some characters aren't appearing in Vselect. is it because they're HD?

I know I post here a lot, and i'm sorry, but don't see a better place. besides, I actually get help here.

anyway, I'm having trouble getting Vselect to recognize certain characters in the chars folder. Gengar (from pokemon) an some DBZ characters. it's not that they appear strange, they don't appear AT ALL. I think they're all HD characters. could that be why? if so, I can just add them manually. I used to, it' just been so long since I have, that I don't remember how.

also, are there any problems using HD charcters with non HD characters? I mean, standard and hi res work fine together. or is this another matter entirely?

I it maters, I've been using the IMT Blue screenpack downloaded from the site, but for customization sake, i'm considering just setting up a fresh download of both 1.0 and 1.1b.
