Title: Care To Help A Starving Artist?
Post by: HyperVoiceActing on January 15, 2015, 12:27:05 AM
It's been months since I started taking art/voice commissions, and I literally only had one person ask me (Nestor). I tried to be paitent and play the waiting game, but I guess I have to come out and ask.

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE COMMISSION ME?

If you're interested, send me a PM with commish details.

HyperVoice, what are the chances of you going all in and trying to work for the Hollywood machine?

Yes I am, in fact it's even listed in my commission prices.
Would you like me to send you the price list?

If you're asking if I'll move to Hollywood, I doubt that'll happen. Unless I get a truckload of money

Oh XD. Definitely

I HAVE tried to get some more original gigs, but that hasn't been as fruitful as fan projects.

dont give up, this is coming from experience. Its a numbers game. You can contact 100 people, 20 will show an interest, 1-3 may book you for work. Your Good hyper but you have to sale yourself and NEVER give up.

Make a website. with a simple name. like gerg.com, or MikLary.com
Stay active
Go to events, seminars, etc.
make business cards.
NEVER under-sale your self. this is different then lowering prices to get work start. Its knowing your value and committing to yourself that is what you are worth and stand strong with confidence. The second your confidence weakens people will take advantage of it. remember everyone is looking for a deal, and have a angle. Stand firm and if they walk oh well  on to the next one. Leave a good impression on people, even if they move on from you they could potentially come back or they may refer some one else to you.

here is a tip for you voice acting. You have many games under your belt. Its good but you can always be better, so here what you do; contact youtubers. I know everyone see many youtubers looking for V actors, gfx artist, sound engineers, etc. contact some of the indie game developers. They need VAs. Go to some of the CGI websites and speak with people doing 3d work. They would love to work with a great VC actor such as you. The great thing about 3D vs 2D is the 3D will make your voice VA ability shine more if they are a good animator. Imagine someone lip syncing to your voice, its enhance your performance just as it will theirs.

There is always work, its just about finding it.

sorry for gambling, hope so of it was useful.

Okay, apparently I need to elaborate on this since a lot of people are actually making this assumption...

I AM NOT TAKING SPRITE COMMISSIONS. ONLY ART AND VOICE WORK.

I've made an adjustment to my Collab Commissions. First off they're now 20USD, but that's now per character. Also I've given people two choices as to which colorist they want me to work with.

Sorry for the bump, but I was hoping to get more people interested in commissions since my funds are a bit bare at the moment.

I HAVE been working on a few original projects (one of them being Trexrell's Celestial Tear RPG)

Hey brother there's a lot of sites out there where you can showcase your talent, don't be afraid to put your pic up as well, have your stuff ready to be played in samples so you can re-direct inquiries right away, YouTube has a ton of channels that use voice overs, maybe search and start working with a mob in your city? Do a voice reel/video too! never give up and stay true to the dream.
 ::salute::

Just a reminder, I'm one of those people too

Well I can't lie, I'm a bit interested in this since I'm close to finish Tombstone's sprites. I have one question: Does it matter the number of the quotes I'll give you? 'Cause I have 20+ I think. The price is the same no matter how many quotes I have?

Dev, HVA makes some very cool voice acting. If you need someone to voice your characters, he is your man.

It's all the same, unless you need me to redo any lines. Then I'll charge extra (but not by much)
