man do u know how happy i would of been in 2002 if i knew mugen or mame for dat matter was around i was poor in 2002 and didnt have any good games to play but i had a cpu and i was always playing street fighter online this whole time i could of been playing mugen

i remember it like it was yesterday man it was sometime in november 2006
Same as me! We were playing soccer at P.E. and a friend told me "You know I'm making a HUGE fighting game." I was like :o and asked him "WHAT!?" Stone Cold-style. He told me "Yeah, get Win Mugen. It's a little program that you can set-up to make your own fighting game. However you need to download the characters and stages from the Internet."
That same day I got M.U.G.E.N. and downloaded my first three chars (Guy, Captain Commando and Rock Howard). Back when StreetMugen existed and Random Select had a full Database.
The day afterwards my friend handed me a couple more chars to get started and then I enlarged my roster even more.
I now have 400+ chars. :D

i losed my old home in May,so i moved to a apartment and then back to a home,all i was having was my family,some clothes, a laptop and a clunky cpu

went to bane84's site downloaded a stage.
i looked at the files and i said how do i play this?
decided to delete the stage.
some days to weeks passed by...
a person posted a topic at the super mario war forum titled: "What's mugen?"
a person named "Overwatch"(it was different;he changed his name) answered with links to mugen stuff.
then i joined the randomselect forum, first mugen forum i joined.
then a friend(named fr33dom87) on stage6 told me about infinitymugenteam.com
i join.then a month later i created my first stage.
which was the Super Mario RPG Name Select Screen :P

[2] Tried to find it over Google, Wikipedia, and crap.
[3] Downloaded it, but didn't know how to get chars.
[4] Removed it.
[5] Tried again a few months later, but failed again.
[6] Tried AGAIN a "COUPLE" months later and succeeded with my character problem.
So now I play WinMUGEN. :)

Yeah, same here. When I was watching 2D fighting game videos on youtube, I found some videos of david2draw. While watching his videos, I thought "there is no game that has nightmare broly, thor, guile (david2draw's)....etc". Then I found out that was mugen. 1st time, I failed to install mugen, but when I found Zeus from World Heros Perfect, I wanted to play mugen due to WHP is one of my favorite games of all time. After several days, I finally succeeded installing mugen in my pc.
btw, the 1st character that I downloaded was either Zeus or Ryu by DG.

Two years ago, I saw a video on Youtube with the late great Reu's Evil Ken and Evil Ryu. I had the old Evil Ken during my first run at MUGEN. Found myself at the Guild, and learned of the glory of WinMUGEN, fell in love all over again, and here we are.

I was looking at a mk site and saw a vid with mk vs sf and I was like WTF! I viewed it and wanted to see more so I placed it in my search engine. It took me to a bit torrent of Mugen All Char Battle Zero full game download. I downloaded it after like 8hrs! When it first showed up with all the chars Superman, Ken, Scorpion, Thor I was like this is bad @$$!!! Then I learned to change and swap out chars, stages, etc.
8hrs lol ur lucky mine was like a full two days

Them I've descovered Mugen about January of 2000 and I was shocked with the possibilities. But Mugen was SO different than now: there is NO HELPER yet, the games emulation was few (CPS-2 was starting to be emuled), we got some sprites from PSX (and clean they by hand). Started to study it like a crazy, I've made my first Mugen character: Alsion III, from Breakers Revenge. It sucks, that is why he isn't for dowload :) He has some cool things, like strikers, morph, some funny moves like a fart (huahuahuah).

its started 2001 (!!!!!) i was searching for.....some supers for capcom vs snk 2
then i saw somewhere at a forum somebody talking about evil ken.
then i thought WTF!
how is something like this possible!
then i saw a horrible edit from cvs ken but in cvs2 something like that is not possible!
then my big brother discovered mugen a few mounths before me
an he created his first character: sfa3 fei-long ( mvc style ) but it was private he told me that i can have his character when i create another
character.
it was very difficult for me and i gave up....................
so then i started to play mugen only.
my brother gave up mugen in 2004 and now he is 27 and he did never gave me that character to me untill i create a mugen character.

