Man Ray is great too, but with lines like "Make him eat dirt.. In addition to the world domination thing." There's no character better then that. :D

Here's the Astro Man sprite from yesterday (side by side with it's original form) and a new one of him.

         

Thinking of getting rid of that added detail I added to the inside of his middle pink square as it's not really worth the hassle and could just add regular shading to it. Actually having fun redrawing and completely reshading him. :)

Thanks. Usually just take the lightest color they originally had and build from there.

Was a request by L@nce Uppercut and I wanted to give a try at him myself. Doubt I'll make another of him though, his original sprites are usually a mess but this one wasn't too bad. Took me about three times as long as it takes to make one of Astro Man, but, atleast it's out of the way now. :D

Okay, this time I really tried getting the MvC style down some more.


Grenade Man

Everything is limited to three shades (except for the black outline). The added detail came from some game art of him that didn't show up in the game itself.

It looks good, which style did you try to make him?
He was just my style. Didn't try to limit myself to any type of shading. Was trying MvC style with Astro Man, but can tell there's too many colors and it could of been touched up some as well. Still think there's an MvC aspect to him though.

Can look up through my recent sprites of Astro Man and Clown Man to find added versions of them that look more MvC shaded.

On to the new stuff though. Kinda tired of writing for the sec though, so if you have any questions about these sprites, just ask. :)

Believe he was a one shot villain that appeared in TAS of the Teen Titans. Was in the episode "Employee of the Month", one of my personal favs. Made him to put in some stage somewhere someday. Wanna put him in a stage that looks like it could be an evidence room or something like that.

I think you did a pro job. In that last edit, don't you think the balls representing his shoulders are looking way darker than the original and see the light on the rest of the sprite in my opinion it's too dark. To me it feels the darker shading starts too high. Also I think you missed or decided to do not add the lightest color on the hands (except for the fingers). Hope that helps.

He's still a WIP just on a bit of a hold atm while I finish up something else. Can check the DC Project section for his WIP thread and what I've shown of him so far. He does have a decent amount of things done on him so far though. :)

Thanks. I was never trying to get the shading the same as the original sprite though. The shinier looking one is my own style, the other is the more MvC one. Just showing the original sprite to show how it was before I blew it up and redrew it. :)

A few people mentioned there might be a little too much going on with Luthor's face to really look right. So, here's the version without his head set to see if that's any better.



Never quite understood why Luthor didn't have a helmet of some sort. I mean, that pretty much makes his head very vulnerable and someone could potentially knock him out with a single punch, no.?

The faces on that lex vs superman pic, look a bit off.. like with supes, it looks like his head is crushed in the middle on the sides so his head if you looked at it from the top would look like an 8, with the face on the part looking tward the top of the screen on the 8
Hope Lex's head looks better now without his head set, though maybe I still need to mess with his skin colors some.

With Supes, it took me a little while to really understand what you meant. I get what you're saying now though, I did the head from scratch and shaded it the way one of his drawings was. So, that might be why it looks odd. Might just need to down play the shading of it some.

No problem.

Sure I understand this is your take on the sprite, I was just mentioning it. Look at the shading on the arms it goes further down than on the shoulder-balls, in that sense it might be a little weird, but seeing the overall quality, it's not even noticeable to 95% of the viewers.  :)

If they did MegaMan 9 like this it would be twice as good to me, meaning it could sell for double price. What do you think?

I think it's mostly the yellow versus the skin color that makes it hard to judge for most viewers. It's a good sprite though, with or without the head-set.
