Sprites rip resolution issue (HELP)
« on: August 28, 2019, 07:54:10 PM »
Hope I'm in the right section.
I don't know how many of you are familiar with YUZU emulator which is a quite new emulator currently in development.
For those of you who don't know, this emulator allows you to play Nintendo switch games on your PC.
What I'm currently trying to do is to rip some sprites from switch. The only way I can do that is the classic way (screenshot the sprites I want to rip). Now the problem is the emulator window resolution is 1280 x 720 and it won't go down to 384 x 224 (the resolution we need for sprites to look well).
I tried to fit the 1280 x 720 screenshot into 384 x 224 via GIMP but I lost the artwork quality (I circled a few errors with green for you to see).

Now them dots will have to be aligned and not overlayed like that. Hope that makes sense.
So, long story short... How do I fit a 1280 x 720 window into a 384 x 224 window without losing the sprite quality? If anybody knows how to fix this, I'm listening...

You can use a tool called ScreenGet to help you http://spritedatabase.net/download
It works by taking screenshots and it has even a resolution tool

About the resolution, you need to calculate it right. If the original resolution is 1280x720, you need to use 384x216, to keep the same aspect ratio, or you will get this type of artifact.

Makes sense. Will give it a try. Thank you so much.
