Sprite when I get time. I'll update you guys on my work when ever I can. Like I said before I'll try to put some videos together when the time is right. I have other wips too but they are not on top of my must get done list. I'm still working on the game and the roster can't be that big to be able to get it done and characters take a lot of time and time sometimes we don't have much. And all character need to be same quality so it can look like a real game and not a recollection of different characters.

If I am not mistaken, you had lost some of your works some time ago. Try to pay attention, save frequently your works.

I had a crash but I was able to get back all my work. I took it this place that repair computers and they were able to recover my files but it cost me some money. Now I got an external drive for backup. Plus I spent a while making DVDs of data from my files just in case. Won't run into the same problem ever again. I was sad when it happened not too much for mugen stuff but for my family photos and my big music collection I got there. Now everything is safe and I'll keep it that way.

here is some more stuff I been doing. some of you know diepod did some ruffs on some animations for spiderwoman. I filled in some and here is the result. I asked him if I can use those and he said yes. I got this jump animation finished so here is a sprite from there along with another scratch work im doing for another win pose. hope you guy like it.

I'm glad to read that you recovered your hard disk. I also lost my external hard disk and a lot of family pictures. It's a pain.

Yeah, some females characters are drawn like that by capcom. I'm using rogue for both walks so sprites are like that.

hahaha, bingo but that's just torso. the arms and whole pose are from another character.. is incredible the things you can do with female bases. I think they are easy compared to males characters. they don't have so much muscle defintions so this helps a lot. if nobody guess the rest, ill post it later..

This!!!! Exactly why I simply love doing female sprites and seeing them........honestly I do.
PS...besides the other stuff like their bumbums. lol. Good work bro and I def enjoy checkin out how you and few others seriously sprite beautiful babes. Its always inspiring. I can only imagine some of spider woman poses you might got in mind cause I done seen a lot of some " intriguing " poses she does in the comics. =P~

thanos, im surprised that nobody have thought about revamping thanos sprites. they lack shading big time. this is in my to do list for future wips. but I have a lot on my plate as of now. a thanos with good shading and all fx with hi res would be something for sure.

I love how Doc Ock re positions his lower mechanical legs while turning. It looks very smooth for how many frames your using.

thanks guys, he is shaping up pretty good.. he has been a challenge so far but the more I work on him the more I get used to it and the more I learn to make sprites in this style and shape.. I have to go back to some of the sprites I made and make them look more chunky. the tentacles is what really taking me long to do. im trying to make them as good as possible but im not good at animating. im still learning and just want to get better.. :cool

hey jmax, that was done by xboy. its basically just like a sphere with that shine on top or bottom depending if its top tentacles or bottom. and u just overlay them on top of eachother so u repeat it to form the tentacle..

hey dev, when I start making a wip, I start thinking about its moves overall. I do have some ideas for some. im working on a special as of now. he will get a maximum doc ock hyper ala spiderman. was thinking about omegas hyper too. but I want to also make some more original stuff. im thinking about a hyper that he will make the tentacles turn like a drill and go at the enemy like that, maybe all 4 at once, of interchanging them or a combo of all this.. but im open to ideas and even mockups if anybody wants to help with them.. I know there are some of you out there with great ideas.. you guys know me, I like to make a lot of moves not just the same 3/3 that's the normal... he will get a chain hyper as well with some type of incarnation of a villain team like his sinister six but it should be different from sandman..

