Today marks the very last release of the February Infinity Download Party "spill over."
Today's last release our EoH game end-boss Symbiote Onslaught. Symbiote Onslaught started as an idea, then a sprite edit, then a full blown Onslaught edit. Here is the original post at Warmachine Madness by Stever76:

I quickly took interest in it (for obvious reasons) and when I first joined Infinity, I posted WIP pics about it in our very 1st forum. That prompted people to criticize and label Stever76 as a warehouser. Unbelievable how nearly 2 years later after that post he is finally seeing a public release. I am sure it is bitter sweet for Steve and it has been my pleasure to help complete him to Steve's liking. Most people have already played against/played with Symbiote Onlsaught within EoH, and some have not. I am posting some pics below for those people that haven't seen him in action. Enjoy :)

Just a reminder: I'm not trying to be an @$$. I'm just giving my feedback.
In my opinion, it feels too much like the original Onslaught. The very least you could do is give it better sounds. Maybe even find someone who could VA for a new voice?

Just wanted to official congratulate you and Stever76 both on such an achievement. Two years and "X" amount of long, hard, committed hours laters, a dream becomes a reality, not only to one man whom had an idea - Critisized and all, or to another man whom shared his visions and helped portray them to what lays before us today, but to a community as "Infinit" as Infinite, helpful, innovative, and as loyal as the sun and moon itself.
As for feedback, I'll try and get back to you when I have S.O set up (it's 1:00am PST now), tho i'm sure by then, you'll already have plenty of feedback from the rest of the house to play with.
In two words, "Simply Remarkable". Congrats Ex. One hell of a milestone... ^^(PM)^

It may not be S. Onslaughts problem.
Shao's hammer thats puts characters into custom states and it may of interered with the way hes coded which I would guess Super armor etc.
Feedback later today when I get home.

Absolutely awesome! :thumbsup: I want to congratulate not only Excursion, but Stever76 as well for this unbelievable character and for all the hard work that obviously went into him. It's just so great to see Excursion bring to life Stever76's vision :)

I can only imagine all of the blood, sweat and tears that went into this release. Take a bow, because you've certainly earned it ^:)^.
SO was incredible in EOH, and now everyone can enjoy him with in their own Mugen games.

After just a little time playing with the char I found some stuff
*The AI after a little time becames very predictable...for example it sends the (I dont know the name) "magnetic balls"..and then makes the blast (the one is the sprites of the optic plast)
*The summoning special...last too long....and the char makes it a lot....also sometimes the hyperbackground stays a lot of time after the hyper has been finished
*When he makes the "venom shield"..the only thing that has blue clsn is the shield...I think that the char should also be covered
*the blue clsn doesn't cover completely the char
*The second form gets stocked making an attack that uses the "magnetic balls"...but they doesn't move they only appear and disappear...sometimes even if you hit him it stays making the same
*Sometimes the head on the second form dissapears

I was wondering why infinity was loading so slowly this morning and now I know! Everyone is here for this! Thank you so much for releasing your beast Excursion. He's gonna leave a scar on Mugen games everywhere!

A lot of people can probably give better feedback than I can about the character. Still, I can honestly say that I've been waiting awhile for this one. It's awesome that he's finally being given a public release outside of EoH. I'm sure you still plan on doing more with the character, but congradulations for the work you've put into this character, and thanks for the release!
Edit: I couldn't help but notice, though I'm sure I'm not the only one. That Galactus that was in the screenshots you posted looked more like an Apocalypse Sprite Edit. Is there another version of Galactus in the works? /:O

His clsn's are good... I just can't beat him. He's too much for me, always has been.
I agree with Fallen Angel about the predictable AI. Close to every time he does the tendrils attack, hypergrab comes right after it.
And he attacks so fast... Heh, I digress. I can't beat him, too bad for me.

It's a private edit. I believe it was in the works for the Fantastic Four Project.

I LOVE what you did with this character, my only little problem is the helpers replacing the sentinels are venom and spiderman black suit, i was a little disappointed, but great release nonetheless ^^(PM)^

gotta lil' question, hope you can answer this... why won't you do the same thing as onslaught, i mean, the first round with form 1 and the 2nd with form 2. i think this can wrok better and also i will be not bored to fight him a second time.

