Hello guys. As I've explained at my FB page (
) I want to try to bring some joy to the crowd in these difficult times.

After thinking about it, the only thing that crossed my mind and that would have any impact would be ... update my Avengers game.


It's time to choose who will appear in the next Avengers United Battle Force update!

As I explained before, I will do a minor update, where I will put 2 new characters, with other news.

I am trying to update the game asap - MAYBE I will do it this weekend, but its small chance.

I've been working on a new scenario for the Avengers game, where we will have a "dynamic" light effect.

Thanks! But I am not satisfied with the stage overall. For sure it still needs details, there is a hole on it, but the stage is too much straight foward. I still need to think about how I can make it more unique.

Finally, I had time to implement a detail that I think gives more dynamism to the scenario: There is a monitor near the door that shows an animation of noise.



Each boss that arrives causes the monitor to show a small animation of that boss, which returns to the noise animation when the boss is killed :)



And the bg layer now has parallax.

How about some platforming? Or verticality, if that is even possible in bor? You could also spice things up with "types" of enemies for instance. Some only take damage with rays or beams, some just by punching or air attacks… situations or enemies could "evolve" and the player has to adapt.. Just a couple of ideas right out of the box. I´m sure you´re way ahead but still!

Indeed it is. For stages, OpenBOR gives you way more freedom.

A small preview of one of the scenarios in the Sentinels chapter, which is still a work in progress.

I'm working on this special update for the pandemic, but I still don't have a date yet - just that I want to release it as soon as possible.

As I explained in a previous post, we already have the winners of the poll to choose the 2 new characters to be added that, exceptionally in this update, will be available from the beginning of the game - in the next update, they will need to be unlocked in their respective chapters.

Sorry for the lack of videos, my life has been pretty chaotic lately. And I would like to thank the support of everyone who helps me to continue - it's getting harder and harder, but I'm still here thanks to you.

Ahab is one of the new bosses from the Sentinels chapter of the Avengers United Battle Force game and you will have to fight him with another boss at the same time.

 
I am working on some commissions first (and some I can't talk about in public) so this is why things are a little silent here, but I am working on this here and there and there are already some nice content that I hope to show soon.
I've sent the game to few beta testers and the feedback is being VERY positive, which mades me happy :)

So even if the update is taking longer than I would like, the result is very pleasing, with new mechanics, new challenges, etc.

New stage & bosses - Ahab & Mega Sentinel.
Due to the high volume of work in real life and some health problems, I had to slow down the work on this game. But I finally got the time to make a video.

This is one of the new phases of the sentinel chapter which, despite being short, is full of challenges and has high difficulty, depending on who is playing.

Some things are still unfinished (animations are missing in the scene, you need to regulate the difficulty of the smaller sentinels, etc.) but I like the result.

Ahab & Mega Sentinel function as 2 bosses on the level and both need to be defeated to finish it. Mega Sentinel has different attacks depending on how much health it has and shows damage to the face if it has little health.

I hope you like the result, because I liked it a lot :)

@ExeLord you mean vertical levels where you can jump and go up, like on the original game? I have some ideas for some special stages, where you will be forced to use a specific character. But there are stages with vertical movements already, like ramps and an elevator.

And its good to see you around again :)

Now the Mega Sentinel scales up / down and gets darker while dodging with coding. This helps to create a sense of depth :)


OpenBOR drawmethod capabilities are amazing :)

Something I always wanted to change - Beast's robot helper. The previous one was too cartoon for me and I always thought Beast could have a little boost. So now has a new big robot, who likes throw people away. It is slower than the previous one but also stronger too.


I should add a new option too: to make the robot to explod, causing some good damage (less than an hyper move) if you execute the Hyper move command again while the robot is in action. It won't cost any MP to do it.

Talking about hyper move command, I should make it easier - DOWN, UP, SPECIAL, instead of DOWN, UP, DOWN, SPECIAL.
Or...should I make a single button for that?

Single button might lead to a lot of unintentional self destructs. I think down up special might be good for it. I know I've had times where I've messed up the input without thinking.

Time for some short updates:


- Thor (shown in Ragnarok mode) now can run and run attack like all other chars. His old dodge will still be available

- The sky has a new parallax effect (Thanks Damon Caskey for the trick). Also, the sky and the buildings are now separated layers.

- Almost all basic enemies are now bound to the screen so they wont get off, which makes the game quicker.

- Now the Hyper Move/Avengers power is done by pressing Down, Up , Special. Its way easier to perform :)
