animations is my actually terrible point
but i can be bad in other parts

I hate anything to do with gethit sprites, walk animations and hitboxs. I hate walk animations the most because on the number of frames it takes to make an animation look smooth. The rest is fun to work on.

 yeah get hits are hard depending on the character you making. for example for doc ock, man they are so hard to do and not just because of tentacles but because of the heads with hair and his anatomy that needs editing to make him look fat.  walking animations also are hard and u got the reason why correct. as for hitbox? are you kidding me, they not hard at all unless u are trying to make an existing character from a game and u want to get the hitboxes just like the source. I have study hitboxes from many creators and seen some posts about what not to do and when I make mines, I follow those steps and most of the times I got no problems with them.

 I have to say coding is so hard that I feel like giving up on learning. I have to really give props to guys that code that are good. how the hell you guys do it? lol!!!!! teach me!!!!!

To me it was doing proper transition sprites but after doing Superman I would say adding capes lol. Mostly because I did everything before adding the capes. So making sure everything lines up afterwards is a pain.

 that's easy for a guy like you with the track record you got. you are one of the best coders out there, but at first when u started I bet u had things that drove u crazy.

For sure, because when I started...the only graphic editor was the AirEdir for DOS. THAT was a pain ;)
But yeah, there are things I don't like too much to do, like the gethit animations. Its something I always delay.

I think Mugen limitations are the hardest part to me. There are things so way easier to do in other engines that I don't understand why it have to be so tedious in Mugen, like platforms.

Choosing which one is harder between coding and spriting is kind of hard, like with a lot of things, there are levels of difficulty in each one, as I used to code characters as well (although I forgot stuff due to lack of practice for several years), it still gives me a bit of insight.

At times a character was easy enough to finish in just a few days(and have an acceptable result).

I recall making a character out of boredom only for the sake of making a video of me fighting against it, and challenge some friends to defeat it. The attacks were simple(squash/shockwaves/quakes), it had unusual common states, helpers with different tasks  for damage control / vulnerability periods / armor / time etc...in short, it was a mini-puzzle bonus boss. Simple but fun to fight against, even if I say it myself :­P

When I look back at it, taking a general view, most of my average stages took 2-3 times the coding work of that, go figure.

Anyway, when it comes to basic stuff, creating a convincing original animation from scratch, (and when I say "from scratch", I mean without bases), and not the usual dislocated pixels moving up and down, head swaps, frankensprites, etc, is a lot harder and more time consuming than the coding basics.

As for the main question, limitations are annoying, like Ilu says.

-thinking of unique moves and play-styles for each character is where I spend most time grinding.

-testing and editing frame data to ensure solid game play

-mugen's limitations.

Ilu: Go to the development discussion forum at guild. Giant thread on cheat engine and using it for ripping values there. JZ has developed a script (i haven't dled it so this may be slightly inaccurate) that will pull the clsn's directly from the game and put them in a file of some sort. I haven't tried it but parts of this are true. He has another one that will take all frames and split them down to time = 1 blocks which is somewhat useful if you're trying for turbo, or super armour.
