At least I can say I beat Silver Surfer back in the day.

Here's one to give you a nightmare..  Battletoads took me like 6 months to finally beat as a kid, if I recall correctly.

Lots of time and and practice.  Silver Surfer was the only game I used my pointer and middle finder to mash the fire button when the thumb got tired.  If memory recalls Silver Surfer and Battle Toads was a 6 - 8 month effort to finally beat.  Play it at least once every night after school.  If you play it enough you'll remember it.  Both were probably the hardest games I've ever beaten.
Dragons Lair and Space were two real good ones to flex the memory.  (PC Arcade Versions)
Those took a couple months to remember and beat.  There's no way I could possibly beat any of these games anymore.  I'm not as young as I used to be.
