How are you handling aliasing with the stroked path?
You mean those weird glitches you get with the line maker? Well if you have it indexed to 256 colors, and have it draw the line with the pencil (when the pencil is set to 1x1) it stops those weird glitches...
If thats what you ment...
Or do you mean how do i make the fire effect look wavy? Well that i got from an opensource sprite pack...

I've always used MS Paint XP, but this would make things much faster and easier.
Im still new to this program so im having a bit of trouble, but how do you make the background color of your sprite transparent?
Whenever I made a sprite I always used a bright green background, but when editing and moving things around I need that transparent background.
How could I change my green background into a transparent one?

Make sure you click the advanced options when creating a new file and you click the menu box next to fill with and select transparency.

I already knew how to open on with the transparent background, but what I meant is that I want to remove the non transparent background from one of my sprites.

I wanted to open it in GIMP and then remove the solid green background. Making it easy to edit the sprites.

U kno what SpiderMew nevermind bcause i figured out where it went wrong. i was trying to rush through and well u kno.....i apologize your tuts r actually the best cuz i actually kno how to use the programs a lil bit better. i was letting the summer heat get to me my bad now i can continue on to part two of the sprite edit. but i have to ask can u take a character sprite and turn it into a whole different character from this?

To get to the color picker, you double click the top color your using over on the menu window, its nomral black over white when you first start it up, double click the color and you can change it manualy.
Ok but when i click for black the color comes out brown instead

right under gimp 2.2 theres the gimp and the GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.10.13, for Windows 2000 and newer)

But I'm having a problem. I cant get the version of the gimp that you use, because I work on a Mac, and I'm having the hardest time figuring out how to make that palette (with the reds and greys). I'm obviously overlooking something because my gimp LOOKS just like yours but when I do the RGB thing, nothing happens....

Are you talking about the color picker?
I havnt used gimp on a mac so im not sure what to tell you. Perhaps if you could get a screen shot of what is like on your end i could give you some ideas.

Ok over on the right hand side where you see the rows going left to right, the lines that are marked R G and B are the ones you can put the numbers into to get the color you want. Or you can look at that rainbow colored collum and click on it and move it up and down to get the color of the rainbow you want then in the big box on the left you can select the shade you want.

I watched only from the beginning of your vids, but my internet access is slow for viewing most of your vids. I didn't know you made the tutorial of this, which is great. I wanted to complete all of the vids for learning but unfortunately it's slow. I don't know if this is ok, mine looks like not really MVC. What ive been doing is actualy cropping the parts evenly, spread them apart a few pixils then fill in the gaps.
Like split everyting down the middle and just move them a part a bit and fill it in. That will make it wider, then you do the same for going up in hight

If you look closely at how the base was shaded and how many colors that and other sprites from the same game were done, you can start to figure out how to shade your own stuff.
Keep at it though, I see much potential in you. ::salute::

Plus depends on what you wanna use , some use gimp which is free, others like me use regular Paint /mspaint for spriting and others use various others. I can post some working links to a couple for you if you want to get started doing g spriting in basic formats and work ya way up but its also depends on which ones you will feel either the most comfy using and also has the most resources in them to do the trick all in one. Gimp is a great one to use since you can much more in it . its like free Photoshop. 👍👍
