GCW Zero
« on: November 04, 2013, 10:32:30 AM »
Hey guys,
For a while I been thinking of buying this.
I wondered if anyone has it or has tried it. Wanted your opinions on whether you  like/dislike it.

http://www.gcw-zero.com/

I like playing my SNES games and such via emulators, but don't care for playing on my PC anymore. I thought it would be cool to have a handheld device for convenience and mobility.

Either this or I buy an actual Super Nintendo lol

ah, its like a Dingoo, its even uses the same OS

Operating system:   Linux 3.x (OpenDingux)
Memory:   512 MB DDR2

I had a Dingoo A320 (the most famous of the Dingoo family) and I can say: worths EACH DOLLAR SPENT. It seams to be as good as Dingoo too.

My only complain is: with 512mb, you won't be able some games at full speed, like PSX games. But I need to check, because Dingoo has a 400mhz cpu (which we can overclock to 433mhz), this baby has 1Ghz.

This was my Dingoo

Cool, I will continue it soon...

...because I got a new toy:

CPS1 Power Battle running on the Dingoo A320. It works so perfect :)
Dingoo A320 is a portable emulator videogame, cheap but amazing.

Google about it :)

Cool. Thanks for the feedback. I did see the A320 when looking into the GCW.

I don't plan on playing PSX games on it, mostly 2D SNES/Gameboy games and some games I have on MAME, like X-men, Metal Slug or SF3.

The only bad thing I've heard about it is the buttons need some silicone grease applied, else they stick.

SF3 won't be playable, but the others runs pretty well. CPS-2 games have a bit lag (diminuished with overclock at Dingoo).
But for all other the rest of games, its just amazing. Some games, like one of Breath of fire, can be a tad slow because the transparency, but most games runs just fine.

If it runs Dingux, you can put more games on it. I remember I put The Day of The Tentacle, a classic DOS game, on it :)

Interesting... Does Dingoo require it's own emulators or will emulators on my PC like MAME and SNES9x work?

No, it required its own emulators. In most of times, its included (its at least at dingoo)
but its easy to find. Then I used a SD to put all Genesis+SNES+Master System complete sets +many CPS1 and CPS2 games on it. :)

Like that boy says on the video, "IS THIS THE REAL LIFE?" :)

Ok, that's cool. I thought it might require it's own emulators.

I've been googling it some more. Looks like they are trying to make CPS3 games playable on the GCW?

I hope so. SF3 is my favorite fighting game right now.