Great work so far. I love it.
The four-tentacles forward drill hyper is a great idea, but Doc would need to go down to the ground, maybe a two-tentacles drill is enough and you don't need to do the transition to the ground, or use the crouch anim as a first move (if you are planning to make him touch the ground with his feet).
I think it would be also cool an hyper thrown combo, throwing P2 many times to each side of the stage and smashing him on the ground.
It might be cool too, instead of grabbing and throwing P2, grabbing and throwing objects from the back of Octopus, like bricks, stones, motorcycles, ...
Of course, some Sinister-six attack would fit. If you don't want to repeat Sandman's one, maybe you can make two or three hypers, using just a couple of villains in each one instead of using them all at once.
Well, I'm sure you can think a lot of better ideas for him. Good luck and thanks for doing it.

hey helio, thanks for the ideas. yes I think he should get a grab and throw hyper for sure. I have a special that im working on where he throws different objects at you and I have the objects too, its broken pieces of concrete, metals and rocks. about coming to his feet for moves, its not a problem. and I think it makes him more normal to do that because he wont be on his tentacles all the times. he already has a hyper tha's on sandman sinister six hyper, im using that too and he comes to his feet for that. anyways, keep those ideas coming guys.. we can make a good dock with great ideas... :cool

For octobots, check Cyberbots' Jackal or Armored Warriors Insect. It's definitely these two games where you can find something you like. Also, they both are Capcom, so they'll blend nicely with your char.

for those of you that don't know, his teeth are color separated so they wont get mixed with the tentacles colors. same goes for the black on his suit, its blue so it wont get mixed with the black from tentacles too.

@ hyper, most of his sprites are just a mix of guiles torso with caps legs.. I been using other bases as well. but I make them match the main ones.. but yeah the 2 go together and form an unique character.. and its perfect for doc..

well, its been difficult to make his basics. I have tried many different bases. ill finish this one and later see if I can update it.. for now it will do. im trying to make him playable by completing the basics.. im slowly building his sff file too to be able to have an alpha some time.. so for now im just working and trying to complete his moves.. thank you for the ideas and all the help guys.. :)

I finished the other ones yesterday and they also have the tentacles and they look pretty good.. as of now im building his sff file. this sprites here don't have the tentacles yet but im working on them today. I have many tother things semi sprited and many that I have frankened too. from here on ill be working on his jumps. thank god that I got a set of them that xboy did so I just need some frames for straight up jumping and for back jumping.. so those and the crouching turn will be at the top of my list to do..
talking about other things, I have a special that im working on that is like that omega ground tentacle move. but for doc im using total different broken ground sprites and the movement is also different but works the same were the tentacles will hit ground and go into it and come out by the opponent hitting him if they catch him not blocking. also been thinking about how doc ock should work with his tentacles moves. im thinking he should be pretty fast with them but slow recovery to punish him for using them. this can be some type of balance to his gameplay.. so more news later.. :cool

for now, im just going to build him on the msh2 template loganir did. im not good at coding and there are many things that I will need to learn first, and that's time that im not willing to put in. I never cared much for coding, I always chose to sprites and create that way. I do know how to build the sff file and make palettes and things like that but that would just get me to been able to have character with all his basics. so it will act like a beta. but when it comes to hyper moves and specials, that's where I will have trouble.. I could ask around and try to make every hyper and special that way but it will probably turn into a buggy character, lol!!!! so for now im just planning to build my characters this way, im in no rush to release anything. its better I sprite all the characters and later on see what will happen. I keep the dream alive!!! :cool

I finished the jumping back frames with tentacles and all. working now on his straight up frames and coming down. for his coming down i just sprites 2 heads with hair movement to sell the move better..
more later on good old doc. i been inspired a lot this week and made great progress.

they will have variations for small movement so they will look like that shaking Capcom does on jumping up animations. and I will work on tentacles for them maybe tomorrow.. also the second frame here is what I was talking about giving the hair movement as well so I got the other head done too.. hope you guys like it..

