I also find asus to be reliable so it all comes down to specs. What the ASUS has over the HP is that the processor is more powerful since it's an i5@3.2GHz and the HP's Core 2 Quad@2.66GHz. The RAM is the same type and size and the the HDD is the same size. I can gather from the pictures the HP's 1TB drive is a WD green drive(it shuts the motor off to save energy and runs at 5400) and the ASUS 1TB is a WD Blue drive(it always runs at 7200 and will load faster). What I like about the ASUS computer is that it's using a standard case and the HP just looks like a mess inside.

I'd go with the ASUS since it's cheaper and not to mention that you will have a lot more working room to add new hardware to it.

How much hard drive space do you have, total wise? You should have at least 500GB... 320 won't cut it on Windows 7... lol... I have like 750 on mine... I have 500GB something left.. lol...

His Asus comes with a 7200RPM 1TB hard drive. I have a 1TB external and so far I have 376GB left over and I still haven't added files to it from my full laptop. My Asus laptop barely has 9 gig out of 320GB leftover. What has mainly been filling up my hard drives are videos and I just can't bring it to myself to get rid of them. I think I might just invest into a 2TB external; and that's not a lie. @-)

For regular use a small hard drive is not bad at all. What you should pay attention to is the RPM that the hard drive runs at and the size of it's cache. The cache is pretty much flash memory on the hard drive that helps it move more information faster to the cpu.

Edit: Also if you don't mind jaysteve, how about some photos of your new computer and graphics card? I just wonder what it looks like.
