Marvel vs DC who and why?

Even DC fans dont like Superman because of his omnipotence. Thats why we always root for Batman to use science to whoop him in every tale out there.

I like Superman, hell he's the reason I started reading DC... right before Doomsday, when the writers really didn't know where to go with his direction... Supes has relatable stories (at least I can relate) but when peeps say Batman can't beat him, I show them these 2 pics:

Of corse batman can beat superman, from what ive come to understand bats is the keeper of weeknesses, the only human in the league, he's the one trusted with all the secrets to stop everone in the league.
Im sure batman always has a lil kryptonite tucked away in a lil led box on his belt.

Heh, I like Supes too. Just part of me still hates the old Silver Age invincible God that could toss planets like basket balls. Once the DCU merged in 85 I was glad he was put in Thor Class strength, it made him a much more interesting character being more in Marvels power house range.

I at first was a little intimidated to answer in this thread because i wanted to the best of my ability to answer this

Since I was a kid there seems to have been a role reversal where Marvel seems to be the company that appeals more the young, and DC has become very serious and adult company (a reflection of Vertigo's influence I believe) Compare V for Vendetta, Batman Begins, and Constantine to Spiderman 3, Ghost Rider, and Fantastic 4, theres a big contrast there. I'm not saying either preference is right, Im curious what everyone else thinks....

I agree i havent been into comics for awhile(Got into mugen 3 years ago and have been hooked ever since)so i really cant answer in terms of Marvels continuity

. But what i can say is that i have been getting into ultimate marvel and i can say from my observation that ultimate line has definitly not only appealed to the youth but all ages. EX: ultimate spider-man=youth, ultimate x-men=teen+mature, ultimate fantastic four=teen+mature, ultimates=mature.(And i am only commenting on these cause i have read all of the current issues).

I always thought DC was serious in terms of there content. I only really like'd there villians like Joker,superboy prime,darkseid. But just like im getting into marvels alternate line im also getting into DC's and im really liking the direction being taken with DC allstars(Especially allstar superman). And i am feeling there new green lantern corps vs sinestro corps saga. But i have to admit im a little dissapointed that it really is only the sinestro corps in name and that the anti-monitor is the real big cheese

i like more of marvel,only now i really started with DC
i also didnt read comics,but i started last year(lately i grabbed a torrent with spider-man from the first edition to 535,spidey was A LOT DIFFERENT!!!)

Make mine marvel. If you say that DC is more mature only by comparing movies may I suggest watching the Punisher. That movie was grit to the bone. Also comic wise (I am HUGE marvel fan. Particularly Iron Man.) of marvel books being published aren't really kid stuff. Read the entire Annihilation series. A bunch of bugs ripping apart aliens decimating planets. Iron Man, people being ripped apart being blasted apart. (Iron Man 1-6 and Iron Man #18-19.) Terror Inc has me hooked because of the first issue alone! In that issue people's heads are ripped off and attached to a new body, people are shot at by thousands of rounds reducing him to a pile of sludge on the floor. Marvel isn't for kids (except Power Pack and their Adventures line. Plus DC seems too overpowered. Flash, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern(and the corps) Shazam, Captain Marvel. Etc. While Marvel only has a few major hitters that are even near those levels. Galactus, Living Tribunal, One above all, Beyonder. And those are cosmic beings that don't show up very often. And are usually evil. Except for the 2 and 3rd. Batman is my favorite DC.

it always has been just hasnt been there forte mean the hulk for instance he has had a crap load of stuff happen to him even before WWH

cuz he has married a queen from another planet b4 only to see here crushed  saving a kid

That doesnt even touch Vertigo stuff like Sandman, Animal Man, Swampthing, Constantine, or Shade. Marvel has tried a dozen time to start a mature, or horror line, and has failed horribley. They tried making Nightmare into a Sandman monthly years ago, uhg. Its just a company that appeals to less to mature reader fans. I think if DC owned Blade it would be a strong 2nd string ongoing. While it may be dark, it just doesnt hold that kinda rep, at least not in the same league with DC's supetnatural titles.

I dont agree with this on the bases that in the ultimates Ant-Man is a wife beater(And yes i know this is just content from a couple of issues but it is still mature and graphic)

Im a Marvel fan to the death but Batman is my favorite hero.  Conflict much?  I just prefer Marvel as a whole.  DC is pretty boring imo.

See though Ant-Man 0r Hank smacking around Janet is old hat from the 70's. I wouldnt really say thats a mature reader book when the idea was explored in the regular avengers books 30 years ago

True but you cant deny that the content isnt intended for mature readers though, whether is was explored 30 years ago or now. And i have to admit i didnt imagine hulk being this great of a threat but it does make sence considering the madder he gets the stronger he gets, and that whole healing factor thing 2
