What do you get when Wolverine bonds with a symbiote ? A little madness .

Well he's finally out . All I have to say is Enjoy . I worked pretty hard spriting this character . All of you really kept me going with your comments & feedback in my WIP thread . Thanx

There's still some things that couldn't be implemented into him due to time restraints . So he will be updated later

As you can see who my secret coder is now . Here's a some words from Sabaki

Wolvenom is designed as a secret character that players will come across during
the course of playing the EOH game. The original direction was to make him more of a boss-type
character, meaning that he will have greater advantages over other characters such as speed,
being very combo-oriented, and having higher priority. Since there is no real source material
on Marvel's side on how Wolverine would truly use the benefits of the symbiote suit, we decided
to retain  most of Wolverine's original attacks from Capcom's fighting games such as MvC2, yet
altered/enhanced them to show change in strength, speed, savageness, etc. We also incorporated
new moves, some of which show the use of the symbiote suit in unique ways.

The stage was designed by Boris . He was kind enough to make this for me & let me add the symbiotes . They will be animated later on , but once again due to time restraints . I just figured you all would enjoy having this stuff now .

OH...MY...GOD!!! You were kind of throwing me off when you were asking if people still wanted him, but I knew you were joking. This awesome. Thanks for all your guy's long hours and hard work just so we could all enjoy this awesome character. It's creators like you guys that help make mugen as great as it is. Thanks again, I'm gonna try him out now, even though I already know he's a frickin animal. Now, let Spawn enter the fight. Mwah, hah, hah...

 I forgot to say thanks for the stage. That is an awesome stage to say the least. I like all the destruction going on, way to go Boris. Also, if you sprited that Anti-Venom DT, holy crap. I've seen the picture you based that sprite off of, and it looks exactly how it does in the picture. You got skills. Can't wait to see what they look like animated. Thanks again.

Seriously, this is the best twist on these two characters that I've seen EVER. The only thing that could possibly make this better is if someone made Carnage in MvC style...has that been done?

If you are referring to the dcvm version at scruffy dragon, then technically yes, one has been made. other than that, carnage and toxin are unexplored territory in mugen.

This is my 2nd most anticipated next to The Punisher.

To be honest, I didn't play EoH because I don't really care for moleboxes and my pc has been crapping out on me for the past 2 months, so I'm in limbo right now where I have to get a job so I can afford a new pc.

DT, dude i have said it before, and i will say it again, i am proud to be your friend and i knew someday that you would go down in mugen history, man YOUR CHARACTER DESERVES A OMG HE IS SO AWESOME!!! CUS HE IS!!!!   :o  :o  :o   :D

Man i dont even kno where to start, Man he plays so awesome its like this character is defenitely his own character and the effects and the voice overs and the moves r so dang awesome, till i can't explain everything but i will try....

The combos and agility,speed, the attitude of the character, the ideas for the new moves and other things man, you and Sabaki rock like forever for this, like seriously....

 i feel like i am playing with another symbiote seriously...

DT, man, bottom line is that this character is one of the BEST OF THIS YEAR

This character is most certainly going in my roster

The R@CE givs DT's Wolvenom, a 20 out of 20, why 20 out of 20 and not 10 out of 10 you may ask, well......

Cus DT rocks already by himself cus he's DT   :w00t:   ;*)) , and secondly well cus the character rocks!!!  :D

I think the solid sounds really gave life to the character. Normally people use really dull sounds, but this character is amazing in more ways then one.

Carnage could seriously use an MvC-style art style though.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing Scream (yellow female symbiote) in there myself. ;) She can attack with her hair and is totally nuts. I can't find any pictures of her alter ego Donna Diego, though (aside the one that I found on Deviantart).

Sabaki wanted to be the big surprise coder for release .  :o

First of all thanx to all of you for the kind comments .

I'll try to answer some of the statements , but there's so many . I went to sleep & didn't expect this much response already .

The voices .........

Those were made by Elmatador who is a member here at Infinity . He did a great job . Then Sabaki added more to him when he started coding .

Most of Symbiotes in the stage were sprited by Toxin & Berkay . Like I said due to time restrictions they will be animated at a later date & the stage will be rereleased

Damn, this is acually a really good char! He acually feels like he was ripped from mvc, but my only gripe is that he couldve had more symbiote moves, like a web throw type with the symbiote, he yanks the opponent to him, and runs his claws through them for example. ;*))

Updated 1st post with both a new link and a patch file. Minor update, mainly with the readme and one of the intros. I suggest only downloading the patch file if you already downloaded earlier this morning.

Excursion's gonna upload this onto the server, so the link will be changing again shortly.

Yes, the rant at the WIP thread was just a ploy, a fun one too just to throw some spice into the mix. As for future updates, as DT mentioned some new things will be added, maybe some changes.

