Hey guys, been bit by the MUGEN bug again! :)
Been going through my PC folders lately, cleaning out stuff I don't use or want anymore.
I noticed I had a few unfinished WIPs that are dear to my heart and thought I'd try to finish them.
Won't reveal them just yet till they have more done to them. They are two X-men WIP's.
I am in need of help though.
Can anyone tell me where I might find the background effects from this MVC Chun Li air hyper?
I've got no clue where I could find this...

Note: I'll keep this topic separate from my Aquaman WIP topic. That is also on the list of WIPs I'd like to finish one day. This will be about my X-men WIPs and any stages I have left to finally finish. I still want to finish the Days of Future Past stage I started. Want to add a little more in the background.

Basically you want the hyper burst and kanji for her Shichisei Senkuu Kyaku, right?
Other than a direct sprite rip or maybe from an existing version, I don't know where you'd find it. I was having no luck either.

Correct, I want that flashing BG and light bursts. Not so much the kanji though.
I once was able to find it in a MUGEN version of Chun Li, but I don't think I can find it anymore. :(

One's a remix of a familiar character. That one I will probably do a video and then I'll let the Project X team have some time testing and giving feedback.

Programming question: If player 1 knocks player 2 into the air, is it possible to keep the camera focused on player 1 and not follow player 2?

Yeah you can use screenbound.

You can just use the screenbound controller, here is what you need

plus, you can manipulate the camera, if you do a little trick: make an invisible helper and use a screenbound on it.
If you move the helper, the camera will follow it

Quick question, anyone know where I can find a sprite of a stool, like a bar stool to sit on? I want one for one of my characters to sit on.

Xfields started this WIP with Eclipse. He later dropped the WIP being so busy and left it with the Project X team. I spent a lot of time converting the sprites and adding the newer details to her.
She'll have the new belt sash, smart palette for her fingers to have full glove and the scar on her eye for Crimson Dawn mode, oh and a Crimson Dawn mode. There's some new hypers, changed some old ones, added/removed some specials, new intros, new voice (from X-men Legends I think?), and more that I can't remember right now... Only needs one more hyper I have planned, then will need some thorough testing.

The Crimson Dawn mode sounds interesting, more powers to explore.
Also cool fligth anim... even if I didn't get used yet with Betsy levitating/flight new powers after Second coming.

Thanks for the feedback guys. A lot of credit goes to Xfields. He got maybe half of all her sprites converted to smart palette. The newer stuff is mostly from him and the SC version as well.
I split her specials down the middle. Some are only in Crimson Dawn and Normal Mode. Tried to incorporate the different powers she had with Crimson Dawn.
The other WIP I'm really looking forward to sharing. There's a lot more to finish for that character. I will try to have a preview video ready for them around Christmas.

cool stuff twin.. the only nitpick i got its in that idle animation, her left leg looks like its stuck to a wall, try to make a small movement so that it flows better like the rest of her body.. but it really looks good otherwise.. you got some cool sprites...

Thanks. Good catch there. I can't remember if I or Xfields animated that one. May have been me. It's hard animating a single sprite to look like it's moving. You have to make every part of their body move to make it look right. Thankfully it's one of the more fun things to do when spriting. :)
Thought I'd share this for fun. This is a "helper" from a "team hyper" for my other WIP. Been meaning to make an edit of 70's/80's Storm, but then had an idea for a team hyper and thought this would be a good chance to "make" myself do some edits of her.

@nx-men - It includes a few all-female team up.
@Uche-of-IMT - With the Crimson Dawn powers she can, plus she has telekenesis. Don't worry the flight mode is very brief and it takes away from her power bar, to not make her too over powered of a character.

This statement makes me laugh. Its me minds me about the debates i had on megaman power copying and the one on the White ranger teleporting and his other skills. I ::salute:: you Twin. Being close to Christmas, I thought I'd share what else I've been cooking up.
So, as most of you can guess my other WIP I am trying to finish is....
DAZZLER!!!!