He mentioned that characters that never existed could be made for it . That I must get involved in this because it could bring world peace & solve world hunger . His hood started to fall & I thought I seen what appeared to be horns . I shook my head & closed my eyes to try clear my clouded/drunk vision & make sure I wasn't seeing things . When I opened my eyes he was gone that fast , as if he disappeared into thin air or wasn't ever there at all . I was in awe and had to find out more. I learned that I needed to download something call mugen. So I found the main site, back then elecbyte was still around ( yea I miss 'em..), and I downloaded it. (This was also before winmugen, so it was dos based. And that means A LOT of the characters you see today, were nonexistent back then.) It came with the one character that everyone knows, kung fu man. I thought, well this is cool but there can't only be one character in this. How do I get that teryy bogard and hulk that I saw? So i read the mugen docs and readme's, and learned that you have to make the characters. Back then, it all looked like a foreign language and I thought, hah..hah...MAKE the characters, you got to be kidding right?
So I thought, some people must have made characters for mugen. So I began searching and came across sites like streetmugen, mugenation, mugenBR, ZGTeam, and Kissdbz.
I began downloading and putting characters in my roster. I thought I had discovered every fighting game fan's dream. But when I realized I could actually change the boring default screenpack too, it was too much lol.
So yea, there you have it. I find it very surprising that 6 years later I'm still in this. It must be the communities, cause there are some very cool people who do mugen, and even those who don't. And 6 years later, I'm making my own chars, stages, etc. Back in 2003 I wouldn't even dream of it. :-??

Those words haunted me every night for 7 years. I couldn't understand what that dream meant.
All I could see was me and an ominous figure fighting eachother on a videogame. I was Superman, he was Goku.
He would beat me everytime, and then say those words.........
Until today I still don't understand them. I looked up MUGEN on google to try and comprehend.
Maybe it was some dead old romance language. Maybe it was a code. Maybe it meant certain doom.

i was finishing up my degree in graphics design...
i had a friend there that always came to me for stuff when it came to computer....USB Jump hacks,Games,Software, and stuff like that...
well one day in class he comes running up to me telling me about this program called WinMugen.
He starts to tell me how you can have all theses different character from any fighting game in one game and even have characters never made for a fighting game in it..
i thought he was full of poop... i thought he wanted to give me a virus because of the other day when h wanted to to burn him a copy of the movie "Kids" and i gave him a copy of the "Crying Game" LOL!!!
but i tested this lil WinMugen thing out.... and well.... ever since then... i'm here now making things for the mugen fans now!

When i was 5 i worked for capcom making sprites, a few years ago they contected me to infltrate this comunity to make sure that people were still buying their games, and if they werent i was to kill everyone involved.
After i destroyed all the members of electrabite, i realized that people were still buying capcom products and decided to pick up spriteing again, this time for mugen.

I was lookin up everything mugen after that ;*)). Got my first Pc lab top in 2005 and the addiction pretty much started from there :-j lol.....
But now that itch is gone :-?? officially in late 2007...i fell off with mugen but Its still a dope @ss gaming Emulator in the Gaming community on the low real talk ;)

I remember long ago, I was looking up the song "Cuban Pete", from the movie "The Mask". In the related videos, I saw one of Homer Simpson singing Cuban Pete, which I went to. Then in the related videos, I saw one that was showing what Homer would look like in reality, which I went to. Then, in the related videos again, I saw "Homer Simpson vs Peter Griffin" and I went to it and it was awesome. Shortly after, I read the description to see what it was. It was a battle on "mugen". I went to see more videos from the user that uploaded it, and it was a lot of videos of the most random characters fighting eachother in an old Street Fighter style. I then realized these fights were done the same way one I had seen years ago was done. It was a fight between Steven Seagal and Godzilla, which was also awesome.
Well, after seeing all this awesome stuff, I decided to check out what Mugen was. I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it sounded very awesome. It sounded legit, too. At the bottom of the page there were links, including one to the homepage of the group that made mugen. I went there, and saw that it was free and simple to download. It was most awesome. Once I downloaded it, I enjoyed a match with Kung Fu Man vs Kung Fu Man. Afterwards, I decided I needed to adjust my controls and download more characters. I did this, starting with setting my kicks to a,s,d and my punches to z,x,c. I then googled for mugen characters and ran across this site, where I got plenty of neat stuff. It wasn't long before I wanted more characters and stages, so I joined the forum. I have since been enjoying the game and trying to master characters. Today, I have been playing for nearly a whole week and have around 150 characters and I have decided to be a more active member on the forums and what not. I prefer using the Megaman characters(Especially Metalman and Fireman, I love their voices)
I have also been trying to figure out how to make my own characters. I started small and just editted around the commands and constants of Vile(VAVA). I am going to use Cobra Commander to practice around with changing animations and sprites, though, since he doesnt have too many to worry about and it would be easier than one with 800+ sprites to play with. Also, if you actually took the time to read my whole Mugen life story, then thank you :P I appreciate your attentions.

Then I found Naruto MUGEN and realized how huge the MUGEN community was. THEN finally got MUGEN went to Random Select and went crazy.
Found IMT through trying to find comic chars as good as Scruffy's.