Combos:

LP MP + Up & MP + HK + Jump + LP MP LK MK + "Sudden Gust" + "Tornado Claw" + "Venom Flood" = you seriously made my day.   :O*D

(near the corner) LK MK HK + Jump + "Instinctive Flip" + K (bounce against the wall) + "Tornado Claw" + "Venom Flood"

LP MP HP + "Drill Claw" + "Arachnid Massacre"

LK MK + Up & MP + HK + Jump + LP MP LK MK + "Dive Kick" + "Twisted Weapon X"

i can go all day with this...but for now here are the ones that i thought were pretty showy

(note ive only played with him for about 30 mins theres probably loads more)  :O*D

Special Moves:

i really liked how you changed his "Deadly Backlash" attack into a Counter..i liked the move in the EOH beta but i felt like it was kinda out of place there were only so many different ways to go about comboing with that move..so a Counter is really more suiting it..good job on that.

"Cannon Ball" is by far my favorite move, having the symbiote lung wolverine forward is original compared to Venom (MVC1 & MVC2) he never did anything like that so thats a real plus for originality, its not just some "Venom Fang" redone, its its own entity.

i like how theres 3 Wolverine special moves and then theres 3 new symbiote moves..balancing out both sides of the character. along with the "Instinictive Flip" among new additions to Wolverine. "Critical Lunge" is also very Wolverine like but with that new feel to it.
very different moves indeed, for all those who doubted it, its NOT A PAINTED WOLVERINE.  :O*D


Hypers:

"Arachnid Massacre" is SICK.

"Twisted Weapon X", is also a really good improvising on the part of you guys, rendering and combining his original wolverine moves into this.

"Venom Flood", im glad he has a Air Hyper, nicely done, it wouldnt be a MVC style character without one.

"Berserker Barrage" is definite Wolverine throwback that this character automatically should have had, among other Wolverine styled moves (Drill Claw, Tornado Claw etc..)

"Infectious Darkness" is alittle weird to me..i really dont see how it goes along with either side of this character...

"During Infectious Darkness, Wolvenom is completely invisible, but will become visible in the form of a sillohuette any time he attacks or takes a hit. On top of that, he gains random invincibility only when he is not attacking in small time intervals (i.e. running, jumping, standing, etc), so it is possible that the opponent's attacks will miss him occasionally."

but if you put it like that is a good addition  :O*D

Misc:

"Knockdown & Stab" and his "Stab & Kick" air throw = good throw moves

"Drill & Slash" = is ok to me, not my favorite maybe having the symbiote pick him up, throwing him away from wolverine (would be sick)

his "Advanced Moves" are all on point...that Wall Cling was a must and it comes in handy..i use strider and spiderman in MVC..so i know how to use this  ;D

also the "Dive Kick" and the "Claw Slide" are really cool moves.

Stage:

the stage is great it get the feel your guys are going for...but in my view..the magneto, the hulk, nick fury, akuma and jugganuart symbiotes look a bit..corny lol..maybe stretching out the other sprites along the stage or adding a few others (people who actually had symbiotes)..symbiote spiderman, symbiote silver surfer, maybe a lasher and toxin sprite, perhaps symbiote onslaught, since he's the boss of EOH..i dont know these are just thoughts, the stage is sick otherwise  :O*D

Commands:

as for the coding..sabaki, these commands bring back that arcade feel to it.. now i see why everyone at IMT talks so highly of you..you defiently deserve those comments, and i myself now will say it  :O*D

only thing i can think of is adding some more symbiote moves and GIVE HIM A AIR DASH (FWD & BWD) AND A DOUBLE JUMP.

Wolvenom was one of the characters ive really be interested in testing out..he works very well in my book, ive yet to find a bug. (but to be honest i havent started looking for them). if i find anything i will post it.

great stuff.. DT..sprites are good, moves are good, hypers are good. he got a good taunt, cool intros, a really nice hyper portrait...i also like how he is trying to escape out of my mugen, but he isnt going anywhere.

waiting for the character was...a worthwhile wait.. thanks for this great addition to my mugen.

i can only imagine the madness when he is updated. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

OKAY, here is my feedback i won t write what i like because there isn t enough words  :D , or time  ~:> :
so what i don t like:  his the "shield" when he protects his body because it s not animated, and the palettes.
I would like one with blue and yellow mixed like in mighty avengers 11.
yes, that s just some little things but that s because he is perfect.  ;D

I did animate the sheild to where is covers him . But yeah , I forgot all about the instances where he is just standing blocking for some period . The Symbiote should have been squirming . Good point .

Dr Doom got this crazy idea to drop a symbiote bomb to take over the world . All of the Marvel Universe was infected with symbiotes , besides the Avengers .

You'll see a lot of characters as symbiotes in this short saga  . My Wolvenom was loosely based on this . You will see more of this in the updated version . Due to time restraints we couldn't implement all the  stuff I sprited .

