Title: Trouble with the IMT Red and Blue Screenpacks:
Post by: lantern48 on December 03, 2011, 11:30:58 AM
I'm having a big issue running the blue screenpack or red for that matter, in the 1280 x 720 setting. The images are cropped and distorted, and do not display properly.

Here's the title screen and you can see how off the image is as the "Survival" option I've selected only has a portion of the top showing: (http://i40.tinypic.com/25ip3xl.jpg) In general, the entire lower half of the screen is cropped for some reason.

The stages are cropped as well, and special power meters -- for example like Lobo's or Atom's -- don't display properly onscreen either. Here's a pic of Atom and of the 6 Atom symbols that should be showing on the left side of the screen, only 2 and a half are visible: (http://i42.tinypic.com/r8cahi.jpg)

As you can imagine, this is horribly annoying and I'd greatly appreciate any help fixing whatever the issue is.

in the 1280 x 720 setting.

The IMT screen pack doesn't have a 1280 x 720 setting. It only works with 640 x 480. You would of had to go into the config file and change it to 1280 x 720, which doesn't work.

Mugen supports a variety of screen sizes now but all of them except for the 640 x 480 will screw up character graphics either by leaving fx stranded in the middle of the screen or by cropping off fx at the top or bottom of the screen.

So why support other screen sizes if none of them will display properly?
What's the point?

And why are people making Hi-res stages and Hi-res characters if you can only play them in 640x480?
I'm very confused.

1) The multiple size support is mostly because if you made a closed game project you may decide to use one of those other screen dimensions and specificially adjust all of your character's auxilarly fx to compensate for the engine. Otherwise, if you want to use the last 10 years worth of mugen content, you might as well stick with the default dimensionwhich gives you more vertical playing space.

2) high res stages and characters both look just as great on any resolution. Even on the default 640 x 480.