I love that Capcom shaking that I've seen in every char you made. Wish I could do it, but I don't know how. Fantastic work with that jump.
its not that hard to do, but you need to first see how it works and understand it. i learned by looking at characters thru fighter factory. Capcom did this also on punches and kicks. for example the hard punches and kicks need to have more frames to make them look more heavy so they need delay compared to the others so Capcom some times just add extra frames to make the characters shake a little. if you look at that punch from doc I posted that I reworked, I did this.. anyways this is done by stretching the characters legs or arms or sometimes both and sometimes parts and its just one pixel here one pixel there. if u can check ff and open up a character with original sprites from Capcom and see the jumps, you can go back and forward and u can see where they strech them. then if you have photoshop u can create duplicates of the same frame and move the parts there till you get it to where u like it. the more u practice, the more u get better at it.. if you would had your character with good colors, I would do it for you bro... anyways ill keep spritting

now I have a good question for you guys, should docs tentacles go upwards while he is coming down from jumping? the reason I ask is because I know the tentacles have weight on them but then again not as much as maybe docs body. should it be like hair or just hanging down? I need to make those tentacles today to finish all his jumps.. thank you

Not really upward, but also not down. As you said, the tentacles are a bit heavy, so by the size of them they should weight at least 77 lbs each. It would look funny having them waving like a cape. So I'd say in between up and down.

This is a really tricky jump. You think to leave the lower tentacles attached to the ground to control the body in mid air, but then what would be the point of him jumping? Or you can detach the lower tentacles from the ground after they give the body a push upward. Or he can jump normal, but with at least 308 lbs on him and no super strenght... I don't know lol. Maybe the second option where the tentacles push him upward and then detach from the ground it's the best one. What do you plan to do?

Well, if you guys look at the sinister six hyper on sandman, he pushes up with tentacles. I'm using those so it will be like that. Xboy did not do jumping back or up so I made those. I have now all the jumping frames finished with tentacles. Even the coming down from normal and super jump and they have the shaking in them. And I made the tentacles half up, half down so they don't look like much weight or too lite. Sorry but I won't show them. If I post too much, chances are somebody might start their own doc ock. I'll try to get the crouch turn next. All I can say is that im happy with the progress and I understand more the tentacles movements and how to make them look more natural.

They shouldn't behave like a cape because they are part of the attacks... you need a smart starting point so the transition isn't lost. Have them behave like Venom during jump. you can just place the tentacles in a layer over Venom' sprites. Maybe that could do the trick.

Yup.
That could give verz a steady animation reference and a smart starting point for air attacks.

thanks and it depends which version you going for. but i would use maybe colossus legs as base with some hugo torso or zangief maybe a mix in for more moves.. but then the hard work is to make things look robotic...
edit.. post a pic of the version u want and i see what i can come up with.. but i its a hard to make character.

i have posted his stance and other sprites. at the unlimited we were working on him. anc and angel ecks did few cool stuff too. im taking my time on him, working when i get bored of doing other wips... its a way for me to keep motivated, lol!!!!!

I know how that feels, I have been swapping between three wips in recent months to keep me interested, motivated, and working on something.
The past few days I have been working on endings just to see something kinda different on my screen. :)

lol!!! nice, then you know how it gets. its hard to finish a character because some times during the process u get bored of you hit a snag with something thats not coming out right and it really drains you...lol...
i rotate between like 8 wips.. thats why i have not finished anything else in years.. from when i started electro i also started some other wips. but time is not kind to use mugen creators... so i keep going, like a good friend of mine told me, keep the dream alive ;)

what? you never saw the things i posted about flash? im going to have to look but i think i posted them here. did you ever see the things that anc did on flash? he posted a lot of his work too. like the old stuff.
flash is one of those characters that i really like, he is there on the top with spiderman as my favorites. but when i first started i did not had the talent to make a character like that. its like doc ock that is a hard character to really pull off. i wanted to get more experience so i have done things thru out the years. but anyways maybe one day i show some more stuff..

well im looking for characters to make for my game and i think he will go well with cap bucky. i finally found a screen pack that have the elements i like for the game, like fonts, power bars, etc... so im going to modify it to my game with cool logos and screen images..

been working on things like this for it.. and also going to be ordering a nice drawing tablet in the coming days, will learn how to use it to make face portraits ans other cool things.. good thing is i know how to draw but im rusty, have not drawn by hand for the last 10 years, lol!!!!!! before i used to draw different things like comic characters, graffitti, oil paintings and many more.. thru the years i lost most of my works from moving so much but oh well... new times ahead.