Ok, after playing around with it for about 20 minutes, I can tell this char is great! Specials are fairly easy to do, AI isn't too strong, not just a repaint of Wolverine. I did kinda miss the thing where he puts his opponent on the ground and hits him in the face really fast. Wolvenom does that twice and slowly... Wolvenom is already in EOH, just an older version.
Unfortuanly there is no way you can add or remove characters in EOH, its moleboxed.
You can add Wolvenom to your regular, customizeable mugen though.

I must say, I'm impressed with this character.  Some pointers:

-There are two stray pixels in his standing animation.
-His blackout super is an awesome concept, but if he uses a super during it, you won't be able to see his hyper BG or portrait.
-He has no 'Hyper Combo Finish'.
-Why are you mixing and matching CvS2 and MvC2 sparks?  In his D/F/KK super, he uses MvC2's hitsparks, when he should be using CvS2's purple hitsparks.
-His slash sparks look pretty dull.  Again, use the CvS2 slash sparks without editing the colors, it will look much better.
-His superjump pillar is too small.

-DT will be fixing that.
-Originally the hyper bg and portrait could be seen, but everyone who tested him though that it ruined the hyper. I agree to that, thus no hyper bg or portrait can't be seen. Plus it adds to the "blind feel"  :)
-Probably towards the completion of the project will Hyper Combo Finish bg be added.
-Just mixed them in for fun, really. I may switch them back to CvS2 sparks
-The dullness is because some gray color was added to it, to match Wolvenom's dark appearance. If I can make it more vibrant I will.
-I'll check the size for the superjump pillar and try to access a better size for it.

No prob. Actually, you didn't sound mean at all. The whole MvC2/CvS2 sparks issue is something that I've heard for awhile and originally we were supposed to use both. I guess we haven't quite finalized how we're gonna deal with the hitspark issue yet.

in EoH is really hard do lvl 3 hypers, because only have one round or when u get it enemy almost dead, so to project maybe wonvenom can change the lvl of hypers and reduce damage...

The first time I saw the demo vid with wolvenom beating the tar out of airman, I instantly knew that every time I heard killswitch from now on wolvenom would be the first thing I see.

No kidding either, KE seems like a staple for wolvenom. I say stick with it or come up with something so awesome words can't describe..........

Well, the only feedback I can give at this point is take out the Banshee/ whatever that idiot in yellow's name is winpose.

It doesn't fit as a win pose, especially not if it happens in the first round.  The only use I can think of for it is a time over lose pose in the final round only.  It also ends up misaligned, and the screaming guy's sprites are really stiff to boot.

And just something f**ked up, but funny, using Wolvenom's drill throw on certain male chatracers will likely castrate them.

The Banshee win pose makes a lot of sense . Symbiotes hate loud noise & sonic waves . So it's only fitting that a fellow X-men would come out & " save " his team mate from his fate . When you fight against Banshee , Syren comes out instead .

It would make sense for it to only happen in the second round . Most my win poses are about saving the world & removing the symbiote from Wolvenom . As a matter of fact most of my win poses are kind of tragic . You should see what happens to Medieval Spawn when he wins  8=|

Anyway , back to Wolvenom win poses . If you read the New Avengers issues where this was created . All the heroes became symbiotes because Dr Doom drooped a symbiote bomb . Those that didn't had to stop this threat . So that's basically why in his win poses other heroes will come out & destroy the symbiote

The Banshee win pose makes a lot of sense . Symbiotes hate loud noise & sonic waves . So it's only fitting that a fellow X-men would come out & " save " his team mate from his fate . When you fight against Banshee , Syren comes out instead .

If Banshee could so easily remove the symbiote in a winpose why would wolvenom even win against him to begein with to even allow Siryn to come out?  :-??

Would it be possible to code Wolvenom to be weak against sonic attacks? Also Fire.  >:D

The symbiotes have taken over , so fire really isn't a weakness anymore . With all the destruction & fire everywhere , they adapted to it . Hence why the stage has fire everywhere , to show it doesn't " bug " them .

Did you fight Banshee with Wolvenom yet ? never get hit with a Sonic wave in battle . it kills the symbiote & you just play as regular Wolverine lol

Just joking . Although that would be kind of cool .

The effect in the win pose will be changed later on . It's supposed to be a bigger stronger Sonic blast . This way it would look like something that would destroy the symbiote .

Yeah it's all newer . That's what i got out of it , seeing that there is a giant symbiote destroying cities , everything is in blazes & none of them seem to be bothered by it .  Tell you the truth that story arc in the new avengers just seems like some kind of elseworlds deal . But it was pretty cool & it gave me some ideas on Wolvenom

Yeah , I was making him crawl all over the walls . I just couldn't make the sprites look right . Acey was going to help , but got caughtup in all the projects . So that was understandable .