A buddy and I were sitting at work on our break trying to decide which series was better Samurai Showdown or Street Fighter. As we were bickering a young fella walked by us and heard us aurguing and said "Google MUGEN and you decide " So I did and well the rest is history.

I couldn't find anything about it then, so I just went along with my life, and had gotten myself an account on DeviantArt (reason being because I saw a really nice picture of Gardevoir by King-Cheetah, too bad it's gone). I then made a few friends, and one of them asked me if I heard about MUGEN. I thought he meant the Samurai Champloo character, but he meant the engine.
He then pointed me to JudgeSpear's channel, which had a whole slew of videos of Homer fighting characters, and the infamous "cheap buster" videos, featuring Metool and others fight characters like Tiger Woods and Majin Buu. I then got Mugen with some various characters, such as Pepito, Mario, and Ray-Man by Cyanide, but I wanted the then outstanding EvE screenpack, and the Wario I seen in that video with the stage, which over time I got them. I build several rosters over time, and currently I have around 60 characters.

Then, I don't know what happened, but I came across a website showcasing a bunch of Capcom characters, and a huge majority were characters I never heard of (like Evil Ken and Evil Dan... :o) I found that very interesting.
Then my bro got CvS2 for the Gamecube. That's when I learned about SNK. I ran across Marancv's website and saw even more cool stuff!
Pretty soon my MySpace was flooded with Mugen fights. I deleted my account recently though. I had become obsessed with Mugen. (Though I actually didn't attempt using it untill the end of ninth grade!)
Maybe by the end of ninth grade I got into Megaman: Robot Master Mayhem. I didn't know too much about Classic Megaman, but I loved the project. It was because of this that I got into Classic Megaman, though I had already played some classic games. Now I know a whole bunch about it, and as I joined IMT last year, I am now involved with RMM.
And to think it all started from a hacked PSP and that darn UFGE. (I never used it!)

and back in high school i always love to draw on paper and on the computer,my brother and i love playing rpgmaker 2k3 and stuff but when my nefule show me how good mugen is me and my brother stop playing rpgmaker and i downloaded mugen and the rest is history.

I'm sure it was the X-Men that got my attention. I don't think YouTube even existed yet. Youtube started up 2 years after that in 2005. I think when I was part of the Freedom Force game community, someone linked to it in the forum as something to the the creators from there to help with.
Now I feel old and think I should be better at creating for MUGEN! After all, I HAVE been playing for a decade now... :P
I think I thought it was too hard and afraid I couldn't do it. It really isn't so hard and I learn more every day. So if anyone feels like that too, you shouldn't. Try creating. It's actually very rewarding and fun. Even if it IS time-consuming.... lol

Some weeks later he actually brought the game and during a leisure time we had in the army we loaded the game and enjoyed playing a lot with other friends!!
I saved it in a cd or usb (dont actually remember) and played a lot with it! At that time I didnt know that I could add more chars and stages.
When I realized that and learning how to do it in 2008 (yeah I had my Mugen for 2 years without any updates lol), I started searching for Mugen chars and randomselect was the first site I came across with Mugen chars!!
I downloaded many stuff from that site but I wanted basically more Comic char content!!
As a result I started looking for more Comics chars and in 2009 I had my first appearances/memberships in various Mugen forums!!
The end!! :D

But i only started playing when MvC3 came out and i didn't have a PS3 or the money for it and since i saw Dante, Vergil, Venom and a couple other characters, MUGEN was the next best thing i guess...

After a few months, there were new PC games coming and I look through it to see if there is a Marvel vs. Street Fighter. I came across a CD cover which the front cover had artwork of Lilith, Morrigan and Bulleta. The back cover caught my attention most with screenshots showing Gouki vs. Shingo Yabuki in kof99 raining park stage, Sagat vs. Joe Higashi in kof96's Iori Yagami stage and so on. These cool screenshots were from Neogouki's website: http://ngmc.retrogames.com/ I was thinking was that the PC version of Capcom vs. SNK?
I borrowed it and played it, there were thirty-six characters from Kof, Garou mark of the wolves, Samurai Shodown, Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men and a few others and ten stages from various fighting games where some were familiar to me such as Nakoruru and Jubei's Samurai Shodown 2 stage, Orochi Yashiro's stage from kof97, Mai and Laurence Blood stage from Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and so on. My first picked was Gouki by VK and this Gouki is very fun to play and I main him mostly. His Zanku is pretty fun to spam :D
I went to school the next day to do google searching about this game by typing the title shown in the CD cover "Mugen version 2000.07.31" and I got into Andre Lopes website as my first Mugen site. There were nude contents in it which almost shocked me to death :o When I visited the What is Mugen? section, it has different select screen and that was where I found out that Mugen is a engine which allows players to make their own fighting game. :Terry