I really don't write these topics but i felt the need to this time. I been in mugen for a long time not really creating anything just updating my game like any other person would. but for the past month you guys have release a hughe number of creations that are going to really change Mugen's history for better with fully completed chars and a much more enjoyable experience. so again thank you and congrats to your milestone and can't wait for MVC 4 the next step in Mugen.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here but he's just a sprite edit of the original Onslaught. There should have been a new take on the character instead of it just being a sprite swap. Also the sound is still crappy like the original version so that could've been fixed too. There's a lot of potential here but I don't see it being used, like it was for someone like Balrog or T. Hawk. : /

ok i tried him and hes a great character but he has a very strong ai. i cant defeat him :|
i tried him in watch mode against abyss and normal onslaught but they cant defeat him either, not even apocalypse and galactus together can. = /
so i think you should update his ai for another able to defeat, i mean you can defeat him with some very cheap characters but not with normal marvel vs capcom characters.
one more thing, i think the special when he goes to the background and the strikers appear deals a lot of damage and he do it a lot so it would be good to reduce that attack damage and amount.

Wonderful, wonderful character. But just curious, are there any plans for a "two round" version?
The current setup works great for one-round matches, but it seems kind of funny in multiround games.

Sounds could use some tweaking, more moves would be good too instead of all sentinels with almost every button, maybe a couple of regular hits.

Adding the confirmation email between you and Stever was a great documentation I commend you.

Well, i have to say, this character is awesome, but, it's only awesome at MvC EoH game and here is the reason:
* beacuse you have to beat him in 1 round, soh i have to say i was waiting for something like the original onslaught
Anyway it still having the same bugs as the EoH version "the second form head just disapear sometimes when you hit it and when you damage him his left arm just pop up but at the same time there is another left arm at the bg, and i think he is a little cheap, so make his defense low because that way the battle becomes more balanced.
But stills a great char, awesome idea and it came close to be perfect (i think just making that editon for a 2 round char and fixing bus will make it perfect ok :thumbsup:)

If I happen to get him in random select with my mugen , he is invisible & he dies with one hit . Maybe it's just my screenpack , though ?

i'm still thinking it can work better if it is programed for 2 rounds instead of one, like original onslaught

After playing a good deal against this guy, I think I've somewhat pinpointed the main "cheese" issue with the fellow.
As far as I can tell, the "tentacle" striker he has in place of the large Sentinel/Juggernaut cannot be injured or repelled. Standard Onslaught could spam strikers all day long, but it wasn't too bad because even the supposedly "unstoppable" Juggernaut he threw at you could be harmlessly knocked away if hit with enough force. But now given an invincible striker, his Symbiote incarnation essentially has the perfect attack. It's fast, it's unstoppable, it's spammable, it's large enough to clip characters that try to jump over/dodge it, it leaves little room for retaliation, and he doesn't even have to be remotely near you to pummel you with it.
Of course he is a boss, and bosses are supposed to be rather hard, but bosses are also supposed to be beatable once the player figures out how the thing ticks. And until that striker can be reliably countered, Symbiote Onslaught basically works via "Send out tentacles of death; laugh."

if he is in the corner, he is unable to walk forward unless you hold up and down along with forward.

I really like the work you did when you took Venoms big Jaw Clamp, and made it come out of Onslaughts chest. Very nice Frankenspriting. Spidey, and venom are very entertaining as strikers too.
Very creative character, glad you took your time with him!

Bug. You can defeat both forms by pressing the low punch button over and over again. That needs to be fixed.

First off wow! I mean wow! Symbiote Onslaught what a killer name. This creation beats all Mugen bosses hands down the idea is totally unpredictable, totally unique and overall fun! Just a couple of things I think could be better.
1. The hitsparks. I think it would be best to change the PSX MVC1 sparks to Arcade/Saturn/Dreamcast MvC1/MSHvSF style hitsparks. Because when Onslaught attacks I think the impact of the hit should be seem as powerful as possible and those Arcade sparks really display that incredible comic hitting animation that the PSX sparks are lacking.
2. Spider-Man & Venom super. Well, just Venom actually. Some people may think it's no biggie including myself but just thought I should bring this to your attention as I want this character to be as on point as possible.
It is rumored that in the comics, Venom is scared to flip. That is why whenever you read Venom books or watch him in the cartoon you will never see him do a flip or somersault, not once. I haven't seen him do it in the cartoons or comics before. When Symbiote Onslaught calls upon him for attack he comes in with a somersault like move, I think it would be better to make him come out with a different type of aerial attack. (maybe try his web swing and make him do a multitude of his aerial rave attacks afterwards?) These are just suggestions.
3. Second forms hit frame. For the 2nd form I think his stun animation frames could use a bit more work. When he gets hit his head should turn back in agony and he should vibrate, letting the players know they delivered damage to Symbiote Onslaught.
I think these 3 things can definitely improve Symbiote Onslaught as a boss character.
Other than that I have no further feedback to give. Everything else is perfect. Symbiote Onslaught is a beast! :o :thumbsup:
