Mugen Festival!
« on: October 24, 2007, 08:55:52 AM »
Ok I say it : What do you think about the possibility to organize an "International Mugen Festival"? (Sounds cool)

what we could need :

1.Numbers and contacts (I mean people)
2.location (Where? USA or Europe? Because there are a lot of people from China and Europe is an equal place)
3.competition and prizes
4.Organization staff
5."And the Infinity Mugen Oscar 2009 goes to.....Gabbard!"  :w00t:

Remember : We live only one time, we can do everything that we really want

This has been talked about a lot. Here are some thoughts.

1) It would need a sponsor to help pay for it, especially in the beginning
2) If we held it in Orange County California (for example) who would travel there and participate?
3) If there were Mugen competitions with prizes then there would be a need of experiences programmers to confirm all character submitions for game play are approved and within certain limits.

Just throwing this out there. :w00t:

Quick suggestions
1) I think that we are our best sponsors (collective payament?!)
2) Passion : if we are able to organize formally an event and take serious contacts maybe the people will do the rest (I hope)
3) rules and a double Jury composed by leaders of the mugen community and a pubblic jury composed by users....

what do you think...too ambitious?

p.s. Orange County California? Very Expensive, but why not!

Paris is still better...Europe Mugen Team!

I agree with you that this could be a really nice idea...too bad we are spread all over the world and most of us have lives outside the community(college, high school,work,family,etc...)
I´d hope online mugen(or clones like shugendo) get running soon so we can start something similar over the internet :)

Even though I doubt this will ever come out, why not throw out an idea...

Why settle for just one area? Why not have multiple, more localized locations?
Punctuation and capitalization can make the difference between "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse," and, "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."

92% of people have moved onto rap. If you're part of the 8% who thinks rap isn't music, sucks to be you.

Most newer stuff sucks, though.

I wouldnt mind going to Orange County CA... i live close enough...

But i have friends that travel across the country for animie conventions, a mugen convention once in a while would be nice. It would have to be like a 2 or 3 day thing so that people who came by like bus could actualy spend like a day or 2 there.

Best sponcers would be food and drink venders. They would make enough money if there was high enough attendece.

Even if it started small though, like a bunch of us so cal locals get togeather and hang out someplace and play mugen, eventualy it would grow if we did it like once  a year.

Comic Con. started as a bunch of guys haning out in the basement of a hotel talking about comic books, and look what it is now.

We would need name tags, so that everyone can figure out who is who.

You mean a MugenCon? I don't think it's a bad idea per say, but I could see some issues with it in two ways:

1.) The fact that it's mostly fan based engine that uses a lot of copywrited characters

and

2.) Some online division in the Mugen community.

It would be very hard to organize something like a convention because of some of those issues.

i understand what your saying but if at a comic book convention Marvel and DC can be there together i would hope the mugen communities could get along for the greater good......right.... ;D
