Vista and WinMugen HD ?
« on: November 18, 2008, 05:05:18 AM »
Im rather new to Mugen and have WinMugenHD running on Windows XP without any problems...

I copied the base folder to my Laptop which runs Vista and it wont work  >:(, giving me this error message:

"M.U.G.E.N Error"

"Library (built in) message: Can't change video mode"

"Error Message: Error: Can't change video mode to 1280x1024x16bits"

Any ideas?

Cheers

That does not solve the problem.

Ok well I would ask you this Gasman, What is your computers screen resolution set to? If your max settings are smaler then what HD is trying to change it to, you may just have to go into the .cfg and change the settings to fit your screen.

Well.. this fixed the problem..

I opened up the mugen.cfg in /data and changed the resolution in WinMugenHD to 1333 x 768 and fired it up.. and it worked.. but it was a bit off so I opened up mugen.cfg again and set Stretch to 1 and this fixed the problem..

Now I seem to have another problem, the Screen flashes from time to time, doesnt do it on XP... it can flash at the bottom, or at the top or a full screen flash.. its quite strange, doesnt happen on the XP one..

-----

Now the only problem I have is getting WinMugenHD Screenbacks and Stages???  :'(

I have it working now, well.. still fluttering a little... I have switched to WInMugen Plus on my Desktop and prefer it to HD..

So maybe ill try WIn Mugen plus on my Laptop and see if it still flashes like a bee-otch?

Oh.. and I also have had a few crashes after playing for 30 mins + with Vista...  >:(

I have vista too and when ever I use hi-res of any mugen thing it usually crashes.  I dont know why, I have 2GB RAM....
A thing that helped for me is to set the keys as follows:
A=A
B=S
C=D
X=Q
Y=W
Z=E

I dont know if it will help but it helps a little bit for me because I'm a button masher.

Oh.  I could never use a joypad, I'm so used to the key board :D.  Well, I just use plain o' winmugen.  It doesnt freeze on me.  It's good to know someone else is having the same problem.  Also I noticed you shouldnt use mp3s.  I remember once I put them in the stages it started crashing.

Thats because you need a plugin thats tweeked to work on vista with mp3's
Just go to my website
freewebs.com/spidermew
and go to the mugen arcade
then Hosted Extras.
You'll be able to downlaod a plugin that makes mp3's work with mugen and vista  :thumbsup:

I had a similar problem, the MP3s were distorted and making the game lag a little.. i found this somewhere..

Go to Start > Control Panel > Sound And Audio Devices > Audio > Advanced (Sound Playback)

.. then turn Hardware Acceleration all the way down, this will remove any cracklyness from the MP3s :)

-------

And Im only using the Joypad till my USB Arcade Stick arrives  :D