As many know, jr6/ejmann started this and I was just the coder. I haven't heard from ejmann in a good while. He gave permission to finish her if I wanted. So I've been trying to get all the basics finished so she can be playable. Once the basics are finished, the rest kind of falls into place and is more fun to work on.
I'm aiming for 6 button layout, seeing that's how this WIP started. Kicks are the main thing missing.
She has a costume change intro. Here's what I have so far:

Been looking over Dazzler lately. I've been coding some combos for her. It's cool to finally see her function better and more fun combos.
Here's an opportunity for you to contribute.
I'm at a point where I need to really think about Dazzler's move list and how the specials should work.
I don't want her to be overpowering and I don't want her to be a cheap, boring character.
These two are from the Dazzler beta we had made
- Shoots projectile from her finger (qcf + attack)
- Small explosion from her hands, hits at close distance (qcb + attack)
Here are some ideas for more specials:
- Dazzler creates a shield like structure in front of her that hurts opponent or stops projectiles and attacks. Goes away after first hit.
- She may need an anti-air move, but not sure what would be the best kind of movement. Preferably not a shoryuken style punch. :P
- Maybe have her do a blanka electrocute style move, but with sparkles and light.
Also, what kind of throw(s) do you think Dazzler could do? I'm at a loss for that.
Feel free to share any move ideas, whether it be throws, specials or hypers. I'd love to hear what some of you can think up.

The Blanca idea sounds perfect for her. How about for her anti air something like Psylocke's psyblade jump, but instead make her look like she dancing with damaging lights surrounding her. Her throw maybe something like Karin from SF IDK....

As example I was thinking in something like McCready's Guido kinectic bar.

Thanks for the feedback thus far guys. To be honest I'm not totally sure what gameplay style I want for her yet. At the moment I've been trying to make what she has work more for MvC style gameplay.
I currently have it coded where per each power level she has more sparkles appear around her body. I'm thinking of adding a glow effect for level 3. It's hard to think of a sound level bar for a fighting game, but I get what you mean.
Here's what I'm thinking of trying for her specials for now. If these don't work, I'll try something else.
- Lightblast from hands, close up. Great for adding into combos
- Projectile from finger. Currently only one projectile, but I'm thinking of making her use both hands and shoot smaller lasers, have it function similar to how MvC3 Dante shoots his guns. Still have her original pose for low attack maybe. Or if you do the command and then pound on the attack button, she'll use both hands after that initial attack.
Could turn that move into a hyper as well. Have the laser projectiles shoot faster as well as high and low. We'll see. I'm not a big fan of hypers just being a bigger, faster version of their specials.
- Shoots shield out in front of her as she hops back. That could technically be an anti-air correct? Or are different requirements for an anti-air? Main point is to punish the opponent for their air attack.
- Creates sparkles around her, similar to Dr. Doom's molecular shield or Magneto's force field. The command could either be blanka style (button smashing) or something basic like anti+attack

definitely needs a dizzy move
uppercut can be a mix between psylocke and Athena from king of fighters psycho sword
like the trap idea, maybe a nostalgic trip is have her throw the light on the ground like she did in the arcade but instead of exploding instantly it can be triggered by stepping on it. but I think I like floating light more...why not all three depending on the attack button strength ///high middle ground trap
like the built up sound idea of loganir..but what builds up the sound...punches to the face lol

throw out boom box or have sing to charge it up
if you have her sing it can be like guitar hero or dance revolution
where if you push buttons in right sequence the better her song sounds and more light she can produce and use to damage with...mess up the song and the attack is weaker...totally bugger the song and the crowd goes boo...maybe that's more of a hyper, if so put a silloetthe of a crowd on the bottom of the screen to cheer or boo

I'm liking that idea about the singing hyper. That's just about what I had in mind.
I was tossed between that idea (pressing commands in right order) or have a bunch of commands like Dance Revolution fly up/down the screen and those be projectiles that hit the opponent. Reason I thought of that was because, if I do the press in right order type, I'm not sure how that would ultimately lead to an attack. Would she sing then follow up with a projectile or something? That's my dilemma. :-/

