Title: Astonishing Wolverine
Post by: ZVitor on March 29, 2010, 08:52:07 AM
My newest wip, symbiote is cool, wolverine is cool, why not a symbiote wolverine....again?
we have 5 silver surfers, 27 batmans, 175 cyclops... well, u got my point.

Thats pretty cool that you used the new costume. I think the face, and mouth could look a little more Venomish though.

Yeah I'd take AlexZIQ's advice. It looks good though

I actually like the new face/mask version of this character. Take's on the black suit spidey look with no mouth/tounge. I don't like the arm hair - Looks like a big black and what appears to be a dark grey colored mess. I suggest making the arms have white stripes and giving the claws a different color that stands out from the white of the outfit.

What's going to be his new hypers?

Can't wait 4 another great character!!  ^:)^

Wasn't that what DarkTabin tried to do

It looks amazing, but since DarkTalbain already made one...  if you're interrested in making another one maybe ask his permission to add more hyper to his character? One perfect character in the rooster instead of two different ones :)  :-??

This looks really interesting.  So how will you make this different from Wolvenom?

I like the costume, that means you have a sprite set of Astonishing Wolverine styled costume as well now, great choice.

So, you're totally gonna have a custom intro with Wolvenom right, right?!

That looks a little better.

Anyways how do you plan to go about sounds? Do like DarkTabin and alter the old MvC2 clips or use some X-Men Legends clips and alter them
Title: Re: Astonishing Wolverine
Post by: Alexziq on March 29, 2010, 12:41:58 PM
Actually I think a Carnage style of mouth would look better. More like a regular symbiote, plus it would differ from the current version.

like this

Title: Re: Astonishing Wolverine
Post by: HyperVoiceActing on March 29, 2010, 12:51:25 PM
That's not a bad idea actually. I would help differ them apart and I bet it'd look pretty sweet too

now we need one to look like the video game version.

Like this.....

Wasn't that what DarkTabin tried to do

No never. Mine was based on this fanart .....

And based on the way he was in Ultimate Avengers 34 & 35

I never tried to make him anything like the video game.

It looks amazing, but since DarkTalbain already made one...  if you're interrested in making another one maybe ask his permission to add more hyper to his character? One perfect character in the rooster instead of two different ones :)  :-??

I have an amazing hyper sprited. Just can't figure out how to code it. If Zvitor wants to collaborate on my Wolvenom that is fine & then we could put the new version in Project X. I'm almost positive he could figure out how to code the impossible hyper. It would be really cool.

If not....

Then good luck to you Zvitor in making your own vision of this character.  %%-

I got caught up in something. Probably your Batman Armor, so I forgot all about my problem...lol

Sabaki works on Wolvenom, but we can't figure out this hyper. I've been trying to get this hyper in there forever. Many people including myself, spent hours upon hours working on this. there is also a crazy win pose that needs to be coded.

If you want a crack at it PM me

Make april 1st jokes at april 1st day is not so funny, because everyone expect for some kind of lies...

Common guys..."Venoverine"?
I dont know how this sounds in english but in portuguese is really ridiculous.

so let me clarify:

1. Venoverine dont exist
2. Its just a fake pallet from my new real wip.
3. Astonishing Wolverine

Just saw the topic. Great looking Wolvie. I'll be using that fake Wolvenom pal either way as it looks bad @ss. :)

He looks to be a remake of the regular Wolvie though. So, will we see many new basic attacks or a lot of frankenspriting for him.? Or will it be mostly new specials/hypers.? Remember Dee Jay's upper body worked awesome for him (if you were looking for easy bases to work off of).

Not bad but i seem to remember his gloves and boots being blue. Sometimes MARVEL draws shadows so it seems black.

This looks really nice
I always wanted to create a smart palette for Wolverine to include all costumes including Astonishing and X-Force ones.

Some suggestions from a Wolverine fan:
1) Astonishing: gloves, boots and mask should be blue as well.
2) Astonishing: the blue should be a bit darker.
As a reference:
4) X-Force: gray should be a bit lighter.
3) X-Force: this smart palette doesn't really fit, the upper part's style should me similar to the brown and tan suit and the lower part's side "margins" should go all the way till the boot starts. If you could tweak the smart palette it could work really well.
As a reference:

The new stance is better and he looks more savage, but he looks like he's looking at a 45 degree angle.
And I noticed you said you were only about 1% done with him.  Do you plan on changing his entire move set so that he plays differently from Capcoms original character?  And do you plan on adding a lunge move similar to that of "Xmen origins Wolverine" the video game?

1% was about hawkman, wolvie was around 80% a least.
didnt played xmen origins game, but im tryng make a lunge like marvel ultimate alliance one, but is not a easy task, first attemps didnt looked good.

