My stages crash my mugen
« on: January 30, 2011, 07:04:11 PM »
Hey guys,

I have a problem with my mugen regarding stages!!!

I have 274(dont know if the number of stages is a factor) stages in my mugen. Every time i add an extra stage my mugen crashes! When i remove a stage and then add another it works! However i noticed that if i have a mk stage and a mvc or mvc2 or some other stages then i have to remove 2 stages of mk instead of 1 in order to make my mugen work!

Can i fix this problem?
Is there a limit of stages in mugen?
If there is can i increase the limit?

Moreover i want to ask if i can use more than 1 stages for a character
For example I want Superman to have the Fortress of Solidude stage and the Kents Farm stage and it can be choozed randomly!! Is it feasible???

Thanks in advance!!!

i cant answer most of this but i do know that the number of stages is not the cause, atleast i dont think, i have over 400 stages  in mine and i cant tell you how many are MK or MKP stages as well as every other game theres been, so i think you can rule out the number  ;)

If you remove the stage and it works then iys probably the stage that is causing it to crash.

coding error or missing sprites could cause it to be corrupt.

As zombiebrock and Scar said, the problem is not the number of stages. The problem is a stage or some of the stages. You will have to create another folder to hold the stages and try adding them, and testing them one by one to determine which stages are corrupt.

It is either a wrong code or missing code on the .def, or missing sprites in the .sff that are coded in the .def.

How can i understand that a stage is missing sprites or it has an error in code?

First you have to determine which stage or stages make your Mugen crash by adding them one by one. Then see what the error message is and if possible, take a screenshot of it and post it here for help.

It is easier than checking each stage's code. That would really take forever... :-??

Yeah, it's your RAM right there, 512MB is just too slow. And they don't even produce Pentium 4 processors anymore. Ideally if you could upgrade to 4 GB RAM then everything would run perfectly. 4 Gig is a lot of RAM, 3 GB will get you running with about 500 satges and 1200 characters.
