well i tried doing it and all it does is crash...
it says:
error message: Error Loading BGM: sound/(name of mp3)
anyone know what the problem is?

well...

are you putting the mp3 in the sound folder?
is the mp3 named properly?
is the file even an mp3?
are there any weird spaces or cahracters in the mp3s filename?
is the .def looking for the right filename?
are there any typos?

yes i put it in the sound folder, yes its names properly, yes its an mp3
this is the mp3 name:X-Ray Dog - Cyberworld
how do i know if the .def is looking for the right file name?
and i added the in_mp3pro.dll plugin...

I too have this problem. MP3s will play on stages but no other screens such as title, select, and VS. They play like once then that's it. I just use OGG now, was never able to solve the problem.

Try renaming the file without any spaces in the title. I make mine something simple.

example:

Before: Mastodon - Sleeping Giant.mp3
after: sleepinggiant.mp3

that always seems to work for me.

thanks it works!! only problem is that it takes a while for the song to come on.

its usually better to just use OGG files anyway. thats what I do as well.

Yeah, I think they do. They have less problems than MP3s I think.

plugins OGG.DLL or Cube.DLL would be used for .ogg files.

but i just wanna use OGG for the main menu and select screen only. not for stages.

You NEED to use those plugins for .ogg files it doesn't matter if its only for main menu and select screen you NEED to use those plugins.

ok so i downloaded ogg.dll and .cfg and changed this

plugin = plugins/ogg.dll, ogg

is this correct? and where would i place the ogg files?

that's right, also you would put the .ogg files in the sounds file in your mugen dictionary

ok if my data folder doesn't have a "sound" folder should i make one? or can i just put the ogg file in the data folder?

well you should make one, if the music doesn't work than move the music to the data folder.

Did you put in sound/(you music).ogg for the music.

Try putting in plugin = looptype=2, plugins/ogg.dll, ogg
and don't give up so easy
