A rather curious character-specific problem

Hey,

I've been trying to use the character Nu-13 by Neat Unsou, and there's this weird issue. I use two different mugen setups, one running IMT blue screenpack in 720px res, and the other running IMT red in 480px. The character works fine in IMT blue, but whenever I try to load her in IMT red, it come up with a "cannot load Nu-13.sff" message. Does anyone know why this would be?

Should be fine in both, mugen is meant to manage the resolution crap for you. All i can think of is that you're somehow maxing out your memory buffer as per stage topic just below.

Open mugen.cfg and play with the memory caching/buffering. That's not a small character so it may be causing you issues. Try and see.

I gave it a shot, changing SpriteDecompressionBufferSize to both 64 and 128 megs, but I still got the same error message. Both of the mugens I used have the same amount anyways. I'm very confused as to what could be the problem.

I only mentioned the res because it's one of the few things different between the two mugens. The others are that the Red one has far more characters (some 500ish), but not all of them are active at once, and Blue has much less (something like twenty); Red is as a smaller res than Blue; and Red usually has music with the stages while Blue generally doesn't. And I've turned Red's sound off in the .cfg file so I can listen to things while I run it.

Any more ideas?

It's the same EXE file, just different motifs. I see no reason for it to crash out.

Cut and paste the contents of your select.def into a notepad file and just leave nu in there, then try. I would like to rule out player caching and such.

Also 128 was probably a bit high really. It's a tweak it field, not all or nothing.

Tried with just Nu in the char select, still didn't work.

I only listed the differences because I have no idea what's causing her not to work since the two setups are virtually identical. :/
