Hydron VS Nool
« on: October 14, 2007, 04:13:22 PM »
So I've been offline the past few days...
I come back to see that Gal129 has released CVS2 Nool.  I thought I'd peruse the web to see what people were saying (if anything).

This is what I found:

Well, seems that people over at the Guild don't really like my version.

Also, KFM: how can I know what you don't like about it if you don't post feedback?

I just downloaded Gal129's version and I've been testing him out.  Although I do like what she's (he's?) done with some things (most of which were going to be added in to the EoH update for December):

1.  P2 PalFX for getting hit by certain attacks.
2.  The "other" move with Hydron's trident
3.  The many PALs
4.  The portrait

I think there are several things about it that make it a poor choice.

1.  The animations are WAY too fast.
2.  The projectiles are all translucent.
3.  Some of the moves are very choppy and miscoded (esp. the walking and dashing anims).
4.  The moves don't always hit:

Of course, I'm a bit passionate about this particular character.  What does everyone here think?

well i havent played either version nor am i big on nool, but i say you shouldnt worry about the other nool or if people like yours. some people like the mvc style better than others do. simply enough you can't impress everyone, if theres anything really wrong with it im pretty sure you'll get feedback for it. keep up the good work

I meant that saying that i liked YOUR version better, judging on the reactions that you`ve read at the guild...I`m here most of the time, and i really like your Hydron!
I have preferred MVC since a long time, although i`m kinda rusty now
 :) :) :) :) :) :)
My comments there were to give support to your Hydron,as i said, before:"I better keep Trasgo`s Hydron"

Well to be honest I like your Hydron better Trasgo07. I haven't download the one by gal. Your has that one super move that kill an oppenent in one hit. I really don't like character that come with bars some, but not all. They sometime mess up my stage BGM. I mean I have Capcom fighting Jam so I would know, but MVC characters are always better. honestly your is way better.:w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

What Iron said, also you shouldn't be mad because some else made Hydron,
the fact that eveyone can port/made any character they desired into mugen
is what made the engine so great, so what someone else ported Hydron..well
more characters to play with (which is the objective of Mugen right -to play-)

just look how how many Kens are out there but Scar is making his own ver.
which is cool because it will have -Scar's touch- which will make it different
from the others, as well as your Hydron has your touch (plays the way you
want him to)

so bottom line don't be so subconscious about which character plays better
(which would differt from each person licking) and just do your best   ;)

You shouldn't worry about what others say, but I do agree with you on one thing, if someone is gonna say "don't download it" and you are clearly looking for feedback on to make it better, that person SHOULD say what is wrong especially if they post in the same forum. With that said, if Trasgo7's Nool/Hydron has a problem speak up lol. I mean I don't think ANYONE here should crucify anyone who likes Gal's take of the character. It is just a preference.

I think what jesuszilla meant was to actually make Hydron redearth styled, not MvC or Cvs.
But trasgo, I like yours better, not just because I'm here at infinity but I prefer MvC style, it is alot funer to play as. And you seem to have put more work into it because they probably have the groove system backed up. It was probably saved as back up and just added it to what ever character they make. But like Iron fist said. You can't really compare them because they are different styles comepletely. It comes down to what style your better at. Don't let em get to you Trasgo7 keep doin, what your doing! Don't get discouraged by them.  :)

I'm probably gonna get killed for saying this, but I personally kinda like Gal129's a little better. Not saying that yours is worse or anything, because I think you did an excellent job, in fact I had your version for awhile, but I'll give you my reasons why I prefer Gal129 version overall. First of all I dislike strikers, I mean it's cool to see red earth characters running across the screen, but I prefer them to be completed characters instead. Also the reason why I like Gal129 version more is because he seems to have a few more moves such as the trident suction and the ink squirt (still don't know how that works?). Also Hydron cant seem to do air combos which sorta defeats the purpose of it being MVC, and finally I like the cvs effects a little better but that's just my personal taste. Nonetheless don't take it personal, you just wanted to hear different opinions so I thought I share mine, as for your character I still think it's great. =D>

Because I'd be here awhile, and really stated my opinion: I wouldn't recommend any of the released Hydrons at this point in time including my own. Not to mention he doesn't make a well transition to MvC style: really none of Warzard's bosses will due to a severe lack of aerial basics and the abilit to crouch, unless you go the butcher route like CFJ did.

At the very least you're missing some clsn2 there on some of his anims, among other things which should come up during more testing. Make use of Mugen's debug options some more.

I'm not.  I just don't appreciate it when someone says "hopefully it has something different then [sic] the one on infinitymugen's char section" and leaves it at that.  Well, what would you like to see in it?

I'm probably gonna get killed for saying this, but I personally kinda like Gal129's a little better.

Not at all.  That's why I started this topic -- to see what people think of the two versions.  I appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

I'm not looking for blind praise (or for that matter, blind disgust).

I think what jesuszilla meant was to actually make Hydron redearth styled, not MvC or Cvs.

Probably so.

Well... thanks for that.  Now I know exactly what you think needs to be changed...
If you don't want to bother giving feedback or pointing out bugs you come across, then don't tell people you "wouldn't recommend that one" unless you've got a reason.  What you've said here does not tell me why you wouldn't recommend it, only that you think warzard bosses don't translate well to MvC style.  They probably don't translate well to any style because they were supposed to just be slow-moving behemoths for one of the four playable characters in Red Earth to knock off before getting to Scion.  If you do want to post feedback, go to the Project Release section or send a PM.
