no dvd player? CDs are too small mate.

Also  was thinking about those heptic capabilities or whatever its called. Maybe the new controller will have no buttons whatsoever or just a stick, take iphone games, the buttons for games like ssfiv just appear on the screen and you move your finger, the new controller could be like this with buttons appearing on the screen depending on what the game needs however this is even able to create textures prossibly removing the horrible sensibility problem a touchscreen has nowadays.

On June 3, 2011, Nikkei issued a report confirming earlier rumors that the new console will feature a controller with a six inch touchscreen that will give tablet-like controls to games, as well as a rechargeable battery and a camera. The controller can also serve as a portable game machine. Nikkei says the system will be released in mid-2012.

On June 5, 2011, a mere two days before Nintendo's E3 2011 press conference, Game Informer, which had previously referred to the console as "Nintendo HD," speculated that the the final name for the console may be simply Nintendo.

Those controller making peeps better make Gamecube controllers compatible with the Wii U.

Why Nintendo wants to ditch this controller is beyond me

I never liked the GC controller, but it is the only way I can play SSB. Think about it though if not now then it will happen on the Wii U's successor, and we will complain then. It is 2 Gens later and we still want to use a GC controller?

On the other hand I'll bet they'll release a classic controller for Gamecube.

I dunno, maybe it's the old gen fanatic's side of me thinking it, but still I'd love to use the GC format again for the new Smash Bros

All the wii controlles are suposed to work for the wii u so the wii "clasic controller" should work.

yup and i think its much better than the GC controller but since it doesnt have motion sensors 90% of the wii catalogue wont work.

Incorrect, WiiU will be completely compatible with Wii games.

They said that Nintendo's shares fell like to 10 percent in like 2 days after they showed the Wii U.
They also said that they didn't understand Nintendo's strategy ; The controller would be too expensive and not as innovative as the original Wii Remote.
 =D>
I hope this means Nintendo will change the look of the controller, because I'm not really feeling it ... Like ... How am I gonna play SSB4 on that s**t ? lol.
They need to consider using this ...

Wasn't that the placement of the stick and pad for the Gamecube controller?

You can still use Wiimotes also.

As for ease of use:

Okay now imagine that without the screen. Oh! Its an easy 4 button, 2 joy stick, one joypad controller with shoulder buttons!

Lets see other 2 joy stick, one joypad, 4 button controllers with shoulder buttons:
(click to show/hide)

Looks a lot more comfortable than the N64, Gamecube or Wii mote controllers.
Plus you can still use the old Classic Controller add-on.

I imagine the controller will cost about the same to the customer as it does for every other console; $40-$60 based on how new it is.

Two joysticks...

One joypad...

Shoulder buttons...

Pretty dang comfy.

REVOLUTIONARY!

I was never 100% comfortable with it, but you're right it too is the same. The buttons are labeled the same way, even. So the controller seems like it is actually easier to use that the Wiimote for games like SSB, and is pretty similar to a GC Controller or even a DS.

The problem I have with the Wii U controller is that it's a block. There isn't much curvature, and the shoulder buttons are way too far up the sides. It's like the NES controller with more buttons, slowly digging into your palms until you're forced to put it down.

I know they're trying to be some kind of revolutionary with the screen and all, but the shape of the controller is a thirty year step backwards.

Not really, it is a very rounded surface and seems thinner than most controllers. Like I said its kind of like holding a DS.
