I'm having MUGEN trouble with Vista.
« on: January 07, 2008, 10:42:01 PM »
I have the Gateway version of Windows Vista, and recently, I transferred all of my files from my Windows XP MUGEN to my vsita with a flash drive.  Now, every time I try to load MUGEN, it closes down.  Can anyone help me out here?  I've tried everything, and I still got jack.  Me want MUGEN!  \-/o

Could be the screen pack. I have that happen to me in the middle of playing once in a while.
Could also be the music plugin. What are you using?

I have Vista and I have never had any mugen problems.Hell it works better on my Vista computer than it does on my old XP one,It probably worked crappy on the XP because it was very low end.

In that case this dude may be having some normal mugen issues.Maybe he's got characters that screw up his game or that his Comp doesn't have too much memory.

It could be your plugins

That too.Or maybe he turned off the random color for the computer controlled oponents.

Why not try downloading another mugen put in some of the chars in the new one and see what happens. If it doesn't screw up it could that there's an issue with your current mugen but if it still screws up you may have to do something in the DX of your comp.

The plug-in I'm currently using is in_mp3.dll.  Any of you got any suggestions?

Damn, I had it working for a second, and then it shut down.  Man, this is seriously getting old!  ~X(  I put Kamek's new screenpack in place of my old one, and nothing is working still. Have the MUGEn gods betrayed me?

I even tried moving my old characters to a new folder, with a same name, and I still can't get it going.  Maybe it might have something to do with my characters being from a different hard drive.  I don't wanna get rid of my babies!  :'(

I had the same problem, I have a Gateway laptop, and I told them I replaced Vista with XP, they kept saying they dont support it. pshh. Oh well, but maybe you have to run in compatibility mode? (I know Mugen works with Vista because others with Vista have gotten it to work) It shouldnt matter where the data comes from, before I took Vista off I used my thumbdrive to test some apps (note there isnt much yet that supports it)

Well, looks like I finally got it working!  I set the Windows compatibility to Windows 98 or something.  Either way, I can still continue being a mugeneer.  Even though I said it before, thank you all so much for your input!  8)

Glad it worked for you :)

EDIT: wow really? Mugen was made back in the win98 days, though the winhack is more recent... how much memory do you have? you can check by right clicking on your taskbar, then going to task manager

Still doesn't work with anything above or below Windows 98, even with that awesome plug-in.  I'm a bit disappointed that it crashes when it gets to stages with MIDIs in them.

Well if your going with win98, you'll want to get the older version of the plugin at choujin's site.
That should stop the midi crash.
Other then that, if that dosnt work, use the old inmad for midi only and the 150b for mp3 files.

That's Fat.Anyway if it's not memory issues then I'd say it's either a character,Stage,MP3,or Screenpack.

From what I heard it's best to put in each of your characters one at a time.Eachtime you add one character or stage or anything you check your mugen to see how it plays. If it screws up after you put a particular character in then you found your culprit.Because for me when I had a GGXX May(Forgot who it's from)My game would lag up badly then it crashed but then after I removed her it would play.(Now I'm using Meka's May)Anyway if it's not a character stage or MP3 then it's probably just the screenpack. Why not try a different one?If it STILL messes up then I don't know how to help you then.A dude here in this same thread said that his mugen is working fine for him and he's using Vista.

I with the peps who syarted this topic its somen with vista i spent 3 month fine tuning my mugen so i could have the perfect stage. Check characters, stages, and mp3s.  I ported my mugen to a friend computer who has xp and it works perfect.

The question which everyone is asking anyone got tweaks, patches, or know some method to some mugen from crashing on vista.
Or better said does anyone know how to stop vista from interrupting mugen.