I thought it would start with a small burst and then if you did the whole thing right it would end in a full pyro technic show. So basically she mj pepsi commercial's player 2
kinda like psylocke's butterfly hyper except with blast burst streams of light lasers. think of the best concert you have been to and imagine that if you like me thought man it looks really dangerous with all that going on stage what would happen if someone got caught in that display. if you seen kevin hart's latest stand up he made it shoot fire ever time he asked for it out of stage.
so you can use a combination of all that like falling stage equipment flames shoot out of the stage. some guitarist playing solos laser shows the works in combination with her mutant powers.
you can transistion this with a curtain close and open or fade to black

Her sparkles dependent of power meter it's a nice add.
Actually I didn't mean literally a sound meter, there's no way to do this on mugen of course.
For the game that's why I mentioned sound like "sounds"... in other words, yes the impacts creating sounds in the fight. I just tought that would be cool some references of that unique Dazzler characteristic being powered by sounds.
But a sonic meter (or sound level) don't need to be something like that or dependent of this...
You could also make it different and create a move, or maybe her taunt where she could actually sing part of a song or a very high note to create these stocks.
This is something that works as example on Guilty Gear's Jam Kuradoberi, there's a command (down, down) for stocking icon cards that increases her powers and combos. I dunno maybe a musical note icon for Dazzler would work instead of a meter too.

@Warecus - Hmm, that may work. I'll play around with what I have and see what works best gameplay wise. I've actually never heard of Jem before. I looked up some of their music. I'm thinking that might be a good fit for the singing hyper. I did want Dazzler's voice to actual be heard when singing.
@Loganir - Thanks. I may have her sing for the taunt. She doesn't have a taunt yet. It could raise her power bar or "sound" bar if I go that route.

Small Update:
So for some random odd reason my Photoshop decides to stop working!? :(
It says I need to reactivate it again, but I've tried doing so via internet and phone. Both fail. :'(
So I'm going to have to learn to do all I need to do through GIMP till I get Photoshop resolved.
So I'm currently working on Dazzler's disco singing hyper and am also trying to finish up her basic attacks.
At this time I'm aiming for a MvC3 style basics (with four buttons). I know that's not the popular choice, but it's a good challenge for me to code and plan the character's gameplay.
I'm trying something different with her and Aquaman. That's not to say she won't be a 6 button character in the future. But for now I'm going for MvC3 style. Just so ya know... :P
Speaking of MvC3, are there any MUGEN characters coded to function like MvC3? I'm not aware of any at this time.
Anyway, when I get the time I'll eventually post some videos of my WIP's, they'll be like around 10 to 30 seconds, just to show off some stuff. Nothing too overly detailed.

Twin, there is a tool which removes the activation and reactivate it again. Or you can try some unistaller program (like the one in Active Care) which scans for registry entries of Photoshop. Until you remove it, you will still have problems with PS.

Haggar is 6 button layout, not 4. True MvC3 would be 4 button, focusing more so on just low, medium, strong attacks, rather than punches or kicks. Plus the fourth button should serve as a launcher when standing.

Damn, O, that sprites for Psylocke, should've been updated for AvX, but oh well, if someone decides to use those sprites, that would be amazing. Again, someone needs to give credit the author Divine Wolf. I like that sprite alot, O. :D

Ok, so lately I've been very busy with life and haven't had time for MUGEN. Lately the MUGEN bug has been biting me and I have wanted to do some work on my characters. Here's what I've been thinking.
Nightcrawler - I plan to change his Excalibur hyper with a hyper where a bunch of little bamfs attack. May experiment with him and see how he'd play with the four button MvC3 style.
Psylocke 2.0, I am going to pass off to Project X team for any future X-men projects. I may release a beta of her as she is now. She's nearly finished!
Dazzler I want to finish one of these days. I still have a lot to do. On back burner till I have more time and creativity for her.
Aquaman, I would like to finish, cause I really like the design I came up with, however, I don't have the time to do all the spriting that is needed. Originally I thought of making him into more of a mini-boss character with a specific stage assigned to him for the full effect. Thus, less spriting and challenge me to think outside the box in terms of gameplay. I may go that route. Mostly his get hits and walk/jump animations are done. Still need to think about how the attacks should work best. Also need to find a good base for a Trident or character who uses a staff, with similar build as my Aquaman.
At the end of the day, this has to be fun for ME when creating/spriting these characters. Time is limited so I have to plan on what I want to do. Also wanted to share with you all, so you guys know these WIP's aren't dead. :P