I think it should be a passive skill.   I mean, if you want to stay absolutely true to character.  Wolvie's healing factor is on all the time, I don't think it's a power he has to trigger mentally like most mutants do with their powers.  It just does it's job automatically.  This is, of course, only IMO.

Hey remember how you had the Green Lantern/Green Arrow tag team combo? What if you had something like that for Colossus, Rogue, and Juggernaut...but with less flair. You know, the fastball special? Reason why I say Juggernaut is because in XML II, when you throw Wolverine, he says something in anger to Juggernaut like, "Hey, what are you doing?" But yeah, limit it to X-men characters...maybe you can leave out Juggs...I figure it can be easier for you though.

So 1% was about hawkman, but that makes perfect sense.
And I think Wolverine should have a passive healing factor.  Just like tazzer said, wolverines healing factor is active at all times.  I guessing it should be a very slow healing factor, in order to prevent this character from being cheap because of a quick healing factor.

And do you plan on having any fusion moves like in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2? Maybe with Ironman or Colossus?

great work indeed z, I know that you didn't have a lot of room to work with with wolvie's stance and all do most of his sprites and his basics making him really short.  Capcom made him really midget like more so than his comic book counterpart.  But anyway I hope you can pull off the lunge move, maybe if you make similar to your spiderman idk.  An idea for an intro could be he stands with half his face on showing the metal underneath with the eyeball looking around, it heals and he pulls his mask on.  I was thinking of spriting it for you, but didn't want to step on your toes since this is your pet project.  But I would be happy to give it a shot if you send me the sprites of his stance you made when he pulls his mask on I could do it for you to see if you like it.

anyway my man keep up the good work get at me when your ready to do ego the living planet lol jk

Tell me that the intro with the Sentinel has Logan screaming "This one's for you, Morph!" and spends about 20 mins stabbing the hell out of it while the other X-Men take out a fleet of them.

For the healing factor, what if you did a variation of Gill's Resurrection where after you beat Wolverine, he heals up and gains a portion of his life back?  If you wanted to go all out, you could sprite him beaten and bloody on the ground, and when he pulls off the "resurrection," all of his wounds heal up.

Awesome job so far. How is this not the default Wolverine for Project X?

One minor thing that kinda gets to me: It's like whenever his mask is off, his eyes are close. It's just a small thing though, you don't have to fix it.

just make it slow, so he isn't cheap.

Everyone knows that Wolverine has a healing factor that works all the time, more play with a character like that is not fun, it would be better if every time he was hit, recovering part of anergy that Lost.

the Wolverine's healing factor could function as the energy present in the exchange of fighters SFvsX, MvsSF MVSC. The bar of his life work as a reserve fighter, the damage inflicted on him would be divided into a total loss (as usually happens) and a red band on what would be regenerative
Provided via google translate.

What he means is.(I think)

You know, like in MVC2 when you got hit a little bit of your health woul be gone but they'red be a red bar behind that, and it would heal when you swaped out.

Like that, but it would work without swapping out.

I like this idea.

I think it can be a part of a hyper:

To start the hyper, Wolverine should connect a hit on the oponent, who gets dizzy. Then Wolverine crawls the wall, and jumps to the oponent using his claws...

Something like Vega specials on SFII

OK, I was kind of bored so I decided to play a bit with the smart palette for v2: :)

Left to right:
* Alpha Flight
* Extreme X-Men
* Original Yellow and Blue (black slashes)
* Age of Apocalypse candidate 1
* Age of Apocalypse candidate 2

In order to make it work, the middle of the pants need to be separated from the top slashes, that's why I added a new line.

Of course it needs Bowasiel's work on the pants both for zvitor's X-Force palette and for my Alpha Flight palette.

Hopefully my work will be useful [-O<

yep to fews bascis,  his strong kick, crounch strong punch, the get up anim an others have more sprites then capcom, (or aleast then kong capcom rips), u used somes sprites to fill broke anims and let it more fluid.

Also I see a sprite of his old stance at 1:11
just because is last video dont mean he is close to be released, still missing some other stuffs, like dizzy, throws...
this old sprites is because he dont have turn anims yet, so it use first frame from group 0 - the old stance.

...
the wall climb sprites only finished torso and head, will take a time to finish it.
i use unfinisehd sprites to code to see if it will work like i want, if not i dont waste time with unecessary sprite job.
and wall climb code used in wolvie is really complex, each sprite is a different anim, , because i dont want him sliding in wall, if u check it he didnt move hand with claw at wall, that incress the climb felling, also he didnt return to "wall climb stance" if u stop walking, he stay in same position... just like snes game.