You could do something completly differnt with the wall crawl

You could have the symbote form spiderlegs, like maybe from his rib slash marks, and have him crawl up the wall so that his face is forward, that way he can just push off the wall with his feet and get to killling.

Anyway , back to Wolvenom win poses . If you read the New Avengers issues where this was created . All the heroes became symbiotes because Dr Doom drooped a symbiote bomb . I have to say, it's strange trying to download characters on my phone.  However I did find a way to join this party. Wolvenom has turned out better than I expected, my friend. All of these releases are substantial and worthy of praise.  I may not be able to post much so I'd like it stated that I am still keeping an eye on the goings on here and you people can expect a large release when I return.

I play him in my mugen on my computer... works perfect  :)

1st time I downloaded it didn't download the whole file, computer error happened in the middle of it but that was all my fault for going in the other room quick and letting my mom think its ok to turn the comp off... LOL

so I downloaded it for a second time and it woked perfect  ;D (he's like a evil mugen grimlin that feeds on chars I send to him... hes like the mugen reaper O_O)

He looks and play just great. He's one of my favorite characters in here. Now some of the characters that has been already release their creators gave then some sort of update.

Would the creator of Arthur step up to the plate and give us some sort of update  for my other favorite character Arthur. I think with a few more things aded in an update it would make him an even better character. Maybe more wepon other than the 3 that he already has.

Well, I guess that makes sense. At least he won't look too out of place while fighting the "clean" sprited Capcom chars (MegaMan cast, Lilith, Morrigan, Lord Raptor, Amingo, etc).

For some reason, the Wizard kinda reminded of Dr. Neo Cortex in this cartoon.

This version of the surfer is by far the best version of the bunch, the other versions don't come not even close to this one. U should not be without this version if u are a Silver Surfer fan.

Hmm, I had no trouble with it last night. Try updating your Java - that can cause those kinds of errors on occasion. If it still doesn't work for you, I guess you'll just have to get one of us to PM her to you.

why not try to contact ArielAlexCo, try explian the situation and ask if you can keep the moves, so you don't have to remove them?

I used sprites from a spritepack that I thought were all Capcom. Apparently I was wrong. IMT is working to resolve this matter one way or another. Trust me, Wolvenom will live on.   :O*D

Does this mean some of wolvenom's moves will be replaced? That looks like half his specials.

Nah, it's more like 3 air kicks and part of his shoryuken-type move. Walking back sprite + laying flat too. There may be a few more, but it shouldn't be hard for a talented spriter like DT to replace if he has to.

I remember conversations about this as he was making the character. It seems between MVC, XvSF, MSH, Bone claw and adamantium versions, there were a whole lot of variations on Wolverine's sprite set floating around and that made it pretty tough to tell what came from where.

Oh well, if it's updated that gives you a chance to put in that new hyper portrait I made and maybe a new move or two.  [-O< :O*D

EDIT: There was a little error in sources and what DT thought were capcom sprites were actually arielalexco's custom sprites.

With that in mind its going to take a bit to locate all the sprites and hand pick them out *like a nasty pizza topping*. So nobody try and get hot blooded and just stay cool, wolvenom will join our rosters again with and update that will make all other symbiotes that came before him obsolete. *Thanks to volzzilla for clearing up my mistake*

Didn't want to speak for everybody but I figured this would answer every question to those that are too lazy to read back a page or two.  :P

I wonder how long this new Wolvenom will take? Hopefully it will not take the remainder of this year and a great portion and maybe almost all next year as well for this updated new wolvenom to come out.

SMvC is nearing a second yearly update so I would say no later than Dec 31st.

Unless that is, wolvenom is taken off the roster but its not too many sprites.

Well, that depends on whether or not someone decides to scour through all the versions of Wolverine, from the different entries in Capcom's Marvel Comics/MvC fighting game series.

Even then, wolverine is the only one to have two slots in mvc2 and his smaller sprites make it easy to customize especially if you are working with 5 different colors of black and white.

If wolvenom doesn't make the cut by the end of the year, there are many more wolverines but its the fact that wolvenom is so unique it would be a crime to pick 5 other wolvies over this one.

My point is despite how many custom sprites were lost, I'm positive DT can more than make up for that tiny setback, I mean even other members are contributing sprites.

Listen guys, I am trying to figure out what we have to do now. Maybe ArielAlex will grant some permissions since the Wolvenom character is a totally different character than Wolverine. I would appreciate his assistance in this matter. If not, then it's time for me to make some custom sprites to fill the gaps.

Ye of little faith...lol Remember good ol DT made custom sprites for the intro, cannonball, & other moves. Look at my custom stuff on Medieval Spawn & the Batman Beyond Armor hyper. So it is definitely possible for me to accomplish some custom spriting. Wolvenom will live on in Super MvC. Many of my team members even offered to lend a hand in this.