@Lord M - lol as most others probably saw as well.
@ratmon - Don't feel too bad. I'd really love to finish her one day. She was my first WIP to start with. I've become more comfortable spriting female sprites, they just seem easier to make. I do refrain from saying anything like, "I'm retiring" or "I'm dropping all my WIPS!", because you never know what will happen down the road.
Life has been pretty good lately, and I wish to enjoy it more away from my computer.
Ultimately I'd like to finish my WIP's and just do some edits of whatever once in a while. I like doing edits more so than building characters, because they are so time consuming. An edit only takes a few evenings to finish.

The MUGEN bug has bit me recently! I'm working on 3 X-men stages and a character that's near finished that I hope to release around Christmas and something else special that I also hope to have almost finished around Christmas, God willing I can find enough time to work on all this.
Here's where you can help! I have questions maybe some can answer:
1) I'm looking for a sprite/animation of someone with their hands on their hips, face looking down and shaking their head like they're disappointed. Anyone know where I can find an animation like that? This is for a stage background character and is female.
2) Is it possible to change the size of a sprite in a stage? Last I recall MUGEN stages don't let you change the width/height.
I wish I had more to give, I'd make it like a 12 days of Christmas party thing, but I only have so much time and stuff finished. :P

ALEXZIQ's Joker has a intro with a curtain. I think it's open source, 'cause I don't think he made it, but it's better to ask first if you decide to use it.

Thank you guys for the terrific responses. They have been very helpful. That curtain in the Joker character seems ridiculously familiar. I know I've seen it else where but don't know where from.

One stage finished, three more to go! Yep, there's a FOURTH stage. :) I had another idea for a stage and couldn't let it go. I plan to finish all these stages before Christmas. Hoping to finish Psylocke 2.0 as well or at least I can pass her off to the Project X team to perfect the coding. I want her to be tested, balanced out and have appropriate AI for her release. It was a lot of work to update all her sprites. I want the gameplay to be good too.
Also have a cool concept for something, which I'll share near end of the year. Maybe I'll have started spriting/coding it by then to show off some of it.
After the new year, if the all of these stages and Psylocke finish well, Dazzler is coming off the back burner! :D
She's still missing all 9 kicks. That's my first priority with her, then the rest should fall into place. I think I've got her specials and hypers planned out and they shouldn't take too long to sprite.

Yep, all X-men stages.
I made a stage DC vs Marvel related, "The Sky is Bleeding". I also made a stage for my Nightcrawler long ago and it was released. Not sure if it's still around actually. I also did a stage for Dazzler, but that's the old old version and that's actually the one I just finished. :)
I plan to release all four stages around Christmas. ;)

Thanks, Long.Pod, however I've already finished the female background characters. Hellion was the last BG char I needed to sprite. I found a decent base for him yesterday. :)
Programming question about projectiles, is there a way to make a projectile NOT disappear and just move past player 2 after it hits them?

Ok, I was able to figure out how to make a projectile stay after hitting opponent.
I have a NEW question now. I'm having a hitspark helper appear every time a single projectile hits the opponent. I've been trying to use:
trigger1 = projhit(3001) = 1
as well as
trigger1 = projhittime(3001) = 1
but the helper only appears for the first hit. The projectile hits 5 times with a hit pause of around 10 or 12.
Any thoughts?

Alex is RL busy, so you won't get in contact with him very soon. I think it's okay if you just credit him, because he's not the type that won't give permission to use his sprites.

OK, here's the preview. I plan to do some final tweaking and touch ups (like redoing that sprite of Hellion). I was going to do a fourth stage, but decided not to go through with that idea. Wasn't good enough of an idea to make a whole stage. These three were stages I started long ago and wanted to finish them. 2015 is the year I plan to finish some old project I started since around 2007-09.

Sadly, I got in a pretty nasty car wreck today, I'm ok. I got a bloody nose, but that's all. Car is probably totaled though. :( But this may delay the releases. I know those don't matter in comparison to my real life situation, but I felt like sharing where I'm at. I have this and next week off for the holidays, so we'll see what I can do. I really wanted to have these finished by the holidays.
