Nice idea. I like the spark effects and the stages. Not much of a fan of the tunes though.

Very NES-ish colors with low saturation, maybe consider a Master System version instead.

You might get some rage from demake purists because some sprites have more than 5 colors, but I think it's alright.
If you pull 4 per character sprite/tile, you could (in theory) make an old-school Game Boy version.

Wow, finally an official preview. This project looks nostalgically cool.

The only thing I can say is, maybe it's my misperception, but the select screen looks tight and a bit confusing.

Nice idea! I was watching your posts at MFG.
I liked it so far. My only complain is the HUD while the fight goes on - I think you don't need the "DC vs Marvel" sprite, because it takes a lot of space on the screen
