Nexus Screenpack Alternate Lifebar Issue!!
« on: July 11, 2012, 01:02:01 PM »
Hey guys,

When the health bar drains away completely, the characters don't die until a couple of more hits??

Does anybody know how to fix this??

Thanks for the help.

I don't know how to fix it.. but I know why that happens.  The actual lifebar sprite is longer than the sprite that covers it.  So the lifebar isn't actually drained when it appears to be on screen because the lifebar is longer.  Aside from shortening all the life bar sprites, I don't see how this would be fixed.

You don't need to alter sprites, you need to alter the range of the lifebar.

0 refers to the position of the X axis and most lifebars have their end point aligned to that, so

range = 0,144
would be a 144 pixel lifebar draining between 0 and 144 pixels. If you cover it up so there are say... 40 pixels of that lifebar not visible you would do

range = 40,104
and get the correct effect. I suggest you try that out, it may take some trial and error.
